Northlands Campaign

"I agree" says Barnabus and with out hesitation begins to head down the hall towards the cistern.

You descend about 30' before the stairs become a flat passage again, continuing south another 20' and turning to the right.  The air here takes on a heavy smell of fresh water and traces of moss and mildew decorate the walls.  As you turn the corner, you see a roughly 30'x30' room, the center of which is occupied by open water.  A littering of old bones is scattered around the sides out the room, both in and out of the water.

Cade sniffs around, trying to see if he can smell anything here... perception: 24

And as Kina's first move, she backs RIGHT off. Centaurs are not known for being good swimmers at all, if she gets pulled under, there is almost no chance for her to get away. If it wants to grab her, it'll have to show more of itself!

Rachel pulls her crossbow up, loosing a bolt at the intruder:  Attack: 19 Damage: 10

Kina gets an idea. She gallops around the circumference of the edge of the cistern, whacking her staff on the floor to draw it to attack her. As soon as a tentacle gets near her, she gives it her staff to wrap around... and pulls. If she successfully grapples, she's strong enough to drag 1000 lbs, and she aims to pull the thing right out of the water, some 25 feet or so, where the group will have the advantage.

"Didn't count on having to out-pull a draft, did you?" she grunts out

As Kina successfully drags the octopus out of the pool, Bart and Barnabus will have advantage for their attacks.

Cutting into the creature deeply, it thrashes in pain, trying to make its way back into the pool.

Barnabus circles around to the opposite side and takes a swing.

Writing in pain, the octopus desperately tries to break free, 19.

Kina loses her grip and her hooves scrape along the floor, but ultimately can't compete with suckers, it seems. Also, it was too good to last, back to getting sub-6 rolls. Friggin figures.
