'Inn keeper... Not that it's your business. I'm just here to tell you that there's some strange sounds coming from f'ward on the ship. Might need to teach those foolish prisoners a lesson.'
The dwarf doesn't suspect a thing. "Right...of course. I'll go check on that. Meanwhile, see to your duties. You won't get the same commission for just lying about all day." The dwarf then leaves Vestigar, and follows in the direction of the human crew member. Fayne, now both of them are approaching in the direction of you and the majority of the party.
Vestigar keeps an eye on the retreating dwarf and human crew members. Ready to spring into action if they should discover Fayne and the others. With a passive perception of 12 would I notice any life boats nearby?
With no other better ideas, Fayne takes a few steps down and casts Minor Illusion, trying to make the opening look like the rest of the deck in hope that the people above won't be able to find it, at least until she can think of a better idea.
(OOC: if the entrance is too big Fayne still casts the spell and tries to cover as much of the opening as possible, in a way that'd look as natural as possible. Also, I assume she's wearing clothes so technically she should have the required material components.)
Vestigar, you don't immediately see any lifeboats. However, you do see that the piles of rope go over the deck and there are small ladders next to the ropes, implying there may be life boats tied to the outside of the ship's hull.
Fayne, your illusion covers most of the entrance, leaving only a sliver of entrance left. The dwarf walks by it, muttering something about needing to repair the floorboards of the ship. The human follows, both being fooled by the illusion and believing the entryway to the holding deck is farther down.
(Sorry but I am going to have to drop out. This is going way too fast for me to keep up with and I'm going to be lost due to my work hours so it's not fair to me or all of you to hold things up. Good luck with the game.)
(Alright thank you for letting us know. If you ever are able to or have a desire to return, just let me know - you'll always have a space in the campaign :) Have a good day)
OOC: I am definitely eager and trying to keep on top of the posts and contribute so I we need to slow this down a bit I understand and would be willing to accommodate.
(No problem. Wish I could stay but I seem to have a hard time finding a campaign that works for my schedule. Anyway good luck and I hope you can find someone good to replace Urgoth.)
(Glad to have been playing with you. I probably need to pick up the pace a bit too. Real life's been busy, especially today. I also don't have charm person, which would be really handy here -_-.)
Aurlan watches as the two pass by the hatch. How close are they to the edge of the ship - could they be pushed off? How far are the ladders for the lifeboats from the hatch? Are the crew members on board just the 5 that are on deck or have we seen more while we were boarding/being tied up?
Aurlan, the figures are about 10 feet away from the edge of the ship, so they'd have to be pushed closer to the edge in order to be pushed off. The ladders are 20 feet from the hatch. As far as you are aware, the 5 people on this top deck are the only crew members for the ship.
Kiera, you notice no substantial body language that would be indicative of suspicion from the nearby crew members.
Fayne sighs with relief. "Well, crisis averted. Now what?" She asks as she turns back to the others. "We can't just stay here forever, and they'll understand something is wrong soon enough."
she continues watching the crew speaking incredibly quietly
"We need to find our gear and that illusion won't keep them for long, we'll see how if our deceptive friend can get them away then make for another part of the ship... or we can just fight them there aren't too many of them"

"Someone is coming!" Fayne whispers to those standing behind her. "What should we do?"

Kiera gets ready to cast Spiritual Weapon just in case the guard sees through the illusion almost holding her breath as they draw near

Vestigar will head to the front of the ship and look for a way below becks to find his gear.
There's an algorithm for that. 🦏
Vestigar, about 30 feet away, you see another staircase leading down to the lower decks of the ship.
Kiera crouches down low ready to dash out of cover at a moments notice if she is needed but otherwise stays silent and watching Vestigar
