Usul's bolt pierces through the magical shield around the creature, driving into one of the empty eye sockets. The stone around its eye cracks, and you see more blood begin to leak out - but it doesn't fall yet.

Not wanting to be left fending for herself on this side, Sylnora runs towards the creature and misty steps through, backing up against the south wall behind Velyra while throwing a Fire Bolt at the stone monster.
((Hi friend! So this is a game in progress, and we don't have any slots open at the moment. You'll want to look for the Yellow "Recruiting" tag in the forum to find a game to join. You can actually filter by that like so. Good luck and happy games!))
Risking an attack from the stone monster, Velyra moves back around Loghain to get to Kal, placing a hand on his back and channeling divine energy into a healing spell.
The cultist Silthras had attacked curses as he feels the magic slipping from his grasp, as the rest of the group would see the shimmering shield around the stone sentinel disappear. Sylnora's fire bolt still goes wide. Loghain's first strike glances off a stone arm, but the second finds purchase, chunking off a piece from the leg.
The man infront of Silthras tries to make a mad dash - rather than trying to defend himself against further attacks - up the stairs, which Silthras would see go up for about 40 feet before there is a landing and a corner((and presumably another flight of stairs around the corner)).
((Once again, an opportunity attack.))

The rapier pierces through the man's calf as he attempts to run - making him stumble - but he just barely continues, dragging his limping leg up the stairs to the next flight, and around the corner.
((They are not visible, but I gave a wrong distance initially. It is 20 feet to the next flight, so Silthras would be able to make it up if he wants to follow. I'm working on getting this next level posted, but the software is fighting me to convert to a PNG lol.))
Silthras curses, and pursues the man to get within the range of his magic again. He shakes his head and sheathes his sword. So be it.
Coruscating energies weave around his hand as the faint sound of otherworldly phrases echo in the darkness, then two bolts of energy leap at the cultist.
Attack 1: 14 Damage: 10
Attack 2: 9 Damage: 7
(( I'm assuming the cultist fled 30' so Silthras could get to 10' and target him ))
((He fled 60' feet with dash. But was still unable to make it up to the next flight. :) ))
The first bolt of energy zips up the stairs, striking the cultist just as he was about to reach the top flight. He falls over forwards - still breathing, but not moving. Silthras watches around the corner - but no one else seems to be coming.
With chunks missing from nearly every pieces of its body now, you can see the stone creature seems to be on its last leg. Though it has no mouth, its head shakes and you hear a high pitched keen as it swipes downwards twice at Kal once more.
@DM: I did add, depending on what he saw he might do something different...would it be OK for Silthras to move forward when the man slumps to the ground, assuming he sees/hears nothing (passive 18!).

((Sure!))
Instead of backwards, Silthras moves forward, managing to get around the corner and up the steps a bit. Keen though his senses may be, he still doesn't hear anything but the sounds of the battle below him.
Usul fires off a bolt, and a large chunk of the top of the creature's dome is blasted off as it impacts. A weak fountain of blood spurts out the top, but the creature still wobbily stands.
"It's almost down,"Kal says through gritted teeth, beginning to feel his arms go numb from warding off the huge creature's attacks. Still, he keeps to his strategy, ready to block the next set of blows to come his way.

Silthras angrily responds to the man fleeing, attacking with his rapier and trying not to kill him. He would like one alive if possible.

With his remaining movement, he will back up around the corner, taking cover and watching up the stairs.
(( Though that might change depending on what he sees up the next flight ))

Between his own bladework, deflecting the claws with the flat of his sword, and Velyra's shield around him now, neither of the attacks manage to land.
