The fairies give Eric a bunch of dried plant stalks, which Alyna can identity as thousand weed. It's good for making poultices to be applied to stings, cuts, and other wounds.
"I wouldn't mind a good nights sleep myself," Xylys says. "We can try and figure out what to do next, eh? Say, Fei, what do you know of that giant spider thing down thatta way?" He pulls out a bit of hardtack an starts chewing on it meditatively while he awaits an answer.

''Spithrax? Oh, she's a bad neighbor, and would drink our juices if she could catch us, but at least we can steal silk from her. Ha!"
"Well, she's dead. Say, Fei, could you and your friends make a rope from her silk for me?" Xylys seems suddenly quite excited. "Imagine how strong such a rope would be, and light!"

Fei says, "Yes! Most excellent stuff. You'd get good service from such a rope. We make cords for snares and game-hoists that--"
He hops up into the air , wings buzzing.
"And that minds me of the hunt you interrupted! Tally ho!"
In a flash, all the fairies have flown from the clearing, wheeling northeast.
"Do you think it is good that we did not tell them we killed the spider?" Chaotic nature of little fairies would make reaction to the news quite unpredictable. "They are sweet, when not throwing their needles, but better go before they return."
"Agreed" he concurs with Alyna. "They said we can camp in the glade with the creek. We passed it earlier, but the path to the west should lead us there quicker than backtracking. Should make our way soon as I don't know what the night will hold for us if we are mid forest." He pockets his new bunch of herbs and walks to the trail head. "Are we ready?"
The party marches west for an hour or so before coming into the big clearing. You can all see the stream glinting in the late afternoon light, halfway across the meadow. This looks to be the same very large clearing, maybe a mile wide, that you passed through earlier today.
(If you mean to set up a campsite, Eric's player should give me a survival roll, please. At advantage if the others intend to help make a camp.
Or will you explore more first? Do something else?
You have maybe two hours of daylight left, or rather less.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"If someone would give me a hand, I can have a camp set for the night. Won't be as nice as you're probably used to Shayne, but it should keep us dry and warm"
Survival 16
He begins to scrounge the materials needed to make camp and feed everyone. Berries and root vegetables mainly. Small game if he has chance. As usual he only takes enough as is needed.
"Nice? Obviously you don't shut down a lot of pubs and taverns. Those can be long nights and you often find yourself waking up in the most undesirable of places!" Shayne responds, but aids in setting up the camp. He may not know what he is doing but he can follow directions well...
Alyna helped as well -- searching for dry branches for the fire, cooking, if we had something that could be cooked, or simply making a herbal tea if she could find suitable leaves or last year berries, unnoticed by animals.
Eric soon finds a likely spot not far from the stream, a low mound with a flattened top, ringed by pines. The party collects tinder and fuel sufficient for a campfire tonight. Eric shoots a brace of pheasants. Alyna and the hunter together gather wild leeks, dandelions, and other edible spring plants.
By nightfall, you've all settled into camp to have supper: some hard bread and cheese from your food bags along a water-skin full of stream-cooled dandelion tea, and a salad of wild greens. Roast pheasant on the spit, too.
...
Bedrolls and blankets make for comfortable sleeping on the soft grass. Xylys hadn't brought proper bedding of his own, but bundled in a spare cloak and sleeping closest to the fire(who better to tend it than the smith's apprentice) he keeps tolerably warm. The night passes quietly, without incident except for the occasional howling of wolves in the forest during the first watch and a wet, gusting north wind at about midnight that breaks on the pines growing about your campsite and no more than damps your cloaks or blankets. Nobody on watch duty spots anything more threatening than deer grazing in the meadow.
(All may take a long rest.)
....
As the sun rises, your party makes ready for another day in the Darkling Wood.
Shayne tosses and turns a bit as the morning light insists on making its way past his eyelids. He always did resist waking up, dreams were so much more entertaining than reality, by far. Still, nature did call and after a minute or three of resisting, Shayne crawled out of his bedroll. With a "M'rnin" murmured to any who were already awake, Shayne shambled off into the trees a short bit to find a little relief...
Returning to their camp site, as it is, Shayne took a swig out of his Waterskin and scratched around to see if there was anything remaining from the meal last night. Otherwise he broke into his rations to find some jerky to chew on as he completed the process of waking up. He glowered at any "morning people" for a good ten or fifteen minutes before he was actually ready to join polite society.
"Where to next?" he eventually asks Eric with a vague wave of his hand to indicate the forest.
"Continue west?" Alyna was totally a "morning person" (if not completely voluntarily, as much as she would rather stay in dreamland, a farmer (or any villager to be fair) can not afford to miss the sunrise). The cold meat from yesterday was warmed up, and fresh tea if did not wake anyone up, at least made the morning more pleasant. "This is the only direction we are know about."
Trails leave the meadowlands north, south, east, and west. The party has already walked the trail south to Spithrax's lair and some distance past that. The trail that enters the meadow on the eastern side is the one the party hiked from the fairy glade to get here.
North, the trail might connect with one the party partially explored earlier, from another clearing. But then again, it very well might not.
West, who knows?
(As usual, this is up to you guys. Do whatever you think best.
I will update the map again when we have had some substantial new exploration, but know that the fairy glade connects with the big meadow-stream area by that east-west trail. The question mark between trail segments will be gone in the next update, replaced by a connecting segment.)
Eric rises before the sun. This was normal. The golden hour for game hunting was just before dawn when the animals where still waking. He takes the opportunity to gather his thoughts.
So it seems the Miller may have been unknowingly caught by the lure of the Fairy Queens magic's. That could prove to be problematic. He continues his hunt and returns to the camp with rabbit in hand. He begins to cook just as Alyna rises. "Sorry, did I wake you?"he asks. "This will only be a moment. There is brew on the edge of the fire."He finishes the rabbit and hands some to the young lady. Being not one for many words, he sits there quietly eating. Watching. When Shayne wakes he points to the freshly cooked rabbit and the tea.

"Uh.... huh. Yeah. So that happened...."
"Say... You think those things are the elves of stories?? I always envisioned them... With pointier ears?" Shayne shrugs.
"Agreed" he concurs with Alyna. "They said we can camp in the glade with the creek. We passed it earlier, but the path to the west should lead us there quicker than backtracking. Shayne follows, whistling a faery inspired tune and trying to think up some appropriate lyrics for it.
