Barthrum grabs hold of the gnome and yells at her, but she doesn't seem to care. Suddenly, a cyan cpectral hand appears on the floor and grabs the fallen tools. Then, it continues the work the gnome was doing.
Thenmer peers round the corner of this and is getting very fed up with it
"Enough of this nonsense"
He pulls out his crystal and looks up at the wooden weapons, letting the natural fire within the crystal take shape he hurls it at the wooden contraption to try to set it alight.
The firebolt hits one of the metal bolts and fails to set anything alight. This seems to capture the gnome's attention though. "Hey!" She shouts, although her high-pitched voice is dimmed by the waterfall. "This isn't funny! I've worked a lot on this! I told y'all I won't shoot you anymore so begone with ye, 'kay?" It takes her quite a long while to say all this though, as she often stops to watch the spectral hand carefully doing some fine work.
Barthrum turns her towards himself and lifts her up some, looking her in the face. "Are you either Fibblestib or what was the other one?" he looks down towards Thenmer. "Or Dabbledob? Or can you tells us where to find them? We have a dragon problem and came here for help. Not to be shot at..." and he places her down.
"Consider that a warning shot. If you shoot your crossbows at visitors the least you can expect is to have your crossbows burned. We came here in friendship, not to be shot at."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Happy that they managed to solve the encounter without unnecessary bloodshed, Dolgrim leaves his cover. Do you greet everyone here with a bolt in the face? That won't make you many friends. Are you alright Barthrum? Let me try to use these new balms I've created. I promise I did not use the bird poop like the forest witch.
((If Barthrum wants I heal him with Cure wounds7))
Facktoré keeps managing the cyan hand to work for her and occasinally drops a word or two. Eventually, the sentence that is formed should sound like this: "I told you. You came just as I finished making this thing operational, I wanted to see how well it'll do. Your timing was unfortunate." It takes her almost a minute to say all that, with all her stops to manage the hand.
(I could be wrong but I think no one got hit so there shouldn't be any reason to heal. All of you have good AC, after all...)
The corridor bends to the right (west) until it reaches another intersection. In front of you are a set of stairs that lead down to what looks like an open space. Probably one of the ledges you saw when you entered the cave. Turning left right before the stairs will lead you 15 feet south and then a turn to the east. Either way, the roaring sound of the waterfall only increases in intensity, so you're probably getting closer. The air is quite humid and the walls and floor are slightly wet. As Barthrum looks at the wet walls, he suddenly notices something strange about the way light is reflected from them. It seems like there's more light than the small lamps positioned across the halls give off. He looks around him and sees that tiny, insubstantial motes of light circle around him, shedding bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. They don't appear to do anything but if he moves away they "follow" with him.
After the encounter with the crossbow contraption, Dolgrim has his shield prepared and carefully follows the others, prepared for any other surprises. Never seen anything like this, but who knows what is "normal" among the gnomes?.
Thenmer can't say much about the lights, other than that they shed light and follow around Barthrum. This may seem like a foolish deduction but if it is magic, it's not the kind Thenmer is familiar with.
Dolgrim seems confused and even a bit annoyed by the things he has seen in the town so far. This is a no place for a dwarf. The magic and the gadgets these folks use are too strange for me. We should find this Double Thumb and the other Gnome fast.
Thenmer is quietly fascinated by all the inventiveness and weirdness. He looks around, not understanding any of it but wanting to. Seeking a way to fit all of this into his worldview so that it makes sense.
He looks closely at everything he sees, trying to understand it all. Make sense of it all.
"Uh, yes Dolgrim. I suppose we should try to find them as soon as we can"
You're standing at a T intersection. You came from the east (the right "hand" of the T), from the room where you were shot at with crossbows. In front of you, continuing to the left "hand" of the T is a set of stairs leading down. Cool air comes through it and you can see that at the end of the stairs is an open space - not dug into the stone like the rest of the tunnels. To your left, the south, the way leads 15 feet before turning left again, to the east.
No one else is around, but there are these strange lights around Barthrum. Inspecting them didn't yield any results for any of you, but they don't seem to be doing much either. For now, Barthrum's Shield of Faith is still up.

The gnome taps her chest with one of her hands. "Facktoré," she says. Then, she points towards the passageway across the room. "Dabbledob."

Barthrum heads the way the woman pointed, shuffling backwards and keeping his shield up.
Thenmer goes with Barthrum, keeping a wary eye on the maniac with the crossbows as he goes.

He says, "Is this normal?"
And tries to head in a direction of less noise if possible.

Thenmer looks closely at the lights
"Not normal, unless magic is normal, or at least I think not"
(If its relevant Arcana check on the lights 19 )

He says distractedly.
Anyone remembers the way we were supposed to go? These tunnels are not something I can navigate in.
Thenmer looks doubtful
"They just said South I think. No much more that I can remember"
I'll summarize where you are, in case you forgot.
