"It's been a while since I've been here. I can lead you to his villa." Syndra says, as she guides them throughout the Port. On the way there, she continues talking. "Wakanga is one of seven merchant princes. Each merchant prince attained their position through wealth. Wakanga O'tamu is a mage, like myself. He deals in magic and lore. Although you'll most likely will need to arrange a meeting with another merchant prince, Jobal, for when you wish to venture into the jungle. You'll need to hire a Guide, and Jobal is the merchant prince of guides." Syndra concludes, as she directs them to Wakanga's villa.
Syndra brings you inside. (You arrive at 1 on the map.) Paintings, statues, murals, frescoes, tapestries, and oil lamps meant to impress guests decorate this room. Syndra brings you in further. This pleasant, breezy, tiled courtyard includes a splashing fountain and green plants. Visitors can refresh themselves in a washroom to the left of the entrance before meeting residents of the villa. The entrance is guarded by 3 guards.
"Right this way." Syndra guides them to the right, into the sitting area. (You're not at 2 on the map.) This is both a waiting area and a meeting area for guests who aren’t known to the villa’s master, and therefore won’t necessarily be given access to the inner chambers of the house. Decorative columns support the arched doorway from area 1. Rugs and comfortable pillows are arranged on the floor. Narrow windows look into the garden, but these double as arrow slits in case visitors aren’t as friendly as they claim to be.
"Wakanga will join us shortly." Syndra says, having notified the guards of their arrival and now need to wait for him to meet them.

Walking into the large entrance Hrothgar looks around, not having seen many entrances so regal. At the waiting room he will stand near one of the narrow windows looking out to see into the garden, trying to see if anyone is there or what that part of the place is like.
As he looks out a fly flies through the window into his eye and he spends a moment rubbing his eye instead of looking out.
Hrothgar will then sit down to wait.
Perception for glancing into the garden 13, trying to see people or anything that stands out.
Irzhalin silently analyzes the exits and entries to the villa, noting windows, guards, doors, and anything that can provide a way in or out of the edifice. This was more of a habitual activity learned from his years scouting and ambushing. He assumes a position closer to the entrance than one would normally be, choosing to stand, rather than sit.
After several minutes of waiting, an older gentlemen dressed in ornate robes enters the room with two guards in tow. "Wakanga! It's been a while!" Syndra says enthusiastically, and immediately coughs from speaking so loudly.
"Take it easy Syndra, I know you're not well." Wakanga tries to assist her, but she politely refuses.
"Don't worry about me, I've hired initiates from the Order of the Gauntlet to help me out." Syndra says reassuringly, as she points to the four of you. "They wanted to meet you." Syndra concludes.
Wakanga nods and smiles. "Pleasant, my friends. I am Wakanga O'tamu. Who might you be, and what do you seek from me?"
Aer will bow deeply to Wakanga. "As Ydnra has said, we are here to stop the curse. If you have any information on that we may not already now, or perhaps a location to begin our investigation. We are new to Chult, and help and allies are what we seek before we head out."
Gar smiles. "I am Gar Bleeding Hands, servant to Illmater. Thank you for taking the time to meet with us. We heard about this curse and wanted to help."
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Irzhalin calmly greets Wakanga, echoing the same sentiments as his companions. "Is there anything specific we should know before heading out into the area to begin our investigations? Is there any place which you are more certain lies the issue we seek to resolve?" he adds after the others have asked their questions.
"Everything I know about the death curse, I've learned from Syndra. I'm afraid I know as much as you do. Other adventurers have attempted to scour the jungles of Chult to learn of this; they've never returned. That's why we're grateful that the Order of the Gauntlet has assimilated in Camp Righteous in the jungle, to combat the undead. I'd suggest meeting with them when you're able, they should be able to give you more information. I'd also suggest hiring a guide before heading into the jungle. The jungle of Chult is vast, easy to get lost if you don't know where you're going. You can visit one of the inns and review the bulletin boards for guides available to hire."
Irzhalin expresses thanks for the information before turning to the rest of the group. "It seems seeking a guide is our next step. Shall we get ourselves a guide and head for Camp Righteous?"
Syndra chimes in, when she stops coughing. "Yes, you'll need to hire a guide when you explore the jungles. Once you meet your contact, they'll be able to assist you with hiring a guide."Syndra concludes, and will describe the directions to get to Kaya's House of Repose; an inn in the Red Bazaar of the Port where they'll most likely find their contact, Undril Silvertusk, and may have a chance of hiring a guide.
The party leaves Wakanga's villa, and will move through the Port to traverse toward the inn that Syndra described. You'll notice the humid climate in the port, it may make outsiders quite thirsty in no time. Something native to Chult, are dinosaurs. You've heard rumors, but never would've thought it to be true. Medium and Large dinosaurs are used as beasts of burden to haul two-wheeled carts, to hoist heavy loads on cranes, and to tow boats along the canals. Flowers, green plants, and vines grow everywhere, seeming to spring out of the building stones themselves. The profusion of greenery needs constant tending to prevent roots and shoots from damaging buildings or tile roofs. The city’s defensive walls and towers are topped with colorful awnings to shield guards from the sun and rain.
All streets within the city walls are paved with cobblestones or flagstones, and they have deep rain gutters as much as 2 feet wide. Residents of Port Nyanzaru pay little attention to any but the heaviest deluge. As the party draw closer to Kaya's House of Repose, they'll spot Tabaxi minstrels wandering the streets, performing for anyone who tosses them a few coins. Walls divide the city into districts, and the open archways above the streets are painted with murals of dinosaurs, mountains, and mythic heroes. Crumbling ancient buildings covered with vines and lichens indicate the city’s great age.
The party eventually gets to the Red Bazaar of the Market Ward, where they are able to find Kaya's House of Repose. Upon entry, you notice the place is clean and well kept. Everyone is behaving in orderly fashion and are dressed sophisticated. Syndra described the other inn, Thundering Lizard, to be the opposite. One of the patrons of this inn stands out to you. She's seated at a table by herself, and she's wearing a chain shirt with clothing resembling the Order of the Gauntlet. The half-orc priest looks up and spots you and waves you over.
"So glad you could make it!" the woman greets you politely. "I am Undril Silvertusk, nice to make your acquaintance." upon introducing herself, she'll gesture to the available chairs at the table, as if she'd like for you to take a seat with her.

All the dinosaurs and ramping floral growth catches Hrothgars eye. Not being used to such an environment. Taking in all the sights Hrothgar will look at the murals and city trying to determine what he knows about its history.
A pleasure to meet you, I am Hrothgar Densfell. He says before taking a seat. We were told you could help us start our journey here. I believe a guide is most welcome in these parts.
History check for the ancient buildings and murals 22. Does Hrothgar know anything about this place's past? Damn 2 nat 1's in a row for Hrothgar..
Hrothgar isn't familiar with Chult at all, being a foreigner, he's never had the time to study the culture of Port Nyanzaru or the island of Chult.
Undril Silvertusk has a satchel that she shows to you, with is filled with bundles of letters. "The soldiers and knights residing at Camp Vengeance have written letters to their families and loved ones, and these are the replies. I'm to deliver these letters, and I also need to bring medical supplies and rations for their war effort against the undead menace of Chult." she stows the satchel away.
"We will in fact need a guide, as traveling through the jungle can be very dangerous. Guides are experienced explorers of the jungle and would keep us on the right path. Although, Camp Vengeance is right on River Soshenstar, so we could most likely get there easily, but having a guide would make the journey more comfortable. You know what they say; hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. You can find the guides available for hire on the bulletin board." she points a finger to a bulletin board near the bar, with has an assortment of fliers, messages, and pamphlets pinned to it.
If anyone checks the bulletin board, they'll find the following adverts for guides: (In order; Azaka Stormfang, Eku, Hew Hackinstone, and Salida.)
Hrothgar looks over the list. Then over to Gar Yes she seems qualified. However we do not have time to go on a personal quest before completing our own mission.
It is a great importance and should take precedence on any personal vendetta.

I am Hrothgar, we have come to find a cure. We have come to you to ensure we are prepared for these lands.
