You all arrive at the library and to those of you who have not been here before, it is a giant tree that goes above the clouds and its diameter extends a few blocks. It is stunning and at the front of the building are big glass doors underneath the words "Wild Library". You head in behind Archimedes and each feel a chill run down your spine. Not because of anything specific it's just a reaction your body is having in this situation. Archimedes looks towards the front desk and sees the owner of the library there waving at him without a care in the world. The owner is a huge slug woman with bobbed hair and heavy make up on. She hails Archimedes in a heavy New Jersey accent "Schmuckums!! Well dontchu look much better! And oh my gawd who are these young travelers you got there honey bunch?". Archimedes tries to hide his embarrassment a little "My love whoot, we are in a hurry. Do you know if Pan went to the restricted section whoot?" the slug acts a bit more serious and answers Archimedes "Yes darlin. I also just sent a young gurl down there that seemed like she could be royalty... weird. I heard some noises not long ago hope she okay. Good luck darlin I will be here and will close down the library for the time being so you can get the privacy ya need sweetie." As Archimedes takes you to the Restricted section please give me investigation and or perception checks.
Elsa:
You see 2 books attacking the thing (or person) on the ground and now 2 books are coming towards you flapping their pages open and closed. At the edge of the darkness, beyond your vision, you could swear you saw a silhouette of a person as well.

Cheshire - Perception 5
Cheshire fails to notice anything as he begins to gag and cough loudly. After a moment he spits up a wet clump of fur in a corner then continues on as if nothing happened.
Elsa raises a hand, an ice shard forming in it, then tosses it at one of the books closing in on her. The bolt explodes as it hits, hitting both books with a blast of frigid air...
You create a shard of ice and fling it at one creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 piercing damage. Hit or miss, the shard then explodes. The target and each creature within 5 feet of it must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d6 cold damage.

Elsa:
You miss the spell but both books will have to make that saving throw or be blasted with ice. Save 1: 13 Save 2: 13
They both get severely hurt by this and a couple pages fall stiffly on the ground from the sever cold from your magic. The first book is going to attack you.
Attack: 17 Damage: 4
It flies and smacks you hard on the face flapping it's "wings" to stay in the air.
Group:
You guys head forward into the library and as you go deeper a fog grows that is cold to the skin and the shelves seem to corner you in every direction. Even for those of you with the lowest investigation you can tell that doing this path alone would be nigh impossible, especially since the shelves to be moving and changing position as you go. Luckily for the group the shelves seem to give way as Archimedes flies effortlessly. You go deeper and the fog gets thicker and colder. You come to a velvet rope and behind it is pitch black, there a sign that says "Restricted Area: enter if you dare". Archimedes says "This is were we part whoot... I don't enter this section after what happened last time. Just go straight and you will come to a section were you cannot go forward anymore. There you must turn left whoot. That's where 'That'" he pauses"... book. Pan was looking for it so that's where he should be. Good luck adventurers... I'm sorry to have to count on you whoot."
How are you guys approaching? Who is leading? and do you say anything else to Archimedes?
(How y’all are the book shelves in the restricted section? If I can see the top from the floor I’ll climb up and keep pace with the group from above.)
Cheshire steps closer to Archimedes “Will you wait for us here? It seemed like it might be difficult to find our way back out of here.” Pitching his voice a bit lower he adds “And I would love to speak to you of the marks on your wing some time.”

Book shelves extend above natural forming clouds inside the tree. You cannot see their top (so very unlikely that you would want to climb all the way up. You can climb to a high shelf if you want.

Turning to the group Cheshire speaks loud enough for all to hear. “Are we rushing forward or sneaking through? I can climb up and have a bit of a higher view but I will be slowed a bit.”
"Normally I take front rank, but seeing as how you are, well, an elephant person whose strength might in fact match an ogres, why don't you take the lead, Unless anyone else feels particularly tanky."
Redek looks around at the group questioningly.
OOC: I can by MT or OT or martial dps. Anyone else have an inkling on this?
Hathi nods to Redek and moves to the front. "If we don't know what we are walking into, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go a little slowly. Cheshire, was that your name? If you want to climb a little higher, I will try to keep pace with you and we will communicate if either of us sees danger. And Archimedes, I would like to know what happened before as well."
You also see the shadowed figure move closer to you, still in the shadows so you can't see them.
Its your turn in initiative
Group:
"This is where i got captured 6 years ago... and became a slave whoot. It's too painful still. I'm sorry whoot." Archimedes says solemnly and continues " I will wait here I promise. Whoot. And since Cheshire is scouting ahead the least I can do is this..." He flaps his wings and feathers fly all over Cheshire and the rest of the party. You all now have pass without trace on you. (+10 to your stealth rolls)
Cheshire go ahead and make Investigation and Perception checks and since you are up high I will give you advantage on both. The rest of the party you can make any checks you like, just let me know what you are trying to see. I will let you know that anyone who does not have Darkvision you're vision in the Restricted Area is lowered to only 10 ft diameter.

Tik-tok proceeds with the group, from the tavern back to the library from which he had only just come from. The drop in temperature as they proceed through the fog registers on his internal display as the numbers count down, but actively, the mechanical man pay no attention to the change.
His sensors take in what the party and Archimedes say and do, including the owl's mention of being a slave. While Tik-tok himself could actually relate, it is not a conscious point to him, as he had been constructed for such shackled servitude and had not yet discovered a true meaning of purposeful freedom, yet.
Instead this prompted Tik-tok to read through the book he had picked up "The History of Town Square." He searched the book's pages in an attempt to identify if the material was recent/detailed enough to provide what threats could have enslaved Archimedes and/or may be awaiting them in the fog. Investigation: 17
He keeps one eye on other members of the group, giving more attention to the book, but ensuring that he does not wander away. Simultaneously he sets presdigitation to cast with every left step, making a green arrow on the ground, pointing the way back, should they come along the path within the next hour.
