Erevan looks to Olwer and speaks quietly in Elvish. "I am beginning to wonder if there is more to Urdlen's desire for acceptance than simply the crown of Pudding King. The stakes here may be much higher than we know. We'll have to express that to Nanny when we speak to her. Interesting too how our nasty friend never tells anyone else his true name, at least from what we've seen so far."

''You may be on to something. Let's warn the kid. Then off to Nanny Cowslip?
If Erevan agrees, Olwer will move near the kid in a way that seems accidental and then chat rather loudly (in Common) with Olwer about fair-ground experiences, soon bringing up a scary incident 'at another fair' in which a man choked half to death and lost the ability to speak above a whisper. Poor fellow shouldn't have shoved so much down the old pie hole at once.
Nice, Oundle, take some inspiration, you made me chuckle. I think your story was effective. You can almost literally see the wheels turning in the young lad's mind.
Then he straightens up and says, matter-of-factly,
"Bear with me, please, Mistress Cowslip. The gnome Patcher Moldwarp claims that he's really the mole-god Urdlen. He refers to you as 'Cyrolallee.' I'm not sure what that means. And he claims that you are preventing him from becoming the Pudding King, which is what he says he wants. Respect, he says. Does this make the least bit of sense to you? Oh, and the orange jelly bean will make me invisible, isn't that right, Mistress? "
Erevan is glad that Olwer has put their cards on the table, face up, so to speak. Nanny Cowslip has proven overly reluctant to talk about these things. He waits for her response, but he's more than ready to add details about the time loop they have found themselves stuck in.
He briefly checks in with Fez to see what Patcher Moldwarp/Urdlen might be up to at this point.
Nanny Cowslip gives you an odd look. Clearly she was not expecting this.
“Well now, that’s a lot to take in,” she says carefully. “But honestly I haven’t had dealings with this Patcher fellow. Sounds a bit unhinged? Do you believe what he’s saying?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erevan tries to get a sense of how forthright Nanny Cowslip is being.
Insight 15
Erevan takes a breath. "He claims to be responsible for something my friend and I are experiencing. Something I can only call a 'time loop.' For us, at some point, we find ourselves restarting the first day of the fair over and over again. This is our third first day of Pudding Faire. In fact on day two, we were murdered by bandits only to wake up fresh again on day three, which is today."
He sighs. "I am not unfamiliar with the ways of the Fey, to say the least, and this is at least as powerful as the sort of time bending they are capable of. Patcher claims it is his doing, and that it will keep going forever until he is named Pudding King and you accept him. And of course he also has the ability to transform the mayor into a toad. That is far more than a simple magic trick."
Erevan lets that sink in, looking right at the woman, breathing slowly to keep his composure. He's pretty sure all the cards are on the table now.
Nanny thinks a bit more. Then her kittens get up and spread out, stretching and licking themselves, but they’re large enough that they give the three of you a bit of privacy from the other Faire-goers.
Insight: she’s being forthright. She’s not a maliciously deceptive person. That would seem impossible for someone like her.
“Gods above and below, I believe you. But I have no recollection of this ‘time loop’, so it seems I am affected. Surely on previous days I would have tried to put a stop to it? So the question is, why hasn’t that happened yet? Have you observed a confrontation between myself and Patcher?”
''I haven't seen such a confrontation, no. The last time he changed the Mayor into a toad, you said it might wear off. Patcher had already left the big tent, maybe the fair. I'm not sure where he went."
Olwer shrugs.
"I don't know if I believe that he is a god, but he believes it. And honestly, if I were convinced of it, I'd be falling down to serve him and thus save my own skin. If all he wanted was to be Pudding King, anyway.... My friend has suggested it could be more. There might be some special significance to the prize or the game. What's it called? Yondalla's Luck?"
She gives you “a look”, the kind that only a wizened, knowledgable elder can pull off. It seems to say, “Leave well enough alone” and “respect your elders” and “don't expect me to tell you everything” all at once.
((I’ll repeat my post #457 you can make a religion check with advantage))
As you remember things you’ve heard about Urdlen, another memory rises from your religious knowledge: Cyrollalee. You’ve heard that name before... she is the halfling deity of hearth and home, who embodies the spirit of friendship and hospitality that dwells within all halflings. Her titles include The Hand of Fellowship, The Hearthkeeper, and The Faithful.
See above, Oundle, I don’t think I can add much more to the religion issue.
Nanny Cowslip smiles at the mention of Yondalla’s Luck. “What a fun game. Have you tried it? This Patcher fellow should give it a shot if he’s so keen to be the Pudding King. It’s only fair! Do you know where this Patcher fellow is now?”

Olwer leaves it to Erevan to answer any query about Patcher's whereabouts.
"Maybe we should enter the contest, Erevan. I doubt we can win. We're such big targets! Still, we might gain some insight into what's going on, why this game and its prize matters so much to Patcher...or Urdlen. What do you think? Feel like dodging some apples?"
Erevan laughs at the suggestion and agrees to play the game. "Why not? If we lose, we can always try again tomorrow...and tomorrow...and tomorrow..." HIs voice fades away and he looks a little sheepish, seeming as if he didn't mean to say that last part out loud.
In response to Nanny Cowslip's question, he reaches out to Fez to take another look for the mad gnome wizard-god.

You spot the young halfling lad that you recognize from before, the one that choked. He has just arrived and is observing the proceedings for now.

You're back at Nanny Cowslip's. She looks as serene and happy as ever, visiting with faire-goers. Her extremely large kittens regard you calmly.
Olwer bows politely.
