Chroma's strike snaps the infected orc closest to her, the second strike caving in its chest cavity. With the heart stopped, the infected orc slumps over, landing on top of the sores. The grubs have to try and burrow out the other end of the body to get free. The remaining infected orc, armed with a makeshift knife, hesitates. Looking back at the others struggling and caught in the roots, the orc lets out a shrill scream as the grubs work their way out of their host. The other entangled orcs folow suit, as the grubs seem to have communally decided to retreat, in a sudden display of intelligence. Then again, their number had already been halved in short order. Perhaps it was simply instinct... but the grubs know enough to climb on the walls and avoid the floor as much as they can to avoid getting caught by the tangling vines.
Is the party going to allow the grubs to escape?

Chroma will not allow the grubs to escape, deftly crushing any that move by wrapping a claw in a rag and striking them, attempting to avoid any contact with the hideous creatures.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(The grubs basically stand no chance against all 4 working together)
The grubs all seemed to be heading up the branch in the tunnel, the one leading away from the city, communally. They didn't even attempt to scatter, and as the group stands at the crossway, they can all smell it, the scent of rusting metal in the water. The lights continue down that way, so it appears that whatever's down there was also once part of the city infrastructure. The tunnel extends further than the party can see and seems to bank upwards at a point, far off. To build this tunnel would have been a massive undertaking, so whatever is at the end of the tunnel, it must have been of great importance to the prosperity of ancient Phlan.
Time has weathered the tunnel as well. Unlike the other parts closer to the city proper, the tunnel leading away has slowly been eaten away by nature. Even dwarven masonry couldn't stand up to the unnatural growth of the Quivvering Forest. Roots have broken through the walls far down the way and some of the roots touch the tainted water. It might even be questionable as to how stable the tunnel is.
All is quiet in the tunnel save for the gentle trickling of water along the trench at the center of the floor. If more infested orcs were coming, they've retreated. The cry that the grubs made when they abandoned their dying hosts was different than the one they made when calling for reinforcements.
How does the party react?

Krinix will not stop shooting fire bolts as long as there's room for him to back up and stay at range against the advancing monsters.

Krinix wants to shoot down as many as he can without going too far on a wild goose chase

Qiran will watch the others tend to their squishy task. If needed he will help out with a few spells of his own.
Another medical problem. Indefinite hiatus. Sorry, all.
Faerieth also will assit in stoping the grubs.
