Aimee lowers her blasting hand not at all worried by, some might say oblivious to, the harsh tone.
"Okay! I'm not as good as Lyss but she did show me how to use those little metal things and mirror a couple times so I can try picking the lock! So Lyss doesn't have to!"
”I have had to use such tools before as well. Locks make some people feel safe. It really only slows things down. Go ahead. It is unlikely to be another explosion, room full of steel balls, or the undead.”
The lock eludes all three of you. Up ahead there is a wooden door atop a couple of stone steps. The alley continues at a sharp left then a right heading around building the wooden door leads to.
"I've heard of these. Fake doors with fake locks that are just there to get you to waste time trying to pick them. Someone who hasn't gotten blowed up by cold and eaten by a gross shadow can go first."

Aldrik nods at everyone's delicate attempts to open the door. He takes a careful peer down at the lock, the mechanicism. "Hmm, yes. Potentially fine work, here. You can see the craftsmanship."
Edvord watches Aldrik attempt to kick in the door, "Violence is not the answer to everything brother... While you break your leg, I will take the civilized route of checking out the next door."
Before waiting to see the results of Aldrik's forceful approach, Edvord walks over and attempts to deduce if the next door is locked or trapped.
Your observations of the door reveal it is locked but not trapped. There is a keyhole.

Cico gestures at the lock for Aimee.

Aimee scooches eagerly in and sets to work on the lock.
"I got this!"

"Nope! Sorry Lyss! Someone else give it a go!"
Cico look at the tools available again and selects one that looks right for the lock and closes his eyes and moves by feel to get the lock in motion.

He opens his eyes and stares at the lock for a moment. Cico then stands up and turns his back on the door.
"No joy? Next!"
"If there WAS a trap, I feel like you would have to have set it off by now..."

"Kicks don't tend to have as many unintended consequences," Cico says.
Cico looks around at the others.
"If no one else is trying, we might as well stop standing here and staring at the door," Cico says. "The next door might be easier."
He heads down to the next one and gives it the once over for traps and the like.
