Cico doesn't know what good weapons and fists are against something as shapeless and seemingly made of shadow itself as this creature, but the brothers' swords did something so it must feel pain.
He slashes out with his own short sword, cutting through any part of the creature, seeking resistance of any kind. He then follows through with a closed fist, and then when seeing the crumpled form of Lyss below, he closes his eyes, channeling the last of this spiritual energy and finds the speed to lash out again with a high kick.

Bonus Action - Flurry of Blows (last ki point spent): First: Attack: 18 Damage: 6 ; Second: Attack: 14 Damage: 9
Cico’s blade passes through the shadow, and it dissipates before his eyes even before he has a chance to throw his fist.
As the darkness subsides, Lyss’s motionless form lies sprawled on the floor, but for a second Kerri and Cico notice a small flicker in her eyes. The light seems to be fighting to return still, just barely, as her veins turn black and her eyes start to cloud over.
Once the shadow disappears to naught but a wisp of darkness, Aldrik kneels down next to the body of Lyss. He holds the grip of his sword in one hand, blade tip on the stone, his eyes darkened with resolve. He looks to Edvord.
"Eddie. You've been learned on things foul and dark. That creature... what will it have done to her?"

Cico looks over at Kerri to see if she will step in like before after the explosion.
if she doesn’t, Cico will kneel down and try to make sure Lyss is stable. His knowledge is based more on the farm animals back at the abbey but the basics should still work.

"That's it," Kerri kneels down next to Lyss and places both her hands on the girl, pushing more healing magic into her. "We're leaving. I don't care what's down here anymore, if you lot can't make sure things are safe before touching them you don't get to explore things like this."

Edvord sits back displaying no emotion on his face as he analytically attempts to piece together the recent events concerning Lyss in relation to the subjects he studied. Is Lyss still alive and if so what happened to the halfling?

Kerri’s palms rest against Lyss’s unmoving chest. As she pushes her healing magic, she feels some resistance. Lyss shudders and splutters, as the darkness subsides slowly. After a good while, she jolts up, coughing. She’s alive, but seems very frail.
Edvord, you know that these shadows drain the strength of their prey, which is particularly the good of heart. Once they kill their prey, a new shadow is born from the corpse of the deceased. Luckily, Lyss seems to be alive.
"Aye, we'll find our way out of this as soon as we can, Lyss."Aldrik looks concerned at the girl's state. "Can you walk? Or would you like me to carry you until we get you back home?"

Cico HD (if all up for short rest): 6
The appearance of the skeletons and the shadow surprised Cico but didn't phase him too much. He closes his eyes for a moment while he remembers this final test deep beneath the monastery. His breathing stays rhythmic and his heart rate settles down to a slow steady beat. The only sign of movement is his right thumb rubbing back and forth against his right index finger.
Then his eyes blink open.
"Everything is a trap or puzzle in here," Cico says. "But this is where Mirt's unicorn is. The alley was blue and these are someone's idea of games."
He looks over at Lyss and then to Kerri.
"We're already here. Lyss is not dead. Yet. We should stay."
"Lyss! NO! GET AWAY FROM HER!"
Aimee blasts (force damage if it connects), still smiling but twisted with other emotions trying to get through.
Attack: 7 Damage: 13

"Lyss? Lyss?! You have to be careful! You told me you were careful!"
She sounds more confused than sad.

Lyss clutches shakily at Kerri's shirt, her breath coming in ragged gasps, her eyes screwed shut and leaking at the corners.
After a bit, she regains some equilibrium, and croaks.
"Did I get it? The gem, did I get it?"

"Here! You got it! You look BAD! How do you feel?"
"Yaaaay...", she cheers weakly. "I feel worse than when the book 'sploded. Can we go home now?"

Cico looks into the 'trash' room and eyes the door they haven't looked behind yet. He pauses for a moment, listening.
"It's quiet here," Cico says. "The trash is not pleasant but does not appear to be dangerous. We could give Lyss some time to catch her breath here."
"Need a break Lyss? You look like you need a break! Here let's sit and you can rest your head on my lap!"
Aimee finds a clear spot to help her friend lay down and get comfortable.

Lyss makes use of an Aimee pillow and tries to rest... really hoping nothing pops out and grabs her, or explodes her... or worse!
