Killilli’s Dragon Heist

"Let's go then! If it's still in the maze, we know where to find it!" Lyss takes off for the exit.

You follow the route, Lyss and Kerri keeping track of the twists and turns on your map. Aimee listens out for any signs of the scarecrow on the way through the faint rustling of corn leaves swaying against the clear night sky. 

Once you make it to where you think you heard the scarecrow, you hear some clunking about on the parallel path. It seems like you overestimated the creatures intelligence.

Aimee blasts open a path to it!

((How sturdy are the 'walls' of the maze? Is it just planted corn that one could push through, or is it a full barrier?))

(It’s the second, planted pretty thick but still just planted corn.)

Aimee blasts a hole through the corn, and you just see the wounded scarecrow stumbling around a bend.

Lyss gives an excited whoop and sets off in pursuit, dashing and firing.

Attack: 13 Damage: 7

Aimee dives after blasting with glee if she can catch up and catch a glimpse.

 Attack: 15 Damage: 11

The combined blast of Lyss and Aimee takes down the scarecrow once and for all. It crumples to the ground, hay spilling over the floor of the maze.

Aimee raises her arms in victory!

"Woo! Take that! Also OUCH!"

Gingerly she lowers her arms.

"What now? We got'm all right!"

(You feel like that’s the last of them. You remember that 3 goats had been mutilated, their hearts removed. You defeated 3 scarecrows with blackened hearts about the size of a goats. Where to now? Like to speak to any locals? Just heading back home? Investigating anything else?)

Kerri looks at the two girls. "Perhaps we should return to tell that women the scarecrows will no longer effect her maze?"

"Someone must have done this though, they didn't just do it on their own. You think the woman that owns the place was the one that did it, or maybe she's got an enemy that wants to ruin her? We should go talk to her, but be ready, in case we need to knock her out and haul her old butt in too."

"Or it could be what's his name that is taking care of her! So many possibilities!"

Aimee is up for going back to the old lady.

"Let's gooo!"

Lyss starts skipping in that direction.

Aimee skips along behind,

"Come on Kerri!"

You make it out of the maze and find the woman’s cottage. As you approach the dusty door, you notice the subtle smell of rotting food and woodrot. A far cry from the welcoming wafts of freshly bakes pies and treats that you would expect from most halfling abodes. A small basket sits by the door with a collection of apples, peppers, milk and other foodstuffs, all slightly on the turn as if left out too long. 

((This is the same house we were just at, right? Did we miss the nasty smells the first time somehow?))

Yes it’s the same house. The smells aren’t overpowering at all, you just notice extra details on a second visit, besides you had scarecrows to hunt the first time around and you were shouting from a little way away.

((Good, good. Was just making sure!))

Aimee gives the basket a sniff.

"Ohhhhhh! Ha! Old lady isn't eating, not a good sign! Should we knock?"

She is not speaking quietly.

"Yeah, we need to tell her what was going on... and see how much she already knew."

Lyss stows her bow, but holds a pair of daggers at her side.
