"As good as new ... hope you can sew the holes in your clothes yourself, cause that is not my business."
Kassiopeia will wait until the prize crew is on board the 'Sinful Devil' and return with Spyro and Ritha to the 'Jester' ... (assuming they will go back, otherwise she will take the last dingy back to the 'Jester')
The crew that will be manning the Sinful Devil row over on a rowboat. This includes Rhordon, plus two of the shiphands. Along with them are five of the Spears of Thassa. The rowboat then ferries the group of you back to the Proud Jester, before returning to the Sinful Devil once more.
From the deck of the Jester, you watch as the hatch is thrown open and the nine remaining pirates are ushered up and onto the deck. They are quickly disarmed and relieved of their gear, before being brought back down into the hold once more.
A while later the Spears of Thassa are ferried back to the Proud Jester. They carry the assorted gear, taken from the pirates, and lay it out on the deck of the Jester.
"As those who risked their lives, you have first choice of the spoils of victory." Gnorcys says to the group. "Thassa was clearly with us this day..."
Laying on the deck is an assortment of somewhat shabby, but serviceable gear. This includes:
8 light crossbows.
8 scimitars
42 crossbow bolts
8 sets of leather armor
2 longswords
1 set of studded leather
1 set of chain mail.
33 GP
26 SP
Kanlos looks through the assembled gear quickly, "I believe I'm comfortable with my own weapons. As for the coin, share amongst us and the officers somehow?"
"The coin is yours to share among your company." Gnorcys says with a shake of her scaled head, her purple crest gleaming in the sunlight. "The Sinful Devil is also yours to do as you wish with, though we may have to see if the bandits stole her from someone else prior to giving you full rights to her."
Io will take a Long Sword. He then sits near the railing of the Jester and watches the Sinful Devil. He utters prayers to Athreos for the dead captain.
Ritha thanks Kass, feeling much better than she did before. After journeying back to the Jester, she examines the spoils of war, taking a scimitar and five of each coin for herself.
“We should sell the rest, or donate it to the crew if they have need of anything here. But for the spare coins, that is... I believe offering the remainder to the gods as a thanks for their watchful eye would he the best use of them.“
Io says, overhearing the suggestion for offering the remainder coin to the gods, "I second the suggestion to offer the remainder to the gods. Perhaps we could even use some of it for funeral purposes for the dead pirate captain? I am not familiar with the funeral rites at sea."
Xerronios finishes his song and strolls over to the rest in time to hear Ritha's suggestion. "A wise suggestion, Ritha. However, the pirate captain has had his due and doesn't need and certainly doesn't deserve anything further. Let him be judged by his deeds. As for the other items I also agree offering them to the crew is a good idea, with your permission of course, Captain," he says with a nod at Gnorcys.
"As for the ship we've captured, if none has a prior claim, let us wait to see what fate may have in store for it, or us. There may be need of it in the future. None here can say how the threads of fate will weave." Perhaps Klothys had a purpose in bringing the two ships together.
In fact, he should ask Klothys what to do or at least ask if selling the ship would serve fate better. “I will cast an augury and see if selling the ship will serve the needs of fate.”
Setting himself down in the prow with his legs forming an enclosed space, Xerronios pulls out the necessary tools...odd 8-sided dice. He murmurs to Klothys, asking if fate will be served by the selling of the captured ship. Then he drops the dice between his legs.
Spyro would take his share of coins and pocket them into his leather. "I wouldn't mind a fishing vessel of my own!" the satyr would say with a smile as the stiffness in his shoulder seems to loosen up a bit. "But I bet it could fetch a nice bit of coin as well! We could sell it and offer half the coin to Thassa and split the rest between us." Spyro would add excitedly.
(Those items not taken by a PC will be put in the ship's armory, to be used as needed by ship crew.)
With direction from Ritha and Kanlos, as well as help from Io, Gnorcys puts together a Thossa-based burial rite for the Merchant pirate captain. Prayers are sent up to Thassa and Athreos. After the rite is completed, the pirate captain is sent to the bottom of the sea, wearing his longsword.
As the body sinks under the waves faintly glowing wisps of fog coalesce into shapes in the air. The wisps take on the shapes of a funeral procession, carrying a casket. It lasts for several minutes, then is blown away with the wind.
"Athreos seems to be with us this day as well." Gnorcys says with a nod of approval, glancing to the group.
Soon the sail is hoisted again, and the Proud Jester starts out once more, now with the Sinful Devil close behind.
That night, Io is going to pray to Athreos for forgiveness for any misdeeds that he might have unknowingly committed and for the wisdom to tackle future hardships that he might face. He also prays for his lost wife and the success of his journey.
As a note though, that spell says things that will happen in the next 30 minutes. I did put an a post though, as I think extending that time on some situations is called for, especially for a follower of Klothys.
Xerronios gathers up his odd dice and stands. "Klothys advises selling the ship is not a good idea." At least in term of serving the needs of fate, but my companions might have their own ideas about the value of that.
"Well there are not that many places I would go that selling of a ship would be practical anyway." Gnorcys says with a shrug. "My suggestion is to find a place to dock her, and pay for her to be cared for until you can return for her." She nods towards the horizon. "We will be a couple days before we reach our first port, and where we can turn the pirates over for justice. You can see there if you can dock the Sinful Devil there until you can return for her."
Kanlos watches the procession under the sea quietly, reflecting on his narrow miss of attending his own procession.
During the discussion of what to do with the ship, he shrugs, "I can't say I have any use for it, not now at least. But out of curiosity, how many people would it take to crew it?"
The rest of the day passes uneventfully. There is some fishing, some chatting, but nothing overly noteworthy on either account.
The majority of the crew of the ship take their assigned bunks for the night, and everyone gets a long rest.
The next day the sun is high and bright as you continue onward...
Around mid-morning you spot Aughus talking to Gnorcys. a short time later the ship starts to change course a bit, and you find yourself heading just slightly in a different direction.
Gnorcys comes to speak to you as you notice the change in direction. "August has had a vision from Pharika, concerning a ship that we can reach in the next couple of hours." She informs you. Her demeaner is calm, but clearly worried. "There is likely to be some disease related to this situation, but we dare not offend Pharika by ignoring the vision..."
Ritha nods with a bit of concern. „I fear that assisting those who suffer from ailments is not my area of expertise... my service to Thassa was always more spiritual in nature than corporeal. Still... we should do what we can.“

"It only takes 3 to crew a ship like that." Gnorcys says with a shrug. "It can be done with one or two, but three is best."
Ritha nods with a bit of concern. „I fear that assisting those who suffer from ailments is not my area of expertise... my service to Thassa was always more spiritual in nature than corporeal. Still... we should do what we can.“
