The bird continues to dive towards you at an alarming speed, almost as if it seeks to do harm. Cico, you notice the moonlight glinting off it, this bird seems to be made of metal.
Aimee and Lyss can roll their readied actions as it seems set to collide with Kerri who is ever so kindly shielding you.
The mechanical bird is knocked out of the air by Lyss’s rock, falling at Kerri’s feet. Nuts and screws ping along the ground around it and its innards are revealed by the wound - a tidy array of cogs and wheels.
Atop the temple, the moonlight shines off of the figure as they escape into the building through a hatch on the roof. It’s getting late now and the doors to the temple are closed, though the sound of gears, forging and general tinkering can be heard from within.
Edvord, noticing the figure fleeing into the temple turns to Lyss, "The door is most likely locked, may be worth seeing if your talents could unlock it..."
Before receiving a response, the wizard will begin to quickly circle the temple attempting to find an alternative entrance.
Edvord Investigation: 16 -3 if perception is more appropriate
Cico watches the metal bird plummet to the ground. He tracks the fall as best he can and moves to grab it as soon as it hits the ground at Kerri's feet to see what it is and if there's anything else to it besides being a metal bird set on flying into Kerri.
Edvord, heading around the building you notice a heap of scrap metal that you could potentially fashion into a ladder or scaffolding given the time. In a rush maybe a balancing beam to climb?
Cico, looking over the bird you see that it doesn't seem to be made of any living substance, a combination of magic and technology seem to be making it appear living.
Aimee does indeed get it, her blast causing the figure to tumble out of view.
Cico deftly tiptoes along the beam, his balance impeccable. Upon reaching the roof, he finds a panel in the slating jutting out slightly. If closed it would be near impossible to see, but it seems to have fallen loosely and not quite shut. A clanging sound comes from within, as if many small metal objects are crashing amongst themselves.

Lyss will point towards where Cico dashed before scooting forward herself to see about the locks that Eddie brought to her attention.

Lyss looks over the lock. A complex mechanism of endless gears and cogs ties to a web of strings attached to small bells around the edge of the doors. She carefully tries to snip at just the right strings to disarm it. As the string snaps, a small bell dings.
Through the hatch Cico sees a metallic contraption resembling a humanoid cowering in the corner of a room full of mechanical clutter. It silently makes complex gestures towards him with its hands as it backs away. From behind the door you hear the sound of footsteps hurriedly ascending a staircase and a voice calling out. ”Nim, Nim?”

Cico looks at the mechanoid and realizes the creature is trying to say something with its hands. But is it gesturing for Cico to come closer, to leave him alone, or is it just gibberish?
He quickly darts to the edge of the roof, and calls down to Edvord.
"I'm going inside," Cico says in as quiet a shout as possible. "There's an open hatch. It's an easy way in."
Cico then quickly returns to the hatch and slips down into the room, holding on to the edge of the opening until he's fully extended and then drops lightly to the floor.
He gestures at the mechanoid and then to the door, using his hands to indicate something should come out of the creatures mouth.
"Answer," Cico whispers.
If there's time before anyone gets to the door, Cico looks for shadowy, dark corners of the room to hide, using Mask of the Wild (you can attempt to hide even when you are only lightly obscured) if there's only partial cover or shadows.
As Cico disappears over the roof, Edvord will mumble to himself, "Could have used a rope..."He takes out a magical potion and sets it down in arms reach, "If worst comes to worst at least I have this."
The man will continue to try to fashion a more stable contraption of metal against the wall that anyone could safely climb.

"Woooo! You see that? Bam! Let's go! Where's Cico?"
Cico moves quickly before the hatch closes shut and flips it open, keeping his head to the side in case he unleashes more of the mechanical birds.
if he doesn’t get a blast of robo-birds in the face he looks into the opening.
Lyss will point towards where Cico dashed before scooting forward herself to see about the locks that Eddie brought to her attention.
