Siege of St. Andral's - Round #4 - Galqarin's Turn
Vampire Spawn opposed grapple: 7
Galqarin grabs back onto the Vampire Spawn. She snarls and claws at him but his grip holds firm. Moving quickly, Galqarin unsuccessfully attempts to land a hit on the other gentleman Vampire Spawn, his attack sailing far wide.
Dormark - Your eyes flicker. You are aware that someone has attempted to cast a magical sleep spell on you though you are unsure who. Either way, it was clear that they were unfamiliar with the inner workings of your systems. As your vision adjusts you see Volenta taking an eldritch blast to the chest, courtesy of Sandu. It seems the beam has temporary distracted her and she is unaware you are 'awake'. It is your turn.
((Narratively, I think it's fair to say that Volenta is of the belief that Dormark is asleep (similar to the others). As such, she is not expecting Dormark to strike. Mechanically, I'll say that this gives Dormark advantage on his first attack of this turn.))
Dormark badly damaged is about ready to strike when he hears the word 'Sleep'. Dormark dropping his mace begins to fall backwards as he starts to fade to black. It is during this time he remembers the words. 'Tell me Dormark, what do you want.' Dormark flashes back to the waking world moving his legs back underneath himself to prevent himself from falling. With Volenta turned away from him, Dormark's hammer appears in his fist and he throws it at her yelling, "For Moradin"
(In short Dormark moves back 5 ft and throws a guiding bolt. Due me proud my forge child.)

Siege of St. Andral's - Round #4 - Dormark's Turn
Taken completely unaware, Volenta's back remains turned to the Dormark. The bolt of light strikes true and she lets out an anguished howl. Where the bolt has struck the Vampiress' flesh has been burned away and does not immediately heal back. She looks around the church desperately before focusing on Dormark. "YOU?!"she screams, "What are you?!"
Valerie's Turn
Attempting to take advantage of Dormark's distraction, Valerie moves forward and attempts to grapple Volenta.
Valerie's Grapple Check: 20
Volenta's Opposed Grapple Check: 10
Valerie successfully grabs on to the Vampiress. "Quick, see to the Father!" she screams, "get him to safety!"
Dallid - Unaware of what is transpiring within the church, your attention is drawn to more pressing matters. Dadeveth has managed to kill a number of the bat swarms, which are currently around half of their initial size. Meanwhile, Galqarin has grabbed one of the Vampire Spawn to the South and is currently facing off against the other. Ferelyon looks to you, his eyes questioning what to do next. It is your turn.

Dallid whistles up Ferelyon and points at the batswarm, attempting to get it out of the equation while he waits to see what Galqarin is up to with these vampire spawn
Ferelyon bounds forward moments after hearing Dallid's whistle. Tearing at the bats with his mighty maw, he decimates dozens of the tiny creatures. Once all is said and done, two more of the swarms are reduced to nothing, the ground becoming slick with their blood.

Baern's Turn
Sparing no time, Baern rushes to Father Lucian. Once he gets to the snoozing priest's position he bends down and shakes him awake. "Father?! Father Lucian?! You must wake. You are in great danger!"the dwarf's words are kind yet urgent. Father Lucian opens one eye, then the other, and begins to stir.
Vasili's Turn
Vasili still appears to be in a deep, magically induced, sleep. Showing no signs of movement.
Gentlemen Vampire Spawn's (Left) Turn
"So a bit of the old fisty-cuffs is it?" the Vampire Spawn says, drawing himself up and adopting an old-fashioned boxer's pose. "I feel it only right to warn you that I was the collegiate champ!"he says to Galqarin as he advances forward."Let's be having you!" he howls as he unleashes a couple of particularly gentlemanly looking punches.
Attack: 20 Damage: 10
Attack: 18 Damage: 6
A rather expertly delivered, quick left jab penetrates the bugbear's defences. The gentleman uses the jab as a brief distraction as he follows up with a well-timed right hook, catching Galqarin squarely in the jaw. "What the matter old boy?"the gentleman says mockingly. "I would say 'chin-up' but fear that is what ultimately cost you!". The Vampire Spawn blows condescendingly on his right fist's nails before dropping into his boxing stance.
Volenta Popofsky's Turn
Volenta desperately attempts to escape Valerie's grip.
Volenta's Opposed Grapple Check: 21
Valerie's Check to Maintain the Grapple: 6
Valerie lets out a cry of pain as Volenta claws at her eyes. Making the most of the distraction the Vampiress is able to slip Valerie's grasp. Taking a couple of steps back her form briefly shimmers before it shifts into the black cloud. "Fine! Keep your precious priest," Volenta's voice spits, oozing malice. "Best you keep a close eye on him... his days are numbered!" The black cloud proceeds to smash through the church's northwest window, flying away at pace. "Strahd will have what he is due..." the voice echoes after the Volenta as she escapes the church.
(Barely a) Swarm of Bat's Turn
Uncaring that so many of their number have been blasted, shredded, torn and generally slaughtered in a multitude of ways, the remaining bats (numbering little more than half of their initial size) lashes out at Dadeveth.
Attack: 17 Damage: 4
A number of the little creatures once more manage to land a series of bites along Dadeveth's flanks.
Ireena's Turn
Ireena remains motionless as she still seems to be under the effects of the sleep spell.
Inside the church, with the departure of Volenta, there is stillness and quietness. Ireena and Vasili are still seemingly experiencing the effects of the sleep spell. Baern crouches down next to a drowsy Father Lucian. Valerie stands staring at the window through which Volenta made her escape.
Outside the church, it is a different story. Though most of the bat swarms have been annihilated, both Vampire Spawns still remain with barely a scratch.
Cerio - It seems Volenta has slipped your grasp for the time being. Your new companions seem to have performed admirably in the defence of the elderly priest. However, it would seem that neither Dadeveth nor Dallid have made it into the church. It is your turn to act, will you check on the elderly priest or attempt to find out what has happened to the others?

((Cerio will dash as a bonus action (30ft) then move (30ft), which should just land him beside the remaining swarm, and I should be able to reach flanking with Dadeveth.))
Cerio curses at the vampiress as she flees into the night. "And stay away, ya yellow-bellied witch!"
He ignores the strangers, who aren't actively trying to kill them, and races back outside toward the others. He's immediately confronted with a swarm of flapping bats, and he swats at them with his khopesh.
Attack: 24 Damage: 5
plus 6 sneak attack damage.
Horrors. The thought, more sensation than words, explodes within him. With a lurch his body heaves forward, and a ghostly, ectoplasmic presence comes screaming out of his chest. The ghost resembles him in nearly every way, except that its features are twisted into a frozen mask of terror. The ghost flies up around Cerio before flying into the gentleman vampire.
Necrotic damage to gentleman: 6
((Wails from the Grave: immediately after dealing sneak attack damage, a 2nd creature within 30 ft takes necrotic damage).
Cerio darts past the pews, through the entrance to the outside. Reaching the remaining bats his khopesh is a blur as he swats down the remaining critters, killing them easily. Staggering forward his ghost form enters the gentleman vampire spawn. However, other than looking confused, the gentleman seems to be unaffected. "More of you blighters, are there?"he says adjusting his waistcoat, "very well."
((Just FYI; no optional flanking rule (so no advantage on attack) but you hit the bats easily. The Vampire Spawn resists necrotic damage, which would get rounded down to 0.))
Sandu - Cerio has just darted past you and outside of the church. Dadeveth, Dallid and Galqarin have yet to enter, presumably locked in battle outside. In front of you Ireena and Vasili still appear to be fast asleep, Baern is taking care of Father Lucian. Volenta Popofsky seems to have escaped into the night. It is your turn.
Sandu did a double take when Volenta just up and disappeared in a cloud of black. They had her on the ropes, granted they had the numbers advantage, but the fact that she choose to flee must have meant that she either did not expect so much resistance or that their little group was performing better than expected. Either way it meant that it was one less threat to contend with. The sigh of relief was however quickly followed by the realisation that there were still others outside who had not come in yet. And there was the sound of battle still raging right out the church's door.
He spared a quick glance at Father Lucian to make sure he was all right and after seeing the others cluster around him providing aid, Sandu turned on his heels and ran back to the front of the building. On the steps leading to the door he nearly slipped in a mush of blood and fur, the remnants of what was once a swarm of bats. He swung his arms around to steady himself. The weirdest part was not the impromptu balancing act or the dead bats but the rather antiquated vernacular that rung through the air. The Hells is a blighter? He thought as his feet found solid footing again.
It seemed that the group outside was entangled with two ghastly vampires. Sandu wasted little time and instinctively stretched his arm towards the nearest one, his hand palm facing his target. He uttered that foreign word again 'Pleacã!'and a purple bolt of conjured magical energy flew in a daze of green at the vampire.
Move: down to stand on top of the stairs just outside the door. Action: Eldritch Blast aimed at the top one vampire left of Galqarin - roll: 19 Damage: 15

Siege of St. Andral's - Round #5 - Sandu's Turn
Sandu emerges from inside the church. Stepping tentatively onto the carpet of mangled bat parts, he looses an Eldritch Blast at the Gentleman Vampire Spawn to Galqarin's left. Unfortunately, as the bolt streams towards its target, Sandu briefly loses his footing and his attack fails to connect.
Vampire Spawn's (Right) Turn
The Vampire Spawn woman's skin begins to knit back together under Galqarin's grip. She proceeds to rake at the Bugbear with her claws.
Attack: 19 Damage: 7
Attack: 15 Damage: 7
However, Galqarin manages to deftly avoid both attacks. "Let me go!"the woman screams, her face contorting as she bares her fangs, snarling.
Dadeveth - The bats are no more. Relief momentarily washes over you. It is, however, short-lived. Your body still bears the scars of the bats' tiny mouths. A Vampire Spawn stands within striking distance, he seems to be getting the better of Galqarin. The Bugbear has fought valorously but appears to have sustained a lot of damage. He currently holds the other Vampire Spawn in a tight grapple. You get the sense that the next few moments could be vital, it is your turn.
Battlemap:
EDIT: I really wish DnDB didn't do this... I did not edit anything above the dice rolls, I cannot remember them but the highest attack was a 13 and got nowhere near striking Galqarin.
Dadeveth grimaces, not having any good options to use against these vampires. She grips her magic rapier though, and strikes at the closer of the two undead. As she does so she calls out to Galqarin, "Hold on, you are doing great!"
Her rapier misses, yet again. (Rolled the attack, a total of 9, on the game log.) Bardic inspiration to Galqarin, a 1d6. When he uses it he also gains one of the following... Ability Check. The Bardic Inspiration die can be rolled again - choose which roll to use. Attack Roll. The target and each creature of your choice that you can see within 5 ft. of it must succeed on a CON saving throw (DC: 14) or take thunder damage equal to the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die. Saving Throw. The creature using the Bardic Inspiration die gains temporary hit points equal to the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die +4.
Siege of St. Andral's - Round #5 - Dadeveth's Turn
((Oof that is both hilarious and tragic in equal measure!))
Dadeveth's rapier fails to meet its mark. The blade sings in her hands, desperate to wound the Vampire Spawn. Though battered and bruised, the power of Dadeveth's words warm and encourage Galqarin as he desperately goes toe to toe with the Vampires.
Galqarin - The situation is becoming desperate. One Vampire Spawn you can handle (literally), two is a different premise. Nonetheless, Dadeveth stands by your side spurring you on. Sandu has also appeared from the church, perhaps the situation inside is under control. You feel the Vampire Spawn squirm in your hands as she desperately tries to escape your grasp. You are not sure how much further punishment you will be able to withstand, it is your turn.
Holding the squirming she-vampire by its scrawny neck Galqarin, reaches for his raven-headed staff, hoping to deliver a solid thwack. He follows it up with a vicious kick. As he does so, he feels reinvigorated, his most grievous wounds knitting.
Raven headed staff: Attack 11, damage 10 (bludgeoning). Flurry of blows: Attack 23, damage 5 (bludgeoning). Hand of healing: Heal for 4 (rolled as hand of harm in campaign log, as I couldn't see a way to do the healing. I've adjusted HP on sheet).
Siege of St. Andral's - Round #5 - Galqarin's & Dormark's Turns
Unfortunately, as Galqarin hits out with his staff he is unable to bring it down on his foe with as much force as he would like and the vampire shrugs off the attack. However, his follow-up kick lands, seemingly causing the vampire spawn more inconvenience than any real damage."That all you got,"she chides.
Meanwhile, in the church, Dormark manages to rouse Vasili. "What happened? The Father?!" Vasili asks as he looks over to Baern and Lucian. "Thank the Morninglord, he's alright,"he says as he struggles up to his feet. "I assume that the foul creature has fled,"he says drowsily. Baern casts Dormark a look when he asks about the bones. "Fear not, my friend,"the dwarf grunts, "got 'em 'ere. The Father reckons he knows where we might get them purged of their curse - Krezk. Yet another reason why we should head to the place, y'ask me."
"I am glad you are well, Dormark," Baern says warmly. "When that Volenta and her lackeys attacked I feared for you, Galqarin and Sandu." He looks around the church, "speaking of which, where are the others?"
Valerie's Turn
Spotting that the fight may not quite yet be over, Valerie strides after Sandu towards the entrance to the church. "Gal?!" she gasps as she sees the bugbear locked in close combat with two Vampire Spawn. Uttering a prayer and clutching her holy symbols she casts shield of faith on Galqarin.
Dallid - The swarms of tiny bats have been dealt with. However, the greater threat yet remains, Galqarin is currently struggling to fight off two Vampire Spawn. Though the bugbear seems to be cut and bleeding, both the gentleman and the woman vampire spawn seem largely unwounded.
A woman clad in mail armour with a longsword and shield has just appeared at the entrance to the church, she has long white hair and stands around 5'10" tall. It is clear that she is a paladin of sorts, she holds a religious symbol depicting a set of balanced scales resting on a warhammer.
Ferelyon stands in front of you, waiting for your command. It is your turn.

On Dallid’s directive, Ferelyon leaps at the gentleman vampire, gnashing teeth!
(I keep forgetting, there is a DC 11 Str save on a hit or be knocked prone for Ferelyon’s attacks)
Ferelyon bites! Attack: 17 Damage: 11
and with his extra attack, attempts to drag the vampire southwest and away from the others (grapple at advantage due to size difference? 40 feet speed)

Siege of St. Andral's - Round #5 - Dallid's Turn
"Blast and damnations!"the gentleman vampire curses as Ferelyon leaps at him, catching him off guard. The wolf sinks its teeth into the vampire spawn, tearing at his flesh.
The gentleman tries desperately to fight off Ferelyon; 12
He successfully manages to pull the wolf's jaws from his leg, his trousers ripped and torn from the attack.
Ferelyon's second head proceeds to come around and attempt to grab the vampire spawn.
Opposed Grapple: 18
His teeth lock on to the gentleman. Ferelyon drags the vampire spawn away from the others and towards the southwest.
Baern's Turn
Baern looks down at Father Petrovich. "Father?! Are you hurt?" the dwarf reaches down and casts Cure Wounds on Lucian (6).
Vasili's Turn
"How is he?"Vasili asks Baern. "Looks like that she-devil attempted to bite the Father but only grazed his neck," the dwarf explains, "a fortunate escape... If you had arrived moments later." He looks at Dormark, "well it might have been a different story."
Vasili nods sombrely. "Probably best that some of us stay here and makes sure there are no further attempts on the Father's life."
Gentleman Vampire Spawn's Turn
Having been dragged away from the rest of the group by Ferelyon, the Gentleman vampire faces Dallid. "Come on, old chap, now that was hardly sporting was it?"he asks in disbelief with a shake of his head.
"Must you really bring pets into our fracas? Very well, you've asked for it now." The gentleman reaches into his pocket and withdraws a tiny white mouse. "Go get 'em, Dunstable!" he says with a malicious grin.
The mouse proceeds to run up his arm, down his body, and towards Dallid. That is before it takes its leave of the battle and runs into the long grass to the west of the church. "Dunstable?! Dunstable?! Bad mouse!" the vampire spawn shouts, clearly put out by his pet's show of disloyalty. "Apologies for that. He's usually such a well-behaved little mouse, cannot think what has gotten into him."
He sighs deeply before shrugging and assuming a fighting stance. "Have at you, hellhound!" he screams at Ferelyon before attempting to strike at the wolf.
Attack: 17 Damage: 6
Attack: 22 Damage: 9
Both of his claw attacks find their mark, dealing 15 slashing damageto Ferelyon.
Ireena & Father Lucian's Turn
Ireena, having been roused by Vasili, sits up and rubs her head. "Oof, what happened? What was that voice?"she asks as though waking from a daze. She looks across to Baern and Father Lucian. "Baern? Father?"she looks from one to the other. "Don't worry, he'll be fine,"Baern says kindly. "Looks like you were under the effects of a spell. Though who cast it is anyone's guess."
"Look lively," Vasili says to Ireena, "we do not yet know whether Volenta will attempt any other tricks." Ireena gets to her feet and assumes a defensive position over Father Lucian. "If she tries, we'll be ready,"she says confidently.
Though the threat from within the church seems to have subsided, outside the two vampire spawn yet remain. Currently, the vampire woman is being grappled by Galqarin and the gentleman by Ferelyon. Though they both remain seemingly unharmed, you get the sense that a stalemate of sorts is occurring, with neither side getting the upper hand.
Cerio - From your vantage point you can clearly see both targets. The vampire spawn are currently being held in place by both Galqarin and Ferelyon. Will you be able to sway the battle in your favour? It is your turn.
Battlemap:
Initiative:
Cerio - 24 - Light Blue Dagger
Sandu - 22 - Purple Wizard's Hat
Vampire Spawn (Right; Woman) - 21 - Light Orange Bat
Dadeveth - 20 - Light Green Horse
Galqarin - 19 - Dark Blue 'Raven'
Dormark - 19 - Dark Grey 'Robot'
Valerie - 19 -Pink Holy Shield
Dallid - 18 -Dark Green Bow & Ferelyon - Small Dark Green Shield
Vampire Spawn (Left; Gentleman) - 12 - Light Orange Bat

((Cerio Dashes as a bonus action and moves to go east and south around Dallid, stopping east of the vampire woman).
"Tha' one inside done disappeared into smoke! We whalloped 'er, good!" Cerio yells out. He dashes across the front of the church and pivots south. He swings violently with his khopesh, hoping to drive away this one as they'd done inside the church.
Attack: 18 Damage: 5 piercing plus 4sneak attack damage plus 3 necrotic damage if the target is below their hp max.

However, Galqarin manages to deftly avoid both attacks. "Let me go!" the woman screams, her face contorting as she bares her fangs, snarling.

DM - The Call of Strahd (CoS); Feyrealm Campaign, Chapter 0 - Bleak Prospect (BP), Chapter 1 - Destination Unknown (DU)
Dormark shakes Vallasi and says, "Get up."
Looking towards the Father Dormark asks, "Where are the bones?!"

Unfortunately, as Galqarin hits out with his staff he is unable to bring it down on his foe with as much force as he would like and the vampire shrugs off the attack. However, his follow-up kick lands, seemingly causing the vampire spawn more inconvenience than any real damage. "That all you got," she chides.
Meanwhile, in the church, Dormark manages to rouse Vasili. "What happened? The Father?!" Vasili asks as he looks over to Baern and Lucian. "Thank the Morninglord, he's alright," he says as he struggles up to his feet. "I assume that the foul creature has fled," he says drowsily. Baern casts Dormark a look when he asks about the bones. "Fear not, my friend," the dwarf grunts, "got 'em 'ere.

"Blast and damnations!" the gentleman vampire curses as Ferelyon leaps at him, catching him off guard.
"How is he?" Vasili asks Baern.
"Come on, old chap, now that was hardly sporting was it?" he asks in disbelief with a shake of his head.
Both of his claw attacks find their mark, dealing 15 slashing damage to Ferelyon.
Ireena & Father Lucian's Turn
Ireena, having been roused by Vasili, sits up and rubs her head. "Oof, what happened? What was that voice?" she asks as though waking from a daze. She looks across to Baern and Father Lucian. "Baern? Father?" she looks from one to the other. "Don't worry, he'll be fine," Baern says kindly. "Looks like you were under the effects of a spell. Though who cast it is anyone's guess."
"Look lively," Vasili says to Ireena, "we do not yet know whether Volenta will attempt any other tricks." Ireena gets to her feet and assumes a defensive position over Father Lucian. "If she tries, we'll be ready," she says confidently.

Siege of St. Andral's - Round #6 - Initiative

Attack: 18 Damage: 5 piercing plus 4 sneak attack damage plus 3 necrotic damage if the target is below their hp max.
