Teek smiles and says goodbye to his good friend, Tae.
Heec quickly realizes that it is an empty hallway with three office doors lined up to the side and a door at the end. The three side doors are adorned with simple copper plates neatly engraved with names. The first one reads "Tradstone", the second reads "Baltfinder" the third "Foreman" the fourth reads "Storage". The last door at the end of hallway has a crude piece of wood with "Research" scratched on it.
Tae heads back to the Flop House, sits in his room and studies the spell scroll they acquired from Fel.
Heec heads down the hall to what he assumes will be Tradestone's son's office, labeled "Research", and, apparently, now commonplace in Kragglefrock, enters without knocking. Hello there, son of Tradstone! I'm Heec, the light of Selune, the Quiet Fist of the Moonflower, Moon Elf Adventurer! And you are?
Tae unfurls the parchment with filled with a spidery script of magic writings. The scroll contains the spell Thunderwave. Tae knows that he can either use this scroll once to cast the spell, or by taking two hours and using 50 gp of materials and inks he can copy this spell into his spellbook. Either casting the spell or copying the spell will remove the magic contained within the words on the page and render the scroll unusable.
Heec unexpectedly throws open a door to a large rectangular room filled with tables, shelves, books, equipment and a whole manner of assorted items. Hunched on a stool hovering over a set of equipment by a large brick hearth on the left is a dwarf. The dwarf says “Ack!” and is startled to such a degree that he flings a set of tongs to the other side of the room, kicks over most of his equipment nearby and flails his arms in circles before teetering backward and falling down. One of the pieces of equipment looks like a miniature forge and begins spilling molten materials in the hearth and on the floor, thankfully away from the prone dwarf.
Tae decides Thunderwave would make a fine addition to his arsenal. He takes two hours, 50 gp and inks the spell into his collection.
Easy, friend! It was not my intention to startle you. Your father sent me your way in hopes to assist in a quest. Heec helps the dwarf to his feet. How may I be of service?
Tae takes two hours and expends the necessary materials in order to successfully copy and practice the spell Thunderwave. He inscribes it in his spellbook and becomes the most powerful master of the arcane magicks there is! ...in this flop house.
Meanwhile...
Heec helps the dwarf up, he is young (by dwarf standards) and has a scraggly unkempt beard and hair. He is wearing goggles with very thick frames which make his eyes look huge.
D: Oh my! You gave me quite..quite the fri...yes quite the scare indeed. Please help me pick this up." looks at the miniaturized foundry which appears to be quite hot.
Tae is pleased with his acquisition of the new spell. He sits in quiet meditation until his brother returns.
I'd be happy to! Do you have a set of vice grips or a ound-glound I could wear to pick it up? I'd hate to burn myself. I don't have the tolerance for heat you do!
The dwarf looks at his own thick leather gloves and then grabs another pair from a nearby table. They look like they are for very meaty and stubby hands, much like his. He starts to pick up some of tools scattered on the floor.
Heec puts the thick gloves on and notices that they are little short and wide, but still manages to try to get the foundry upright. It is surprisingly heavy and, even through the gloves, very, VERY hot. Since his gloves aren't providing much protection on the lower parts of his hands, he mostly has to use his fingers for the grip. He gets the foundry to a 45 degree angle when he starts to lose his grip on it...
The dwarf finishes picking up the equipment. He looks at Heec.
D: I'm going to go find my, my tongs. I believe they went this way." he says a little embarrassed.
The foundry is starting to make Heec's hands cramp and the heat is now uncomfortable even through the thick leather gloves. The dwarf starts walking to the other side of the room.
He looks at Heec and suddenly goes in full panic mode.
D: Oh my, Mr. Elf! Let me help with that!
He easily puts it upright. He then looks at the molten slag on the floor which is starting to cool and slow it's advance. Suddenly he goes into panic mode again.
D: Quick! We've got to get that slag away from the Everburn Briquettes!
On the other side of the stone hearth is a pile of charcoal that the molten material is coming perilously close to...
His keen elf eyes and memory are able to narrow down the location where the tongs went, but Heec would still have to do a few minutes of a searching to locate them in the very cluttered room.
On the left side of the room is the large stone hearth with the miniature foundry and equipment scattered around. Stacked on the right side of the hearth is a waist-high pile of charcoal. There are other blacksmith tools hanging from the walls and on the closest edge of the table. Two, very long tables span three-fourths of the room with aisles on the sides and in between. They are filled with a variety of equipment, parchments, bric-a-brac and the like. The wall opposite of the entrance has some windows letting in a good amount of natural light with shelves and cabinets filling in the spaces between. On the far right side of the room there is a "room within a room". A partial wall originating from the back of the building closes off what looks like small library and study.
From what he can remember, the tongs landed somewhere in the back of the room in the last third of the main room, not including the library.
Heec notices a ball peen hammer on the table. Hold this steady, young Tradstone. Heec walks over to the hammer, grabs it and stands between the slag and the charcoal pile. He carefully guides the slag away from the charcoal pile so it appears as though a spine with ribs lies in front of the charcoal pile. That should do the trick, don't you think?
Heec carefully uses the metal head of the hammer to spread the molten materials out. This reduction in flow is enough to let it cool as it settles less than foot away from the pile.
The dwarf looks very relieved and starts to calm down.
D: Thank you maester elf. That would have been...ummm...very bad if it those caught fire.
He is sweating profusely and rubbing his hands together in a nervous fashion but overall seems much better with the crisis averted.
Irlaid! Heecrid Irlaid, the light of Selune, the Quiet Fist of the Moonflower, Moon Elf Adventurer Extraordinaire! But you can call me Heec. He says with a smile. Your father wanted me to speak to you about a possible quest. Have you found something that needs investigated? Are you hearing whispers of a hidden danger on my brother and I can deal with? We're here to help with whatever adventuring needs you may have!

Friend, if we don't put this upright, I'm going to just have to let it go. I can't hold it on my own. Could you assist me here?
He looks at Heec and suddenly goes in full panic mode.

Heec attempts to locate the young dwarf's tongs with an ocular pat-down of the room. He makes a perception check of 22 (18+4).

Happy to help, young Tradstone. What is your name if you don't mind me asking?
He blushes at Heec calling him Tradstone.
D: Oh, herm...I'm Gadhewer. Gadhewer Dweevis Loderr. Hail and well met Mr.....
He looks at Heec embarrassed like he forgot his name.
