Kina takes a deep, cleansing breath and prepares to enter the ruin again. She tries to take a closer look around the towers, to see if she can spot movement of any sort. These bastards seem the type to simply restock forces rather than withdrawing from an already breached defense.
“I think inside in that same room we stayed in before, unless people want to stay out here in the courtyard. Though based on the spider we ran into last time I believe that room is more advisable.”
As you enter the main doors of the small keep, the first thing you notice is the bodies, or what is left of them. It appears that the rats, and maybe more, have been busy over the past few days. Everything else seems to be as you left it.
The Private spends the uneventful night and heads back with the wagon in the morning.

Cade stretches as he gets up the next morning. Nodding silently to the others he rolls up his bedroll, then repacks his belongings into his pack. Once he has the pack on he waits for the others to get ready.
"We ready to use this tunnel then?" He asks in his soft voice, nodding towards the tunnel's direction.
Wil: It does not appear that there has been any human inhabitants here since your previous trip. The only real changes seem to be predation by the rats.

After everyone has had their breakfast and put away their things Will has a bit of a walk about in he courtyards. He returns to the group and says, "Well, looks like nothing's really changed here since our last visit, at least up here in the moat house. Either the caravan hasn't made it back yet or they might have come in that other way. No time like the present to figure it out.... shall we?"
"Onward!" Agrees Barnabus as he heads for the rat infested stairs. He checks the barrels to see if the previously used tactic will still work for getting by the rodents.
While the bread and cheese is slightly moldier than before, the tactic works as before. Down in the dungeons, everything is just as you left it and you progress through to the barracks and the tunnel onward without issue.
Following along the tunnel as specified on the map, it continues for what seems to be several miles through bedrock, with the dampness of the moors slowly drying as you go. Finally, the tunnel opens into a larger chamber, roughly 30' wide and 50' long. Along the left side are half a dozen hand carts, suitable for a 2-man team to haul supplies along the tunnel you just exited. At the end of the chamber is a large wooden platform and winch. As you get closer you see an opening in the ceiling above the platform.

Mind-to-mind Cade speaks to the others. "Might be an ambush up there, if they know anything about the other end of this tunnel's fate." He nods to the room ahead. "Someone want to sneak forwarda nd have a look?" He will go if no one else wishes to do so, but doesn't think of himself first for this mission.
Kina looks expectantly to the others in the group. "Don't look at me." she says. "I bought tools to assist with rock climbing, but I don't think I can make it up there in a single bound.... certainly not silently." she adds. She's adjusting her running harness and plucks one of Bart's feathers out from her cleavage from the other night when they were camped. She's taken to using Bart as a security blanket to calm her nerves... at least, as far as anyone can tell.
Nothing in the chamber is moving as you progress outward from the tunnel. You make your way over near the platform and look upward. Heavy ropes extend upward from the four corners of the platform into what you now see is a shaft that extends some 50' upward. Additional ropes lead upward from the winch beside the platform. You cannot tell what is at the top of the shaft, but it is definitely not daylight.

"Aye,. Sounds good. Who knows what might have moved in without anybody around. Might be a struggle to get to the bunks."

"Works for me." Cade agrees, heading in that direction.
Following Wil's suggestion Barnabus takes the lead climbing the court yard stairs up to the room.
