Krikoris makes sure they've closed the doors behind them as best as possible, then lights his own torch, "The rest of you probably need your hands free more than I do."
Mal feels along the border of the door where it meets the frame, looking carefully for traps.
Perception: 16
The door is untrapped and though swollen moves easily under Mals touch before the perished wooden hinges crumble from the movement and the door collapses inwards.
Looking into the room the companions see that the walls are lined with dried, stretched hides here, from ancient leopard skins to crumbling bullhides. Against one wall, a frame stretches the skin of a Lokanan woman- and beside her, the much smaller hide of an infant. Old vats are crusted with ancient, foul-smelling tanning residue.
Rushdi is stunned for several long moments before moving forward. He starts to remove the skins of the baby and woman, looking for identifying marks. He'll wrap them as reverantly as he can. "Someone out there deserves to know what happened to their kin. And someone else deserves to pay for this."
Is this something a tiger shark priest like rushdi could handle, or are there other sects meant to deal with death etc?
Gajesh does not seem bothered by the smell of the hides, used to eating raw food as much as the others ate cooked food. He does look annoyed at the waste of the hides, growling lightly. "Wasteful..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mal wipes his mouth and stifles a gag as he pops his head back into the room. "Worth a look around, at any rate, there may be something useful in here."

All of the hides are far to perished to be salvagable, but between two tanning vats Mal does find a small item: A bone ring inlaid with gold crescents.
(any meaning to a ring like this? Is bone a common material for jewelry?)
( Its not Lokanan in design. Bone is a relatively common artisan material but not used much for personal jewelry.......also both he and mal note that despite the long time down here the bone seems to be un-yellowed and polished.)
"The ring... It isn't Lokanan. It also is untarnished by time. It may be magical. Seeing where we are, it may also be cursed. If we have some time to examine it, I have the means to identify it or examine it in more detail. Or put it away, and I can do so later." Rushdi eyes it nervously and hands it back to Mal for him to decide for himself.
Mal balks at the mention of curses, and handles the ring as gingerly as he can. "I'll put it in my pouch, po, and we can figure out what it does when it's safe to do so." He then heads out of this creepy chamber as quickly as possible. "Which way now?"
( To the south is a single door and the corridor ends. To the north is the door they came out of and the corridor turns east...likely back toward the way they came in.)

(Do these skins look recent? I go the impression they were left over from the fall of the temple?)
Mal throws up a little bit at the sight, and does not enter the room.
( They are indeed extremely old and fragile, likely from before the overthrow.)
Krikoris shakes his head, "I think we're long past that."

Rushdi looks curiously at Mal. "What's that you have there?"

Mal shakes himself out of his stupor, and hands the ring over. "Looks like a ring, po. The gold could be worth something, a meal or two at least."

Mal pads down to the south, and listens at the line door while he waits for his companions to catch up.

Mal fancies for a moment that he hears a slight rustling somewhere beyond the door but then all is quiet and silent as he listens harder.
