Baern's handaxe crashes into the wooden ribcage of the scarecrow attacking Dormark; smouldering splinters and burning crow feathers explode out of the construct's chest. A large portion of the scarecrow is now missing, though it lives to fight on.
Valerie, the battle is unfolding before your eyes - your Warforged companion stands clearly injured and frozen to the spot, Alder's javelin is just about visible sticking out of the near by tree, Baern has just thrown his handaxe through the nearest scarecrow's chest! It is now up to you - it is your turn.
Current battlemap (Valerie is the light-pink Holy Shield token);
As Valerie rushes toward the scarecrows, Ioben raises his bow, aiming at the scarecrow closest to the group. These things needed to die as quick as possible.
Shortbow: Attack: 18 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. Sneak Attack (if the first one is still standing): 3
((Valerie - you can indeed reach the nearest scarecrow, you are immediately to the north of Dormark. Your attack (natural 20) critically hit the scarecrow, can you roll a further d8 damage? The scarecrow is close to death, you may yet dispatch it!))
Valerie charges in and delivers a mighty swing to the scarecrows chest. The attack lands heavily and a loud CRAAAAACK can be heard as its wooden frame splinters and splits - the monstrous scarecrow is clearly on the brink of perishing as little remains of its burning body.
Watching the scene unfold before him, Ioben chooses his time to act. It's a difficult shot as he attempts to aim his shortbow between his comrades at the blazing scarecrow beyond. Loosing the arrow it deftly whizzes past both Dormark and Valerie, unfortunately it continues to fly on past the scarecrow's head and is lost to the night.
Sandu, you know that time is of the utmost importance. Your companions seem to be just about coping with one of the scarecrows, but the other is fine and has yet to act. Your time is now - it is your turn.

Fear gripped Sandu's heart. Not only was he lost in a strange land with a bunch of people he never knew but now scarecrows, Damned scarecrows!, were assaulting them. First the armour walked about and now sacks of cloth and hay joined the fray! Nothing made sense.
Old survival instinct honed to perfection took over in the absence of rational thought and a decision was made. Not wanting to abandon the others, for strength is numbers is a strong argument, Sandu found that his feet had carried him next to the closest tree. From his new position he had ample chance to get a good look at the things that were attacking them. The smell of smoke stinged his nostrils and Sandu couldn't help but feel a perverse satisfaction in seeing the mockery of a man burn. He reached for his crossbow but found nothing.
Bollocks. Sandu thought. He normally carried a crossbow for protection but now, in the moment he would actually need it, of course he would have it safely tucked away in his bag. And taking it out now and loading it would take too much time. Damn. Damn! If only I could do magic! If only-
Sandu's eyes widened at his own realisation. He could do magic. Or so he thought ever since he woke up on his back in this land. He might as well test it out. No time like the present, as some of his mentors liked to say. Sandu searched his memory for the right incantation, one that he had seen many others use to lob bolts of fire at each other. More fire would always be good in these trying times. Suddenly a cold chill descended down Sandu's spine. His eyes turned glassy. He raised his hand and spoke a word he did not know: 'Pleacã!'
A bolt of energy sprung forth from his hand and streaked towards the burning scarecrow. But rather than the comforting red glow of a fire bolt, his was purple and seemed to drain the heat around it. Sandu had no idea what he had just cast.
OOC: I actually like the emblems more than the portraits ^^ Movement: 2 squares up and trying to use the tree as cover Action: Eldritch Blast against the burning (most damaged) scarecrow - Attack: 18 Damage: 2
Sandu watched the purple bolt zoomed towards it's intended target, its glow casting an eerie purple light over the landscape. His mouth gaped as he watched the next sequence of events transpire. One second there stood a flaming construct, knife like hands ready to strike his companion, and the following second there stood two smoking wooden stumps, the creature's legs.
The purple bolt had smashed through the scarecrow's ribcage, where it had ever so briefly pulsated, before blasting outwards and completely decimating it's entire upper body. What was left of the scarecrow was most certainly dead. Smouldering patches of straw and pieces of wood littered the landscape.

To say the remaining scarecrow was even slightly perturbed at death of his companion would be an overstatement; it's immediate thoughts were nothing more than dispatching the group standing in front of it.
Spotting Dormark and Valerie standing in front of it, the scarecrow charges! It makes two claw attacks at the most pressing threat - Valerie.
Scarecrow Claw Attack Rolls:
Attack: 10 Damage: 6
Attack: 8 Damage: 8
The first attack makes it through Valerie's defences and lands dealing 5 slashing damage, raking her sword arm. The second attack Valerie can see coming, she deftly blocks it with her shield.
Dormark - watching the scarecrow that had damaged you be completed obliterated in front of your eyes snapped you out of your Frightened state. You stand badly wounded as the second scarecrow injures your companion, Valerie. It's time for fight or flight, which will you choose? - it is your turn.
Grabbing his mace tightly in his grip Dormark recalls the feeling of relief that the monster was destroyed, but over that he felt something more prominent than that, anger. Anger at the creature who made him feel that way and anger at the foe standing before him now attacking his ally. He yells, "I'll will not let you have it your way you fiend! Moradin reforged my body so I may continue to strike down evil!"
With that, Dormark's body visibly appears to start repairing itself. Unfortunately, be it blinded by anger or frustration, his attack does not land on the fiendish scarecrow.
Alder, you know what must be done - it is your turn.
Jaw set, Alder dashes forward. Seeing that the scarecrow was focused on Dormark and Valerie, he moves to flank the monster, hoping to strike while it was distracted by the others. A split second later the torch in his left hand lifts high and smashes down towards his target. At nearly the same instant his empty right hand strikes out in an attempt to take hold of the monster and hold it in place for his allies to better destroy it.
Movement to the space on the opposite side of the scarecrow from Dormark.
Action, attack with torch as an improvised weapon, advantage for flanking: 16 Damage 4+1 Fire damage
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alder's attack strikes true as the torch comes crashing down on the scarecrow. Though the blow itself does not appear to have dealt much damage the fiery tip grabs the constructs attention.
As Alder continues with an attempted grapple the scarecrow wildly tries to evade.
Scarecrow Contest Grapple Check (Dexterity)

Fortunately, for Alder, the scarecrow's attempt to evade the grapple fails and it is now Grappled.
Baern - you see Alder struggling in hand-to-hand with the remaining scarecrow, but he seems to be getting the better of it. It is your time to act, now where did that Handaxe get to?! - it is your turn.

Baern frantically runs up to where the other scarecrow fell and quickly looks for his axe. If he can't spot it immediately and pick it up in time to help in the fight, he'll settle for drawing a dagger from his hip for the attack.
Weaving around the remnants of the destroyed scarecrow, Baern dashes to where he believed his handaxe may have fell. Breathing a swift sigh of relief, he is able to quickly find the weapon lying upon the ground just past the still smoking leg-stumps.
Frantically Baern scoops up the weapon, moves alongside Valerie, and takes a swing at the remaining, grappled scarecrow. THWAACK! Baern’s attack lops off a hefty chunk of the construct’s right arm.
Valerie - it is now time for retribution to be met on this damnable fiend! - it is your turn.
A groan can be heard from Valerie as the claw slashes through her armor. "You are going down now, False creature!" She swings her swords down at the creature's shoulder.
Seeing the first of the scarecrows fall, Ioben felt emboldened. Quickly he advanced toward the remaining scarecrow, moving 30ft directly toward it, before taking up his stance again and releasing another arrow. This time he hoped it would fly truer than the last one.
As Valerie strikes down at the scarecrow she feels a pang of pain in her arm throwing off her balance and causing the attack to glance wide.
Ioben's arrow flew true. The arrow pierced the side of the scarecrow's sackcloth head, lodging there, the arrow's plume still visible. The attack appeared to take some of the fight out of the scarecrow as it struck.
Sandu - the remaining scarecrow has been roughed up by your companions, it appears to have sustained heavy damage. Could you be the one to deliver a second killing blow? - it is your turn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sandu's senses snapped back to the present. His mind was a bit fuzzy on what had just transpired but one of the scarecrows had been reduced to a pile of charred metal and burnt metal. That was a good thing. Looking over to the other, he saw that it was similarly on the brink of destruction. Could he repeat the same feat twice? Sandu did not know.
But from the haze of his memories, a word emerged. Sandu still had no idea what it meant but he did know that it contained power. 'Pleacã!'He spoke once more in that unknown tongue. He felt a familar cold, or rather a lack of heat, spring forth from his hand and watched the purple bolt of energy streak towards the remaining scarecrow, still unsure of just what it was he released.
