There is no one to stop Skritch from approaching. The dryad looks at Skritch with a casual glance and a long blink as the kenku makes his presence known. "Ohh...hellooo liiitlee oneee..." Each word is drawn out as though it takes the dryad much time to think of what to say next. It reminds Skritch of a snail. The voice is deep and masculine, but somehow gentle. "Hooow aaare yoooou, liiitlee biiird?"

Skritch does not feel the most comfortable with having his tome leave his possession, but at this point he really needs someone to believe him and get him to where his mistress demanded that he go. Tentatively, Skritch places the worn tome in the hands of the dryad and backs away slightly, his hands fidgety with the emptiness.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
The dryad holds the tome in his palm open handed. He makes no gesture to wrap his fingers around the book or take it away from Skritch. Instead, the kenku sees some of the vines from the dryad's hands grow and wrap around the book slightly. It seems that the tome glows faintly as he does this. After a few seconds, the vines retract from the tome.
"This... this is indeed of great import. This has the thorn witch's magic upon it..." The dryad passes Skritch a look of concern as he holds the tome out for the bird to take, "little bird, what happened? How did you come by this book?"

(This is my current work on jobs. It's a draft, but what do you guys think?
You can earn money during downtime by working a job! These jobs can be worked for 4 hours or 8 hour increments. You make a check for working by selecting the following:
Strength (Athletics)
Intelligence (Tool)
Charisma (Performance)
Charisma (Instrument)
Working for 4 hours grants 2d6+4 gold earned. Working for 8 hours grants 4d6+4 gold earned AND you gain a friendliness point with your choice of NPC you work with.
NPCs all have a degree of friendliness you can earn with them, though some will be harder than others. NPCs all statically have 2/20. An NPC hitting 0 is what makes them wish you were dead. The higher their friendliness, the more likely they are to inform you of rumors/lore/information, do you favors, or even accompany you on adventures (for a fee, of course).

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
It isn't long before Skritch and the dryad are standing before a circular, wooden door that is embossed with deep purple and gold runes. They pulsate gently before the pair of them.
"Wait here a moment, little bird," Davi asks as he disappears behind the door for a moment. Skritch can sense overwhelming magic beyond the door even before he sees Baba Aga. Soon, Davi reappears and holds the door open for Skritch. "You are to sit in the parlor and wait for Baba Aga, little bird. Take care not to touch anything."
Once the door closes behind Skritch, assuming he ventures inside, the room becomes dark. There are faintly glowing blue, purple, and yellow orbs that illuminate the room just barely. Even with the low light, the kenku can make out some details of the room. Baba Aga's room seems to be quite small, but he wonders if the claustrophobic feeling he has is from the bookcases which line all available wall space. Atop and in front of many bookcases, Skritch can see piles of parchment, baubles, fetishes in the form of statues, masks, and trinkets, and, of course, more books.
There is a table in the center of the room which has two chairs around it. A crystal ball resting atop a pillow is centered on the wooden table. A broom leans against one of the chairs, which also seems to have a pillow in the seat. Other than the chairs, bookcases, and table, Skritch can't make out any other furniture in this room.
Though... there is one end of the room that is particularly dark. So dark Skritch can't see it clearly even with the orbs sometimes floating near it.
Will Skritch wait, or would he like to inspect anything?

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((Skritch will most certainly sit patiently without looking around at anyth........who are we kidding. Of course the Kenku is drawn to all the trinkets!))
At first Skritch is sort of stunned by the vast amount of baubles and trinkets that are barely perceptible in the dim light of the room. It almost feels like home....if Skritch had hundreds of years to decorate it and the Shadowbraid had a vast wealth of victims for him to scavenge from. Though he meant to find a seat at the one of the chairs around the small table, Skritch quickly finds his feet and eyes wandering the vast wonders of the cramped quarters. From bookcase to bookcase he hops in his most excited flighty way, observing one trinket before the next distracts him and pulls him away. Davi's warning echoes softly in the back of his bird-brain, and Skritch has to consciously clasp his hands together to keep his fidgeting digits from reaching out and touching the paraphernalia that litters the space.
((Is there anything that sticks out to Skritch? Draws his attention more than anything else?))
Perception: 21
Investigation: 17 ((This is what your Investigation looks like when you can't touch things....))
Oddly enough, Skritch is drawn to a small statue of two birds that seem to be kissing. Or rather, pecking each other beak to beak. He finds it Infront of a row of books on one of the many bookcases. One is ebony and the other is ivory. Skritch cannot tell what sort of birds they are, but the black bird's wings appear to be crooked while the white bird's wings appear to be somewhat gilded at the tips. Whenever Skritch tries to look away, he cannot help but turn his gaze back as he swears he hears a birdcall from the statue.
He must touch it. He must!
