Elixyr looks over the paper, reading the pronunciation and mouthing it a few times to herself. She looks up from the sheet at the rest of you, and gives a shrug. "I can manage this."
"If there's nothing else I need to know beforehand...Well good luck on your continuing endeavors." Quickly, she copies down the required command word pronunciations on her own piece of parchment, returning the original to Silthras. "For all our sakes, I hope you find success in whatever it is you're trying to do now. And of course, I'll contact you once the orb is safe in my possession."
"The undead have cleared the area mostly, you may run into a few stragglers, so be on guard."Kal says to the arcanist. "We're grateful for your help. And for the explosives."
"I think we've squared everything here then. Hopefully we hear from you soon."If his companions are ready to go, he leaves the small shop, waving to Elixyr as they go out the door. Once outside, he looks to them and says "so, Sybil next? I believe someone she knew said they could get us before the Baroness."
Ulf nods, "I think so, yes." He seems a bit distracted, then turns to Velyra. "Does this new spell mean you can ask advice from the archeological site? Or at least tell them what we found?"
"The spell is a little limited, but I can inform them yes." Velyra closes her eyes for a moment, casting Sending to Aldun, the halfing man she worked under at the Astrium.
"I couldn't find the others. Likely dead. Safe now. Massive archaeological find underneath Feycrest mines. Changes everything we know. Moving on, but send another team."
With that done, she looks to the half-elf. "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it Syl."
Silthras nods, "That is good to know." he turns to Kal, "Yes, I believe the Baroness is next...will you be able to ... do what you do? Or do you need to rest first?" he asks then begins straightening and cleaning his clothes, polishing his breastplate and his boots, then looks around at the others, "Always pays to look ones best when visiting nobility."
He offers his kerchief to any who he thinks look untidy.
The normally energetic Aldun comes across as sullen in the return message to Velyra. 'We all feared as much. Leave whatever information you can with someone you trust, the next group will find them. Will be some time though.'
As her home is on the near opposite end of Silverfair, it takes some time to get to Sybil's. You still arrive with several hours left in the day, quickly filling her in on what you've learned(selective if you wish) since the last time you met, and your plans going forward. Now inside her home once more, she lets out a long sigh, raising her brow. "Gods. When I sent for your help I didn't know it would turn out like this..." Shaking her head, she moves on. "Bertrand had mentioned he could likely get you a meeting with the Baronness. I'll get a message to him quickly as I can to let him know you're...Prepared. Tomorrow is probably the earliest anything happens."
Settling into one of the chairs in her den she closes her eyes, rubbing her eyelids for a moment. "You'll be pleased to know at least that the refugees from Feycrest are being settled in quite well. We took enough losses on our own that we have plenty of space for them."
Sybil shakes her head, "the other towns are much further out than Feycrest. We've sent runners, but it'll be days before we hear back. Given the amount of dead in Feycrest alone...Well we're not exactly hopeful."
"I can put you all up at the Topaz Hammer for the night if you wish. Or you're welcome to look around and find something else for yourself if you're interested."
Silthras listens to Sybil, pauses for a moment, considering his words, "Elixyr is going to the ruins. When she gets there she could open portals to those towns temporarily. That might make your task easier -- if some trusted guards went with her. It might even be possible to bring people back through, like we did with the people of Feycrest."
When she suggests the Topaz Hammer he nods, "So long as you have not drunk all the Dwarven Whiskey, then a wash, a rest, a meal, and some warmth would all be very welcome."
"We've already sent out all we could spare unfortunately. And from what you've told me, I'm not too keen on opening those portals up for even the briefest of moments." Sybil says. "Well. I'll get a message to Bertrand that you're ready. I can meet you at the Hammer in the morning, hopefully with good news."
"Try not to get too drunk, you'd hate to meet this woman with a hangover."
With that, she lets you all take your leave, tossing a small coin pouch and a message to the innkeeper to have the rooms taken care of. You make your way to the Topaz Hammer, and find it more lively than ever as townspeople celebrate the end of an extremely difficult few months.
Anything you want to do tonight let me know and then we'll move on!
Velyra casts a glance to others as they receive their rooms. "As much as I would enjoy drinking my bodyweight in wine, I think I'll be passing on any revelries tonight."
"Whoever has the 13th's book, would you mind handing it over for the night? With any luck, I'll be able to figure out more about our situation. And maybe about what to do with you." She says, gesturing to Kal at the end.
(Granted she's given that book, she'll just head up to her room for the evening and ready until it's time to trance for 4 hours.)
Usul is happy to just get some rest after having his package dispatched. He isn't much of a drinker, though with enough peer pressure could be pushed to have a couple more than he should. And as he's still quite young, he's rather inexperienced with drink.
"Try not to get too drunk, you'd hate to meet this woman with a hangover."
Silthras feigns indigation, "Drunk while in pursuit of my sworn duties is a whipping offence. But an appropriate celebratory drink for our small victory will likely aid my studies of these turgid books. Religious tracts are tiresome at the best of times, but these...they are made worse by the impossible language. Alcohol is a requirement for such a task."
As they walk away, Silthras turns to Velyra when she asks about the 13th book, "I was planning to read that tonight myself, but perhaps while I refresh myself you could make a start, and I will assist later, before I sleep. I also have the first book...I thought it might have more revealing details that were mundane to the later incarnations, and thus not mentioned. They might help poor Kal."
When they get to the inn he finds the two books in his backpack and hands them to Velyra, then enquires at the bar about the availability and price of a bottle (or a glass) of Dwarven Whiskey as well as the availability of bathing facilities. He does his best to get clean (including his clothes), then has a drink and a meal and joins Velyra in her studies for a few hours before he needs to sleep.
(( Note that while he can get clean purely with spells, I assume an actual bath is more relaxing; for clothes he would just clean them magically ))
(( Happy to move on, and happy to keep reading/studying with Velyra in following nights/downtime when possible ))
After cleaning up Silthras will happily eat with Usul, and offer him a whiskey if he wants to try it. He but will not be drinking heavily because he has work to do. If Usul wants to help with the books, he is also welcome to do so. If Usul does eat dinner with Silthras, then Silthras would happily exchange some of his story with the gnome...
"Appreciate that,"Kal mumbles, rubbing the back of his head. "I might as well try and learn a thing or two. Where's the last one's book? Feels like I should be learning from him anyway."
"I think I'm just going to uh...Hang out in my room a bit, I'll see you all in the morning?"Sylnora says, itching to get a peek into the spell book they handed over. If she has time tonight, she'll copy Alter Self into her own spell book using the inks they also gave her earlier.

Usul is happy to hang out for a bit with Silthras, and takes a big sip of whisky trying to be cool, and nearly coughs it up after, laughing a bit as he does so. Over dinner he's happy to chat, and feels a bit at ease tonight with his friend, as they've been through a bit in this short time, as well as enjoying the general mood of the townsfolk who are all happy to not be worried about zombie attacks.
Once Siltrhas goes up to read the books and relax for the evening, Usul will follow, but instead of helping with the books will plop himself on the floor and pull out the box to give it some work. ((investigation 24))
