The Six Kingdoms of Talia

Fenro hears the sounds of the scuffle from inside the building. “I’ve waited long enough.” Fenro rushes toward the closest door and heads inside, trying to track down the source of the noise. As he does so he reaches into his pouch and grabs out the burnt carving of the Raven. In his other hand he holds his quarterstaff. Quietly he chants causing the quarterstaff to twist and writhe. It appears to turn inside out and a golden hue glows from the cracks of the wood (Shillelagh). If he can see the fight going on he will swing the quarterstaff, looking to knock the man out.

Aramae cautiously approaches the entryway where the front door used to be.

He casts Message to Edgar.

'Are things under control now? Fenro is also on his way.'

"Yes, he's been dealt with. Ferno just arrived." Edgar respond gruntlingly 

Fenro runs in and quickly assesses the situation. He then slams the man upside the head with a heavy crack. His scalp splits and a trickle of blood runs from his temple. The man looks quite concussed from the hit and Edgar can feel the fight go out from him a bit.

Oryxis is up, then Lyrika. 

With the man under him and a dagger to his throat Edgar ask “So who is the man upstairs?”  

Seeing that his situation is hopeless as he's now surrounded the man drops his dagger. In response Edgar's question he reaches into his pocket. Faster than Edgar can react he pulls two vials and pops the stoppers. All he says is, "For the king," before downing both vials. He starts to thrash and foam at the mouth as Edgar holds him tight before finally falling still. Fenro, studied in the ways of life, can see that no magic outside of that which can restore the dead will ever allow the man to breath again.

Aramae had made his way into the house after things had gone quiet. He stopped just inside.

"Hello? Is everything well? Have you apprehended the man?"

If the man is concussed, may Edgar try to stop the man before downing the vials? He is on top of him and has him grappled.

if not then he will just roll off the dead man and take a deep breath and mutter “our luck be damned.. he’s as dead as I feel.” 

(I'll say you can use your reaction, yes.)

(He still beats you though, so you try ans grab his hand but miss as he's able to shift when you release a bit.)

“For the king. I am sure that is what he said. At least we have something more than we did at the start of the day.” Fenro tried to find a positive in everything that was going on. As he said this he tried to figure which king he might be speaking of. (History 10)

Not receiving an immediate answer, his concern growing, Aramae quickly follows the sounds of the voices upstairs.

He looks at the dead man held by Edgar and sighs.

"That is unfortunate, but he made his choice. Let us take care of the remains and collect Alan. There is much to do and much to discuss. But if anyone feels they need a few moments to collect themselves, by all means take them."

Fenro you've been around a bit and your people are good at keeping histories. The last King that you know of is King Haakon, a human who ruled as the High King of the Kingdoms of Talia about 40 years ago. Since then there was a tiefling High Queen, Queen Alitania, and Queen Meer, the half-orc who was just assassinated. Judging by the humans age he likely wasn't alive when King Haakon was the ruler.

"I don't know who this king is he speaks of. We haven't had one for a while. Maybe he refers to a man who intends to be king. Is it just me, or do things keep pointing back to your count?" Fenro stepped back from the man who now lay dead on the ground. "I know that things are a little hectic, but we will need to move quickly if we are still going to make the meeting on the bridge," he glances quickly at Edgar, "that is if we are still going."

"Hey, you look a bit messed up, Edgar," Lyrika says, casting Healing Word on the tabaxi for 6.  "Too late to use it on that guy, I guess."

"Yes, again, much to do. We cannot just leave a corpse in a person's home, not to mention the door. Edgar, the meeting at the bridge was your plan. What do you think we should do? I could go back for Alan alone if need be. I have to bring him to the keep at some point as I was instructed to."

“Thank you Lyrika, im much better now.” He stands up to meet Aras question. “I don’t know. Maybe you can take him back to the in? I will need Oryxis with me for the meeting and maybe one more, but not more then that or the source might get scared. What are your thoughts? And we hace to get going soon if we want to make it.” 

What is the timeframe until Edgar believe the meeting is going to take place? 

You still have a couple of hours. It's currently mid afternoon and the sun would set at about 7 pm this time of year.

"Since we seem to have a couple hours, understandably forgettable in the heat of the moment, I could bring Alan alone if noone wishes to accompany me. I do have business unrelated to Alan after presenting him. And I do agree with Edgar regarding too many of us being present, at least to the other individual's knowledge. I, and if anyone comes with me, could bring Alan to the keep now and should surely have enough time to rejoin you all and inform of the business at hand afterwards."

Oryxis is busy dusting himself off. “I for one want to figure out what was going on in here before we broke the door down. There’s somebody chained up back there, but I haven’t been able to figure out anything more yet. I want to find out who they are and why they are chained up. The assassin returned here, even though he knew he was being tailed. Stands to reason the prisoner might provide some answers. Edgar, you’re welcome to stay, so we can head to your meet afterwards. Ara, are you okay taking Alan? And what are the rest of you planning to do? Where shall we meet up afterwards?”

"I can take care of Alan. I do not think I will have any issue with him. If you need me, you can likely find me either at the keep or making my way to the third bridge."

Aramae leaves the group and returns to the church to look for Alan.

If he finds him he will approach with a calm demeanor and voice.

"It's time I brought you to the keep, Alan. Rest assured I will make sure it is known that you had aided us."
