Leshanna's bolt of fire hits the figure, but instead of the expected explosive impact the bolt passes through the ghostly form. You notice it flinch a bit at the impact, so you gather that it took some damage but it clearly wasn't quite as much damage as you would expect.

The specter is able to dodge out of the way of the radiant flames, but still appears to not enjoy the sight of them as it rushes forward toward the one who created them. It gets up next to Wulfracer and reaches forward toward his chest.

Neon's projectile hits, but similar to the fire bolt previously it doesn't do as much damage as he expected.
Cororina saw the fire bolt do less damage, so she'll try a Ray of frost instead.

The attacks from Leshanna and Wulfracer both hit, and both partially phase through the specter dealing half damage.
Despite all the reduced damage the specter is looking pretty severely injured, but it will still move forward to Cororina and attempt an attack.

The specter reaches into Cororina's midsection and seems to grasp and drain her pure life essence. Her max HP is reduced by the amount of damage taken, which drops her to 0 HP and immediately kills her.
With no way to revive Cororina, the rest of you feel a drop in the pit of your stomach as you are transported back to the original starting area.

On the wall where you usually see two doors, there are now three. The one on the left shows a blindingly bright image of a sword and a breastplate. The one on the right shows a picture of a sword that isn't glowing at all. The one in the center shows a gold coin with a bright red glow.
You check your belongings and notice that all the items you gained along the previous run have disappeared. However, you are still level 2 and you gain the benefits of a long rest (except all available hit dice come back, not just half).
You enter through the middle door, and come upon a room that you've seen before. It's the familiar 40x40 stone room, and waiting for you inside are the same two worgs and four goblins you defeated previously.
Any of you can take the first turn to start combat.

Wulfracer tells himself that we're really gonna miss that bag full of goats and bears, moves to the left, and readies a Thorn Whip for the Worg on the left.

Wulfracer's attack hits the worg that attacked him, but doesn't manage to deal much damage. The goblins with swords charge forward to join their worgs and attack.
