Now that her spell had faded, Limine backs 30 ft. away, now standing 100 ft. from the where the graves were. Then, she shoots another beam at the woman.

Mordekai continues to blast away at the burning horror.

Fallion reels back from the pain but grits his teeth and pushes on. Sometimes a noble's pride can be troublesome like this, he thinks somewhere deep in the back of his mind. He moves to flank with Slurb.

Slurb has a panicked look in his eyes. "Uh.... I'm burning out of magic!"

The Smoldering Woman takes more and more hits: a magic missile from Slurb, two blasts of energy from Limine and Mordekai, and two slashes from Falion. 

(Sorry, no flanking as we aren't using a battle map.) 

The Spirit sends another wave of withering darkness at the creature.

Suddenly, as injures mount on the Smoldering Woman, the exterior of her skin bursts in flames. The wispy heads of the other three family members appear, in a more human form. Suddenly, flashes of horror appears on their faces, and disintegrate into beams of flame, which arcs out at Mordekai, Slurb, and Scab!

Those struck by the flames: images flash in your minds as the scenes of the deaths of the various family members play out in your eyes, slaughtered by the Spirit while she was still alive.

Still, the party senses that the creature is near destruction, and the rays of flame were only a last ditch effort...

Fallion wonders in his head, whether he or the spirit will fall first. It's a curious question but it doesn't slow his blades, if anything only pushing them to more brutal efficiency as he uses all he had learned. Twist, parry, thrust, feint...

Scab takes aim at the Smoldering Woman after dodging the blast, sending an arrow straight to the chest.

Mordekai looks at the scorched earth surrounding him and says, "That's enough."  He extends his palm and a crackling bolt of divine energy shoots from his hand.

Limine joins the blasting with everyone.

A final round of destruction is aimed at the Smoldering Woman. Slurb's magic missile breaks off more of her chitinous skin, allowing Fallion to nearly slice off her left arm! Scab's accurate arrow strikes her right in the eye, followed by a devastating bolt of divine energy from Mordekai, shattering her pillory. The abomination collapses on the ground, but through fiendish vigor, attempts to arise again. 

But Limine's eldritch blast strikes her in the head. The Smoldering Woman falls down for good. 

Around the party, the heat from the burning tree intensify, and four distinct screams can be heard- the Father, the Mother, Lisa, and the Husband. The various corpses on the ground begin to disintegrate into wisps of ash, which arc into the sky. The twisted, eldritch sensation in the air disappears. 

The Spirit slowly descends to the ground. She finally smiles. "Thank you...so much. You've freed me. After all these years of torment and pain, I can finally rest." 

She turns her head up to the sky, with the full moon above. "I don't know what's up there. But now, It's my time to leave." 

Her corporeal form transforms into a ball of light, which flies towards the sky, into the clouds. 

 You've done it. Thanks to you, the spirit of Trishdale has finally been laid to rest. 

From within the graves, a glint of gold is reflected from the moonlight. There must've been treasure buried within the grave...

Slrub is shocked, surprised by the carnage of the battle. His hands are scarred, and he is weak. He is wounded, and he has no magic. When the battle ends, Slurb smiles, grateful that they were able to help a tortured spirit find peace. "What shall we do now? There is good news to be spread, and...." Slurb notices the gold left in the grave. "I see gold in the grave. Shall we split this evenly?"

Limine breathes heavily. She had exhausted all of her powers and remembers she had been walking all day, she's rather tired.

"Let's dig it out, then split it as we see fit. As for spreading the rumours, I'm too tired for that, today. I'll let you handle it."

Scab instinctively twitches from the shadows, quickly making his way over to the pile of what he can only assume is treasure from adventurers long dead. Life in Trishdale was harsh, and Scab has countless experiences of being kicked away from his fair share of food or prizes due to weighing little more than thirty pounds. He scans the area for traps or other malicious activity before taking a miniscule pouch out and scooping some treasure in, while additionally picking through any more interesting items - such as weapons or potions - that might interest him. 

For two natural 20s, would Scab have his stress reduced by two?

Scab moves forward to uncover the treasure buried deep in the graves. A use of the shovel is enough to uncover it- shining gold, jewels, and baubles! 

Counting it up, there is 200 gp worth of gold coins, and five 50 gp gems, all of which shine brilliantly in the moonlight. 

There also appear to be a few other items buried inside the graves. Inside the "me" grave is the Spirit's bonnet, which is surprisingly intact despite being buried underground. It lies next to a small gold locket and a book with a leather cover.
