Ran looks round, at first glance he had not realized the number of horses that survived. He still doesn't trust the gnoll's horses to be used as mounts, but they have muscle and can pull.
He fashions several lassos with the ropes, and get one end of each rope around the narrow end of the tree, as far as possible, digging out some dirt to help make sure the ropes are as anchored. They don't need to remove completely if they can just spin it so it's not blocking the road. He ties an end of one rope to the pommel of the saddle on his horse and tosses the ends of several other ropes to the others to do the same. He then helps with the gnoll horses as well.
He asks the others to help line up the horses so they are all pulling in the same direction. Then with several of them guiding and urging on the horses they get the horses to pull.

Kiran helps make sure the ropes are secured on what used to be the higher side, no need to try and drag that mass of root, and works on getting the horses to pull together.

“C’mon horse friends, you can do this! I’ll help!” Petal grabs a rope and makes a feeble attempt to pull with the horses, to show solidarity. ”Say, what were you doing with those nasty folk who treated you so bad? Ooof this is really tough!
Elavor would lend his aid to the tree moving effort, making sure Dust was secured first then helping with the other horses as well, following Kiran and Ran's lead.
Ronegan gains little insight from his studies as he looks over the halfling man. He's lean and pale, nothing like the halflings in his acquaintance. As for the Marshfield house insignia, he notices however it's older something Varen might not know due to her heritage.
Opal looks at Varen with an angry expression.
"Traitors the lot of them! Who attacks a caravan on the road? Nothing but thieves and cutthroats," she adds in a growl. "As for those beasts," she jerks her head towards the gnolls, "they're mercenaries for sure..." she adds next as Varen nods knowing such things about these beasts as well as Orcs too who work for carnage as well as coin.
Back to the royal caravan....
"I believe moving without the carriage would be....a mistake. The king is..." Queen Citrine frowns and clears her throat, "is too unwell from the fighting to ride," she explains motioning towards the carriage where king Malachite has yet to show his face. "We move this tree now I think," she adds gesturing to where Kiran and Ran are working she then looks out over the road. "Opal, Onyx," she calls out to the children. "You both will ride in the carriage after the tree is moved. No exceptions," she adds firmly making a slashing motion with her bejeweled hand her gray eyes flashing with a warning.
"Yes...mother," Onyx agrees glumly standing in the middle of his friends trying not to sound too juvenile in his disapproval.
Opal however shakes her head looking to Varen and the dwarven house guard who stand from her fallen brother.
"No," Opal beings firmly. "I would like to aid the guard mother," she adds her tone determined, looks back to the bodies of the traitors her expression darkening. Her eyes look hard at the woman that Varen removed the shoulder armor from. A pretty, blonde-haired, and olive-skinned half-elven woman makes Opal's stomach turn but she keeps her face calm. "This is not a time to keep any of our fighters in the retinue holding to her mother's skirts," she adds her hand on her hips as a hush falls over everyone at Opal's now open defiance of her mother's orders.
Citrine's face grows stonier than usual as she sizes up her daughter with a set jaw but before she can respond Onyx speaks up.
"I...I would agree with Opal, mother," Onyx calls out his hand dipping into his satchel as confidence fills him again. "I...I wish to remain on guard with the others as well," he adds as Citrine crosses her arms over her chest looking at both of her children.
The twins this exchange looks as Opal nods at Onyx before both look to their mother.
"I..." the queen begins casting a look around at the beaten down as well as the fallen members of their retinue. "I...I plead caution as we move on," she begins again. "Your father is unwell with all the violence. Be careful my loves," she urges again but gives oddly a hard look at Onyx her eyes fleeting to Kiran who's mustering the remaining house guard and party towards the tree removal.
Onyx nods at his mother as Opal walks with Varen to the tree removal.
"Yes, mother...I will only use what is necessary to protect us all," Onyx replied with a curt nod as he looks to Ronegan with a soft smile than to Petal. "She's not all bad," he whispers to Petal in reply to her comment about her mother being like the winter. "There is strength in the cold," he adds next snapping his fingers as a frost crusts the tips of them before he quickly puts his hand to his side.
OOC: I need two more people with the animal handling roll to help Ran/Kiran move the tree with the horses. Kiran passes with a 22 but [Tooltip Not Found] by Ran he might roll a Nat 20 so roll again and take the higher of the two. Let's say Elavor is aided by Ronegan and Varen aids Petal.

“But no living man am I! You look upon a woman...You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King
Varen brings Mouse over to the tree, near where Petal is struggling with the rope. "Petal, you've met Mouse, right? He's one of my most loyal friends. Why don't you speak to him, let him know why we need to get this tree moved? I wish I had the ability to do so myself. I'll get the rope secured around his shoulders."
Varen helps Petal with Animal Handling, so you can roll with advantage. Or I can, we both have +2s, but figured you'd like to talk to Mouse as well.
Also, um. DM. Should I RP Mouse while she's got Talk with Animals running?
Making a mental note about the state of the crest, Ronegan wanders closer to the group at the front. He observes silently for a few minutes making notes in his journal. Then, he carefully approaches the group, skirting around as far as he can to give Kiran a wide berth, coming instead to the side of Elavor.
"Listen, old boy, and I've been observing this tree. I think it should be possible that your companion here should be able to play a key role in getting this particular....hmmm, obstruction, dislodged." Showing Elavor the notebook, in which the halfling had quickly sketched some crude geometric drawings, Ronegan explains. "If Dust here is able to apply approximately this much force, "he gestures with his hands "traveling at a very limited speed along side the other horses, you should be able to move it quite easily. Its basic geometric physics, really..."
Then Ronegan quickly steps back, because he is a little uncomfortable around horses.
“Hi Varen, hi Mouse! It’s so great to meet you, Varen’s told me a bit about your adventures - sounds like you are really brave! We really need your help now, we have to move this tree out of the way so all our friends can make it through safely - do you think you can help? Varen will tie the rope to you and all you gotta do is pull - I know you are a strong boy!”
Elavor smiles at Ronegan, and nods. "Equations were never my strong suit, so I'll take your word for it. And use your advice... the quicker we are out of this area, the better."
Elavor uses Ronegans expertise to determine the best location to hitch Dust...
Together the party and the horses begin to move the tree. Elavor as you coax Dust however she loses her footing on some loose pine straw and stumbles the tree doesn't shift on your point while Ran and Petal manage to shift the tree off most of the road. The tree is still going to be a tight fit for wagons as well as the carriage and all seem impatient to move!
"Shall we try another horse?" Opal offers gesturing at the gnoll's steeds still standing docile at the roadside as Dust prances around pulling her reigns from Elavor's hands and moving away from the fallen tree unable to give aid again fairly spooked by the task.
The horse will need to be calm down to be able to ride anywhere! Queen Citrine goes back into the carriage when king Malachite calls out for her. His voice sounds weak and he remains unseen. Onyx leaves his friends to check on his father and by his expression standing at the carriage door looking inside things are not going well for the king this day beyond the attack.

Ran walks back to the royal carriage.
"The tree is almost out of the way, your majesties," he calls inside. "One more pull from the horses and we will be on our way."
Now that he's had a chance to catch his breath, Ran starts feeling a little better (Second Wind: 9 - messed up the roll - should be 1d10 + 3, so 7), but as the group works to calm Dust down, and rope in the gnoll's horses, Ran keeps a watch on the woods around them. He doesn't want them to all be caught focused on the tree and horses. He will remain ready to lend a hand with the horses once they're ready to pull, but until then he will keep watch.

Elavor leads Dust out of the way of the others as they attempt to finish with the tree...
Attempting to calm her down, he speaks in a low tone that she's used to "Easy girl, I know, I know... I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking. You're not used to pulling, and after all that violence... I'm sorry... shhhh, it's my fault... "
Animal Handling : 21
Looking around, he spies Petal... and attempts to make eye contact with her... "Petal, I'm sorry to bother ya... can I get your help with Dust? She's awful upset with me for having her pull that tree.. you seem to know your way with animals..."
Ronegan winces slightly as he sees Dust stumble following his directions. Watching the horse prance and shimmy about shying away from Elavor following the half-elf's attempts to calm her down, Ronegan gets a strange gleam in his eye.
Joining Elavor and Petal near the nervous horse, Ronegan speaks haltingly and quietly, making sure only Petal and Elavor can here him.. "I had seen something like this this morning in my vision." He fishes a few sugar cubes out and offers them to Petal.
"If you do err....talk to the horse, maybe you can offer her these? I remember...or know, I don't quite understand how this works, that she has a bit of a sweet tooth."
(I will give the Portent Roll to Killilli or whoever else who wants to help if DM allows it/they want it. Its 14 + any bonuses).
Varen sighs as Elavor loses his rope, muttering. "If the King isn't well enough to travel by horse, this journey just got much more difficult."
She motions to the two of the remaining houseguard, calling their names before pointing at the gnoll horses. "Get some rope and get those horses to work! We almost have it!"
She watches Onyx return to the carriage, looking at Opal. "Opal, I don't mean to pry, but, has your father been well recently? He seemed... a bit off, when he gave his speech. It's part of my duty to worry about your family..."She motions to the princess, noting the cuts and bruises from the battle on both women, "yourself included."

Petal approaches Elavor and Dust, nodding to Elavor as he makes his request. She smiles at the horse, offering one of Ronegans sugar cubes with one hand, whilst petting him with the other.
“Hey, I’m sorry if you’re scared, we shouldn’t have asked so much of you. Ellie here loves you, and I’m here for you too! We won’t make you do anything you don’t feel comfortable with.”
Animal handling - 16 (portent)
Petal then skips over to the rope that dust was attached to and ties it around herself, announcing to the horses. “I’m sorry we asked so much of you, and I would never ask you to do something I wouldn’t do myself. We are all made of the same things, and deserve to be treated with love.”
Petal starts pulling as her body morphs, growing in size. Her face elongates, her hands and feet knitting together into a hoof. Within a few seconds she has become a draft horse, pulling the tree.
Kiran watches the transformation, his face as impassive as ever, before carefully turning his back deliberately, for the moment, to maintain control on the other horses and get this tree out of the way so they can be on their way.
Ronegan bursts into a rich laughter as he sees Petal's transformation and his excitement is such that he has trouble containing himself and a slight stutter comes out as the words spill out of his mouth almost more quickly than his brain can process them.
"This.....this is incredible. I've read stories about such transformations. They say people of the woods are able to affect such magic, but I've never seen it. I must describe this." He pulls out a book and a quill, licks the tip, and begins hurriedly writing observations, walking around the gnome/horse getting far closer than he normally would -- either to Petal or any of the horses.
