The Teifling, whose gender you can not easily ascertain. Smiles and nods, beginning to play. As three bards begin to ply their trade at once, the rough-looking folk begin to perk up. A foot taps here and there. The barkeep sidles over to Rendall, "I would be more than pleased to mark Nightstone's location on the map of someone whose companions would be willing to play until closing." He smiles half warmly. Rendell, roll perception.
(not sure if Mee would have heard the whisper from the bartender, but for fun, there's probably no harm...)
"Rendell, how would coin have assisted the half-elf with his memory? Perhaps the properties of a specific metal come into play, such as being reagents for a spell, but he did not specific a type of coin or metal." The warforged seems truly curious and perplexed.
Rendell sees the barkeep mark the spot on his map. He sits back, downs his drink and orders another one and enjoys the show. When he feels no one is watching he closes his eyes and thanks his master. Then he focusses on Mee; "With coin we mean money, Mee. And if he gets more money from me he may be willing to tell me more then he first was because I helped him. That's how it works in humanoid societies. Try it sometimes."

"Yes, I do have 'coin' and 'money' documented as synonyms in my appendices. I thank you for further confirmation of that relationship, which I now calculate should hold true 99.9 percent of the time across at least eleven unique languages."
He seems to take a second to think. "You are asserting that while his words dictated a need for your assistance with his brain functions, he was implying, based on the rules of dialog in humanoid societies, that his intention was to obtain your help in a different manner in exchange for his knowledge. I shall document this correlation in my appendix for humanoid social interactions and continue to collect data to govern my functions in this area."
Mee's companions find that he seems quite curious to study all aspects of humanoid society, from dialog and humanoid interactions to why art exists, why people play music or dance, why buildings bother to have decorative features, and on and on. Whether or not his constant questions are an interesting perspective to them, they are happy to help, or he is downright annoying is, of course, up to each individual.
At some point during their rest in the tavern Mee requests water. He opens a compartment in his chest where a person's heart might normally be to reveal several large, thick glass vials. The warforged proceeds to dump a large glass of water into the cleanest of the vials, another being stained brown and another a deep red like wine. He then turns to Rendell and says "my information suggests that it is unlikely that this tavern serves oil or blood to its patrons." "Is this correct?" "In fact, data I have personally recorded from experience suggests an unfavorable reaction may be obtained if one were to request these from this barkeep. Would you concur?"
Kallaia is walking by, taking a short break to grab an ale when she overhears Mee pondering aloud over suitable drinking material. "Hey Shiny" she says after retrieving the alcohol. "If you're trying to figure out how to act human maybe just observe. Your questions draw more attention than sitting in silence does." Tossing back the dark and heady beverage she rejoins her new musical group for more songs.

A loud laugh escapes Rendell when he hears Kallaia call Meee shiny and tells him to shut up. "You do have a way with words Mee. And no, bars are not known for their wide variety of available oils. However I do assume the kind barkeep knows a seller in town where you'd be able to get some fresh oil to grease your system with......in the morning. For now just listen to Kallaia her advice and enjoy." And with that Rendell gets up, stumbles to his feet, downs another drink and overconfident challenges anyone to a dance battle.

Mee listens to both Kallaia and Rendell and takes their advice. He lowers his head a bit and lifts a drink to his mouth and back without actually imbibing anything in an attempt to act more human. He does say more quietly to Rendell "it is perplexing how humanoids strive so very hard to obtain attention, yet so often advise against doing so." He shrugs and pretends to take another drink.
If you'd like you can stay at the inn for 5 coppers a person. You can regroup and head to Nightstone in the morning, or continue to interact with the patrons here.
"yeah sure let's stay for the night" Rendell reaches in his pocket, grabs some coins and hands them to the barkeep. "Make that one room for me" while he dances off. The alcohol is starting to do his work causing him to sometimes crash into the bar, a wall or other objects. His moves not as smooth as he imagined them to be. "Hey Mee do you have a dance program in that system of yours. I bet these grandpa's here are better dancers than you are" laughing a challenging laugh at Mee.

Mee follows Rendell up to the barkeep. "It would seem logical for me to also exchange five copper coins in exchange for lodging on this premises, as appears to be your custom." He stretches out an empty hand but then five coins come sliding out of a flat slot on the inside of his forearm which he pays the half-elf.
Listening to the warlock's challenge, Mee tilts his head then looks about the room. "I have yet to confirm that any of the males on the premises have offspring with their own offspring in turn, nor have I enough knowledge of such subject's skill in the art of dance as compared to others sharing the local custom. I thus conclude a wager on my part to be most unwise." The warforged continues "regarding your first inquiry, I have no functions specifically designed for this custom, but I have observed the movements of the others present and possess dexterity superior to the average humanoid which might be utilized to mimic the movements of this 'dancing'. "
(DM, if Rendell convinces Mee to dance, do you prefer a CHA-Performance roll (-1 for Mee) or perhaps Acrobatics (+2 for Mee)? Either one will be funny, I'm sure!)
(people I'm enjoying this and any campaign very much and I'm glad we have a DM who wants to host it. When I'm looking for a campaign it's always a struggle to get in and therefore I don't understand why people are posting only now and then. I'm not saying you need to post dayly. Some have more time then others but every other day should be possible. Otherwise there are probably other people who do like to be active in a campaign but didn't have the best backstory to get invited. Let's make it a fun campaign for everyone. Hope to see lots of postings from all of you)

JamesTaylor had to drop out and I've been a bit lax in replying myself. I agree that there could be more posts. One big issue might be people not knowing what is expected of them. I'm assuming you can R.P. however you like with me chiming in as the DM only from time to time. Would it be helpful if the players let me know in a private message if they'd like a ruling, check, or what have you?
(Happy to let the DM know if I'd like to try a check, etc. in the thread as I did in my last post or PM if it starts to clog up the thread. I'm in no rush as life gets busy for parts of most days, but would like to keep it going one way or another. Thus, should we replace the player we lost?)
(OOC; Whichever you think is best. Less charismatic characters to compete with ;))

A very sober Mee watches Rendell with a tilted head. "Are you in a state on inebriation, Rendell? I have documented this before when ale or wine are imbibed, but failed to record the volume of your consumption on this occasion." When Rendell forces his way through his door Mee shrugs and moves to his own room. The warforged sits on his bed and pulls some crude tools including a crowbar, a knife, and some thieves tools out of his extra-dimensional storage space. He makes a mental note that he needs to acquire new tools for several crafts before removing his cloak and humanoid clothing. He then gets to work trying to repair several damaged and dented components on his forearm and torso.

You don't notice anything. The barkeep looks a bit disheartened and heads off to fetch ink and a pen to mark your map.
