Krinix can tell that the puppet is a combination of ventriloquism and animate object, being used in unison. The caster is elsewhere in the store, probably close by, inside the building. It's not a golem or ensorcelled servant, it's not acting independently, but rather being actively controlled like a low-grade avatar.
The puppet makes a dramatic gesture, gesturing around the store. "I have many components! Bits and pieces galore! If I don't have it, I can acquire it! That's the Drannix Oddity guarantee! What, in particular, were you interested in?" the puppet asks, placing its hands in front of itself in a plaintive posture.

The puppet's eyes clack back and forth as if it's reading something. "Just a moment." it says, then the head hangs limp. After a few moments, it sounds like a number of items have fallen on the floor from a room elsewhere in the building, followed by a yelp of surprise. The puppet suddenly springs to life, moving like it's flailing about. If anyone speaks fae, the puppet is making quite the long string of curses. Even those who don't understand the language can hear the speaker's annoyance.

The puppet suddenly goes limp and then retreats as if it's been recalled on an invisible string away from the group. There's the shifting of goods on the floor above and the tinkle tinkle of ceramic pieces being moved about. A sudden burst of light, and the puppet peers around from behind the railing from the second floor. "Did you say a pearl?"

The puppet's head rolls to one side, and then 'looks' back at Qiran. "What do you need a pearl for?" the puppet asks. "I've got ONE, but I was going to save it for something else. I could part with it, if the cause is interesting. Or, I could tell you where I got mine from. Sourced locally, all natural, of course." there's a mischievous tone to the voice.

The puppet looks disappointed. "Oh, is that all... well, if you're looking for pearls, you could try your luck down at the docks. The old pipes that empty out to the sea seem to attract barnacles and other shelled creatures." it says, then its head tilts at a steep angle. "If you're looking to acquire some as simple reagents for boring spells, though, I can make it worth your while to get a few more, if you're able to find them. For reasons I won't go into, it is quite a bother for me to go and get them myself, but I'm sure a fine strapping boy like yourself will have no problem!" The puppet ducks back behind the wall and reappears a few moments later holding an exquisite looking statue of a mermaid. "You have your signal rods, yes?" it says, descending the stairs to approach the group. "I can add an enchantment to them that will allow you to breathe underwater when you tap them together. The enchantment lasts for half a day, but you'll feel it when it's starting to wear off." it says. "What do you say? Quite a handy perk to have, absolutely free of charge if you can bring me back some pearls. I've tried asking other expedition members but they didn't seem to trust me for some reason." the puppet says, spinning its head around in a joke.

Krinix will scrutinize the puppet and try to determine what manner of magic this is

If that fails then he will quietly cast detect magic as a ritual while the others shop.

"I... need the tail of a fish, a tuft of hair from a beast, and a feather from a bird to be sealed inside an glided acorn," Faerieth says.

Krinix will inquire about fine inks and parchments, suitable for working on spells.
Qiran nods, and adds his voice.
"I need similar inks and parchments, as well as a pearl, owl feather, and perhaps incense and herbs for burning."
