"Reiner and the priest lady are distractors, but she's back already...S-sammie was supposed to get some medicine but he hasn't come back yet either." At this point, a second face appears in the window, that of a middle-aged man. The young girl points at you, and you see him squint. He retreats from the window, but the girl remains...
Velyra:You hear the heavy limping gait of Paten coming down the stairs as you stand over the afflicted woman, bracing for when her next seizure might come. The aging councilman grunts as he hits the bottom of the stairs, walking over to you. "There are others in the town now. And a magic user at that, talking to little Lyra upstairs. Maybe we're finally getting the reinforcements I've been begging for."
Usul nods to himself and says “We’ll find Sammie.”
He then slowly starts to head back to the apothecary. One his way back, as close to the Inn as possible, he’ll pop into any building that is empty and take a minute to tie small knots in his rope every foot or so, to make it easier to climb. He then also tells Muad “Stay here buddy. Dib and I can move more easily this way. We’ll be back soon!” Directing the dog to stay quiet and as far away from the door as possible. Once he gets back to where he can see the apothecary, with Dib on his head keeping his ears and nose out, he’ll start to scout buildings nearby that are close enough where he might be able to either hop from one roof to another, or connect a rope between them.
Stopping just before the plaza, Usul is able to find a place of respite in what was once a storehouse for wagon equipment. After tying his rope, his mastiff companion retreats to a small alcove in the corner, crawling under some old equipment to hide.
In the plaza itself, the buildings are packed close to one another, with shingled roofs. The building west of the apothecary is a full story higher, while the one on the opposite side is more or less the same height. A few more undead have ambled into the area while you were gone, though not as many seemed to be focused on the building in question anymore(around half a dozen are still actively trying to get inside, the rest are spread throughout this plaza.)
If your plan is to climb, let me know which direction you wish to approach from, and have an athletics check ready.
Turning away from her patient to face the approaching councilman, Velyra wears a skeptical look upon her face. "A magic user you say?" The elvish woman casts a parting glance to the woman under her care and then makes to move past Paten. "I'll go talk to Lyra. If there are others in the town, we may be able to do enough damage to the horde for the rest of you to escape."She jogs up the stairs to the second floor, moving into the southern room the little girl was keeping watch from. Glancing out the window to search for this supposed magic user before addressing the girl."Councilman Elway said you were speaking with someone Lyra?"
Usul quietly heads to the taller of the buildings. If there is an easy way for him to slip inside of it, he'll do so and head to the upper floor before climbing out a window to get onto the roof. If not he'll try to climb to the roof with his rope. To climb, he'll send his mage hand up with the rope to tie it off, and then climb up the rope along the side of the building
The litany of undead in the plaza make it nigh impossible for Usul to simply cross directly to the building and climb it. Instead picking a building on south side of the road, and deftly climbing with his mage hand/rope combination. Move quietly across the rooftops(utilizing his climbing combo when required). Upon reaching the second story building directly west of the apothecary, you notice slow lumbering movement inside as you climb past the second floor windows. Crossing the roof and dropping down with the roof, you now find yourself atop the apothecary building.
Lyra looks up over her should as Velyra appears in the room. "It was a little man. He left though, said he was going to find Sammie..."
Quietly sitting down on the roof, he grabs Dib from his shoulder and says "go see what you can find". Usul then snaps his fingers, and Dib disappears from his hand, appearing a few feet directly below him inside the apothecary. Looking through his vision, but mostly listening and smelling through Dib's ears and nose, he tries to find the boy in the shop ((15)). ((assuming success)) Finding the boy, Usul has Dib scamper cutely around in front of the boy before stopping to look up at him, and then sends a message to him from above saying "We're here to help. Your sister sent us to find you. Are you hurt?"
is the roof here just like a flat roof? Is there an attic entrance or anything into the shop? What else can Usul see inside the shop? ---- yes, I kinda want it to appear to the kid that Dib is speaking to him telepathically :P
The roof is gabled, so Usul would be sort of straddling the very top to keep from falling most likely. No attic entrance into the shop. Here's quickly slapped together map to give you a rough idea of the scene.
On the roof, Usul is able to get a view of mostly everything in the immediate area. To the south is the town's outer perimeter. A few of the undead are prowling out there, and there's bushes, shrubs, and trees growing freely. About a hundred feet out is the unfinished barricade circling the town, though over here it's even more incomplete. The plaza itself is almost completely filled with zombies at this point. He can hear five or six of them scratching at the doors and walls underneath the overhanging roof beneath him. More than a dozen others amble aimlessly across the square. Some of the buildings he notices have broken down doors or glass in front of them. The sun has lowered in the sky at this point, casting the scene in a soft orange light.
Dib pops into existence inside the darkened apothecary, hitting the floor with a soft plop. Very little light is able to make it inside, as the windows have all been boarded up. Standing on hind legs to look around, Dib is able to see that a shelf has been pushed over in front of the door. The rest of the little shop is lined with different salves, unidentifiable liquids, dried herbs, and the like. There is an overwhelming stench of death in the small building. Scurrying around, the weasel would eventually run over the corpse of one of the undead, a handaxe embedded in its skull. Following a blood trail from there, the weasel finds a young boy, perhaps 17 or 18 years of age with shaggy dirty blonde hair. The boy is unmoving, and has a rough, completely bloodied bandage around his upper thigh. A pool of blood has formed around his leg. As you attempt to speak into his mind with message, there is no response.
Velyra pinches the bridge of her nose, letting out a soft sigh. "Let me know if you see him or any others come back. I'll be downstairs."She retreats back down to the first floor, finding Paten once more and moving to speak with him. "This might be the lucky break we've been waiting for Councilman, if our mystery savior is able to make it back to us."With a look of uncertainty, she then adds. "Night is coming soon, and Reiner is still missing too. If he isn't back by nightfall..."
Dib scurries up to the boy, placing his weasel face up to the mouth. The familiar waits there, and doesn't feel any breath.
From what Usul saw in the plaza, the only other entrance into the apothecary was the door. This is reinforced by what Dib has seen from the inside, as the windows are boarded up, and no other doors.
"My boy is smart, he'll know to hole up somewhere before nightfall. I'm more worried about Nina making it through the night. She needs that medicine." The aging Councilman takes a seat at the foot of the stairs, massaging his knee as he speaks to Velyra. "We've asked so much of you already, and I'm grateful. But the horde hasn't started to gather outside the inn just yet again, so it looks clear...I don't know about these other people in the town, but I know I can trust you. Can you go and find Sammie - and if he's...fallen...Get what Nina needs?"

As Silthras and Kal wait from their positions on the outskirts of the town, the sun has fallen lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the ground. While waiting for your companion to return, you are suddenly struck with an odd feeling. The hairs on the back of your neck stand up, and you feel as though you're being watched...
As the odd sensation washes over Kal, he'll glance over at his half-elven companion. "I don't like this feeling. We're exposed out here." His eyes will flash a soft blue momentarily as he uses his Divine Sense to search for undead that may be close by.
Silthras mutters to himself, "Never trust a gnome with a weasel" he says, shaking his head. "He had a simple task: distract the undead and draw them off. Now they've probably found us while he is likely looting the homes of the dead villagers."
Usul sighs, and not seeing any easy way to get in and check on the boy himself, decides his best course of action is to try to get back to the Inn. He pops Dib back to him, and again using the his mage hand to move his rope around to get to a safe place on the ground, then quietly tries to get back, using his illusion magic if it would be helpful.

Velyra gives a sharp nod in response. "Of course I will. Have someone waiting in the second floor room on the south wall, but unseen. If it's too late, I may not be able to get back inside without attracting too much attention, but I can make sure the medicine makes it in."
After grabbing her shield, the elvish cleric makes her way up the stairs a second time, giving the girl Lyra a warm smile. "I'll be back in a flash. Make sure Paten doesn't go mad with worry, and pull the rope up after me." With that, she'll look outside to see if the coast is clear, and if it is, toss the rope their group had been using to get in and out of the inn through the window, and climb down.
Replying to the voice Usul says “Where did they go? Maybe we can find them...”
