"It sounds like we both encountered something much too dangerous for our individual groups alone. Should we all try going after one of these dangers together? I would assume the Neogi, as they seem less dangerous than the beholder."
"Either way, the neogi seem easier to handle, especially with a large enough team to work against their mind control. We should take a week or two to rest up, but for when we're ready- who's with us?"
"I will go," the half-elf paladin says fervently. Thavriol would prefer to leave on the morrow but the wise choice was to rest and recover, to return to the neogi at full strength.
samael follows the half-elf. "by the way, forgive me for asking, but i forgot to ask your name."
"I'm Thavriol Cooperson. Pleased to meet you," says the paladin.
"Samael, once a humble farmhand, and now forced to find sanctuary here, amidst the madness." Samael sighs, but shakes Thavriol's hand regardless; he's melancholic, not impolite.
As the group of you make your way across town to the armory, you hear the sound of clanking steel as you approach. Strangely, a muscular elf is hammering at the forge, while a nimble dwarf is fletching arrows and and tanning leather. Racks of weapons and armor line the shelves around them. Finally the dwarf puts down her tanning knife and turns to you.
"We got the best arms and weaponry in Trishdale. If you're in need of protection, or seeking to do some damage, our racks are open to you. Or, you can use our forge if you think your own handiwork is superior." Then after a moment of looking you up and down, she nods to those that went to the farms recently, "You're the ones that went out and helped old Hurdig, right? You're more than welcome here in our humble smithy. Just don't go bringing no creature corpses back with you," she points to the others that went to the library and brought a gazer corpse back, "Yeah, we've heard. Word travels around Trishdale. Them wizards in the tower are a strange bunch and want to play with dead things. We here prefer not to mess with them strange creatures about. We like to rely on our wits and weapons, one of which we have plenty to spare." The dwarf laughs and the elf snorts and shakes his head, but continues working.
"Hmm... Let me have a look," the dwarf woman rifles around, eventually coming back with some studded leather armour over her shoulder and a heavy crossbow in hand. She puts it on the counter in front of you. "Armour will cost you 45 gold pieces. While the crossbow will cost 50 gold, with bolts costing a gold for a bundle. Was there anything else you all needed?"
"well, i'd like to trade in my light crossbow and my old leather armor to help pay for this, would that reduce the cost any or would it be a separate transaction?"
She looks over the leather armour and the light crossbow, talking to herself as she does. "The leather has seen better days. You've obviously been in a few scraps. I can offer you five gold for that towards your new set. As for the crossbow, she's in pretty good nick considering your armour has taken a few hits. I'll give you 15 gold for that one towards your new things. Sound like a deal?"
"it works to my favor, and i'll throw in 2 unused daggers to fully seal the deal." with that all the gold he has and 2 daggers are exchanged for the improved armor and heavy crossbow.
With that the dwarf nods and picks up the pieces you've given her and puts them to the side. "Any other items you folk would like? If not, I'd better get back to work." She looks to each of the others as she waits for any response.

Perigord looks up from skimming the Neogi entry.

Thavriol nods in agreement.

"aye, neogi first, mainly in that we have a rough number on them, but we don't know if there's one beholder or more below."
"Either way, the neogi seem easier to handle, especially with a large enough team to work against their mind control. We should take a week or two to rest up, but for when we're ready- who's with us?"
"i am." Samael is serious about his commitment, but is also serious on doing it right.
"I am with you, and the rest would be nice" says Sienna with a grin

"now then," samael remembers, "where's the armorer and weaponshop?"
Thavriol smiles. "I'll take you, Samael. Just follow me." He flips a coin to the barkeep as he leads his new companion to the armorer.
