Tik-tok retreats from his current position, to give the Boss Book a wider berth. ((Move to L19)). And allow the more close-quarter inclined party members to engage the threat.
Not necessarily wanting to damage the book, in order to subdue it, he calculates the risks of the bolt, versus the potential gain of information from its 'dead' or otherwise immobile remains, once it has been dispatched.
