Regaining his balance after being jostled by the pony, Wick quickly draws a bead on the monster and fires an arrow, piercing a beefy shoulder with a THWACK! Following directly behind Wick’s projectile, Warren steps about and, with an unusual movement identical to his prior attack, brings his blade to bare. His blade bites even deeper this time around and once again, the brute’s body is immediately covered in an oddly shimmering energy. In the same instant, Griffen whirls his axe in a mighty swing and buries the weapon’s head nearly to its shaft in the monster’s chest!
With a gurgling howl, the great creature staggers back a step before dropping to one knee and keeling over, clearly quite dead.

[OOG: for future reference (and as a slight deviation from some other games a few players are involved in), I will not require any special rolls to search a body UNLESS you are looking for something specific, non-obvious, or are searching in a hurry. That said, I may occasionally ask you to make a specific roll depending upon the wording of your intended action.]
Though Wick's investigation is only cursory, he finds the following:
A makeshift greatclub (truly, a small tree or large sapling) sized for a large creature
A crude necklace made of bones and shiny, unpolished rocks
Near the creature's body, the primitive javelin if flung at Warren still protrudes from the ground.
In addition, the monster had, tucked within a fold of its makeshift armor, a crumpled piece of parchment. On one side is a smeared ink-drawing reminiscent of a map. On the other, a jittery, child-like scrawl of symbols covers half the available space.
Though Wick, Warren, and Grigor are unable to parse the symbols, the rest of the party recognize Dwarvish script. That said, Remdesivir can attest that, though the letters are Dwarvish characters, the words are not Dwarvish. Likewise, Caldath and Griffen know that the language is not that of Goblins and Raja knows the same holds true for Gnomish, both languages which utilize Dwarvish characters.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Insight check for Grigor to see if he can glean any sort of meaning from the drawing on the parchment, since the script is not one he knows how to read: 11
After examining the map side of the parchment for several minutes, brow furrowed in concentration, Grigor shakes his head. "I can't make much of this... drawing? Map? Whatever it's supposed to be. But..." he points to the bottom right corner of the parchment "can anybody understand what these two words say? They appear to have been written by someone other than whoever wrote the scrawl on the backside of the parchment."
Warren closes in on the brute. Once more he brandishes his longsword in an unusual display before bringing it down on the creature's hide.
Attack: 22 Damage: 4
Remdesivir, seeing the opertunity and pressing the advantage, strike once more at the creature.
Attack: 1

WHAT WILL YOU DO NOW?
Caldath kicks the corpse's head, "D'you suppose there's more of whatever this is?" His eyes narrow, "Has it got anything on it worth salvaging?"
"If there are more of them, I don't very much care to meet them. We should hurry up and be on our way."
Wick quickly searches through the ogre's belongings and announces his findings to the group.

Wick does not intend to keep any of the items he found, he waits to hear from Grigor.

Raja will try to interpret the two words Grigor has indicated.
Insight 18
[OOG: to save time, I will assume everyone in the party looks at the words Grigor points out.]
Remdesivir recognizes the words as Dwarvish for "Khol Tharum" - the name of the mine to which the party is traveling.
With this information to help orient and interpret the smeary drawing, the party can just barely decipher a rough layout of the mine.
[OOG: See FB post for image.]
"This should prove useful. I wonder how that brute came to be in possession of it? Either way, we'd best continue on our way."
Grigor unties his pony and mounts up, ready to resume the journey.
Wick nods in agreement, mounts on his pony ready to continue the trek.
Warren also re-mounts his pony and proceeds.
Remdesivir stoops over the creature's corpse, and cuts off it's right ear. Remdesivir then pockets the ogre's ear, and mounts his pony.
Griffen mounts up on his pony and starts off down the road.
Raja continues along with the rest of the party.
