Duncan:
Looking embarrassed, Duncan glances over to Kat and says, “Ah yes, traps…I, uh, should have waited.” He looks around carefully for what might be a mask, but does not touch anything yet, letting the more magic-savvy people take the lead there.

"Kat, maybe you should check for traps on that chest over by the bed," Torman suggests. "I have a feeling what we are looking for might be in there. It has a strong magical aura about it, as does that sword over there by the wall."
While Kat does her thing, Torman will investigate the book on the reading desk.

The book on the reading desk seems to be a ritual book full of spells for a cleric. You think summoning. You only get a glimpse of it as It snaps shut once you touch it.
You pick the lock avoiding the trap. When you open it everyone sees inside a black mask, a horned mask of glossy ebony which has horns and a skull-like mien of a black dragons head. A hum in the air crackles around it as it disappears , a distant female sounding roar happens, which is more like a scream in anger and rage, emanates towards the castle gates. Wisdom dictates Rezmir may know somethings up.
"Well, I didn't expect it to be quite that easy," says Duncan sardonically as he strides over and picks up the finely-crafted greatsword, adding, "Maybe this will help in the reckoning to come. Think we should get out of here?" He starts walking to the door.

"Yep, best get out of here." Kat agrees. She scoops up the book as they head for the door. She is looking to get back to the stone giant's chamber as quick as possible, hopefully before the mask's owner comes calling.
You still hear the sounds of battle as you step out the door from this view point you can only see the north part of a huge cavern like room Two large giant sized doors are to the south 15ft away, leading to the castles lower courtyard. You remember seeing a spiral staircase to the Southwest past the doors. You can see to the north a wall some distance away. To the north you think you'll be unseen leaving but you're not sure where it leads. Southeast ether way your not sure where it leads.
Coming out of the room, Duncan hears the sounds of battle and says, “Wait, this could be our opportunity. We’re dressed as cultists, right? We should be hurrying towards the battle to ‘help’, and if the mask gets lost in the din of battle or the speaker is slain, that’s just what can happen with battles, right?”
"What?!" Torman asks. "You want us to willingly go into battle and try to kill the speaker or steal the mask? That sounds crazy . . . so crazy that it might just work. What do you think, Kat? You up for a little melee?" If Kat follows Duncan, Torman will, too.
The sound of battle subsides. The male stone giant states to the female "It seems they repulsed the woman in white. I wonder why she came here." The female shrugs.
Earlier: Duncan finds where he is at on the icefield of a courtyard a longways from the gate he makes it half way and see's the woman in white high above riding on a wyvern dodging ballista's while she fires firebolts from her fingers The battle goes on He see's an occasional fire ball coming from the turrets where the balista bolts are coming from and she does the same in return. The fire balls explode Knocking her companions whom are also riding wyverns out of the air to the world below. Finally the last you see of the woman in white she screams as a huge white dragon The one the kobold called the white lady roars above and with amazing speed flies grappling the woman in white disappearing tumbling over the side of the castle with the wyvern.
The turrets at the front gate tower to high for you to see whos on them other than the ogres you've seen before I guess you go back to the Giants chambers to state what you last stated its up to you Duncan
With no way to join the fight in the air, Duncan watches the combat. Alone, he heads back to the giant’s chambers with the others. Once there, he relates the tale of the battle.

Kat sighs and moves to the trunk. She checks it for traps...
Perception is a 19, rolled in game log.
You find what looks to be a needle trap by its lock.
You only see what others have mundanely seen

Although he may not be able to use it but being the bibliophile he is, Torman attempts to take the book and put it into his backpack.
"A trap here..." Kat says softly for the others to hear. She pulls out some tools and gets to work on the lock...
Thieve's tool rolled in game log, result was a 25.

(Torman thinks the mask was teleported)

(We just came from the Stone giant's chamber. That is where Kat wishes to go, so she should know how to get back there...)
Torman follows Kat back to the stone giants' chamber.

Meanwhile the stone giants go about their business while you're in the chambers.

"Very well, let's do it." Kat says with a ferile grin. She is ready to throw caution to the wind and see about joining the ongoing combat.
