Ben, Helena says "I mean... you wouldn't have known it here given the lackluster crowd reaction I got earlier... but you know Ben, I'm quite the star back home."and she winks at you. "UGH! Well deep pockets only go so far with me, Ben!" she laughs at herself "Maybe that's why I'm still playing at the Line, right?!"and she laughs again, and checks to see if Hanna was listening. She wasn't. But she sees you two talking. (during this part of the date, Kiorna was in the bathroom after your performance to freshen up, and then she expected you do be a little while coming back to the table. So, she wasn't rushing you back.)
Ash, this seems like a well organized event. Nothing shady that you can see. You notice some spectators head over to make bets, but it's not like it's a mad rush or anything. Everything seems... chill. What you do notice though is the skill level of some of these fighters as they warm up. Some pretty impressive combos. The one that Korrik is fighting looks particularly skilled.
Ash, the woman would respond by tapping ‘Safe - yes - you - new? - you - fight? I - Live - here - ha - ha - ha. Um - what - is - your - friend - doing?' and she quickly tries to mimic his hand sign.
Ash, the guy in the SE corner at the desk looks at your bet, and then looks over at Korrik, and then looks at Kreb, and then slightly shakes his head and sighs and eventually takes your bet. He simply says "Thank ye, arrrr. Come back here should yer guy win and you'll get yer payout. Arrrrrrrrrrr."
Korrik, Kreb tells you that if you win the fight, you get your portion of the winning fighters pot. It's a calculation based on odds from each fight. He can't give you an amount because it depends on how much money comes in from the betting and then it's split up based on the odds from the winners. It's usually a good haul especially if you're on good odds.
He says losers get nothing. Makes better payouts for the winners.
He also says that the ring boy helps fighters who have been KO'd. They have 'remedies' for serious cases.
Korrik, Kreb seems very appreciative of your response. "Alright, alright. You make a good point, Korrik. Alright. Good then." and he noticeably calms down.
Korrik, Kreb responds "HA! Lad I hope your punches are better than your jokes!"you see the ring boy chuckle at this.
Korrik, unless you want to roll a slight of hand check, at least one person sees you give the potion to Ash, but they don't react to it.
The guy doing the bets comes over and yells "OK! Bets arrrrrrrrr done. Time to fight." and he returns to his desk, and you see the first set of fighters enter the pit and the fights begin.
I have updated the card to show the winners so far. I won't give details of how the fight went to save time, but will absolutely play out each PC (and NPC if Ess ever fights) fight, turn by turn.
"Korrik, you're up". says Kreb. You see Mel enter the pit and a few of the crowd cheers as she does some impressive kicks and goes to her corner.
Korrik, please roll initiative.
Ess yells "GET HER BRO!!!!!! GET HER!!!!"and basically all of the crowd gives him the stink eye.
Ash is satisfied with the place. She settles in as the fights start. She messages back, ‘He’s - with - me… He’s - harmless… We’re - relatively - new - in - town… I - ‘find - things - that - are - lost’… ((ie ‘master thief’))… What’s - your - Trade? ((capital ‘T’))… Are - you - guild?’.
She’s just feeling her out. If she’s part of a guild, what her speciality is, if she has skills that might be useful.

He pats his lute,
"This lets me add some visuals to the performance. I admit it is a gimmick and I wouldn't try it with a discerning audience, but these folks are just looking for entertainment."
Ben chuckles at the deep pockets joke,
"A star can play wherever she likes! It never hurts to get back to your roots and get out and meet people. I've learned some of my best songs at places like this. I've also been robbed and beaten, but you take the good with the bad. Not that Hanna runs that kind of place."

Korrik shucks his vest and hops down into the fighting pit wearing only his pants.

((If his higher mod means he gets the nod, Korrik will grip his toes into the floor to get a feel for things and move to the center, bowing slightly at Mel and taking a defensive stance [dodge]. ))
((He's not trying to hide it, just wants to make sure super fast cat friend has it to sprint down and administer it if he's dying and the ring boy is taking his sweet time.))
Ben, you notice Helena take note of the advice you give about playing at the Line. She says "woah wait... did you say visuals?" (you didn't use the visuals with your most recent performance this evening, right? Apologies if I missed that) "wait. Do you use magic when you play? With the lute? Where'd you get it?"
"Robbed and beaten? Really now? Ben, you are well travelled it seems, yes?!"
"Hanna, no not really, I mean just as long as I've been playing here for, which hasn't been all that long. She seems nice. Pays decent given the locale."
Kiorna starts to return to the table.
Ash, the woman gets a little uncomfortable when Ess starts blurting out and cheering for Korrik. She adjusts her position awkwardly, and responds 'harmless - wow - ok - annoying. guild? me? - HA! - NO. - no - guild. - learned - cant - from - ex - dumb - fork. fights - good - pay. - helps - to - support - daughter.
Ash, the woman winks at you and holds her fight card down by her legs. You see she has all of the correct picks so far. For the last fight, she picked Melanie to win. She would say you - on - the - new - guy - like - ur - friend?
Ash, she would continue 'OH - right. Tabaxi. Claws. accident - year - ago. oh - the - blood'
Korrik, a few of the spectators cheer as you shuck your vest and hop into the pit.
(I shouldn't call it a pit. It's just a gated off section, so you can't jump down into it. The bus boy would've opened the gate for you to enter, but you could've for sure hopped over the gate!)
Korrik, you feel the natural stone on your feet as you grip the floor. It's not the softest terrain; the stone is broken up in parts and there's also some dirt, but the entire pit seems to have been packed down quite well. Maintained.
You move forward to the center and bow slightly at Mel, taking a defensive stance. It is now that she looks at you for the first time. Her purple suit is well fitted and you see now that she's in great shape. She nods ever so slightly back at you after you bow.
She pauses, and then takes a step forward, jumps in the air and does a full tucked flip in the air and sticks the landing. This is an action for her. As she lands, she calls you forth with her hand and puts her weight on her rear leg as a bonus action.
((Had to go back and check on the magic from the lute. Post 2480, yep, he used it. Just throwing up vague visuals and shadows to help spur imaginations, his words and music do most of the work.

"The lute lets me do what you saw, some limited illusions. I received it as a gift in Helm's Hold, but I'm surprised you haven't seen them before. They aren't that uncommon, though I admit I've never seen a harp version."
His smile doesn't waiver as he shakes his head,
"Usually it went beaten then robbed, but it has been a while since that's happened."
He does laugh (in a friendly way) when she says he is well traveled,
"Helena, you don't have to go far from your front door to get waylaid! Neverwinter can't be so safe that you'd miss that!"
On Hanna,
"She is generous and went out of her way to welcome me into town. It's always pleasant to find...open minds in small towns."
He'll bring his tail around to emphasize the point.
"She was pleased to have booked you sounded like!"

Korrikgives a bit of a shrug, before darting forward, driving a palm at the spot just below her ribcage, and a kick at her inner thigh, and a leaping back hand towards her temple.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((damn, I even went back to that post as well, but clearly I didn't read it closely! Thanks Rod))
Helena responds "Hmm. I mean, I've seen some good players in my days, although I always chalk it up to, well, you know, actual skill and not just playing with magic!"she winks at you again. "Although odd as it might sound, yes I've never actually seen a visual before. It was rather nice, Ben. I can see how it adds to the show."she thinks about it for a bit.
"Ouch. Well, glad to hear it's been awhile since it happened. The beating and all. Did you play a wrong tune? I'm not kidding. You play one note wrong that someone requested and let me tell you.... ah, I suppose that's another story. You're right about back home though. It isn't the... how can we say... friendliest city around, yes? Managed to stay out of trouble though. Easy enough once you get in with the temple choirs. A simple life, you know?"
She sighs.
"Oh yeah, Hanna. Well that doesn't surprise me. I come highly recommended! Ha!"and she laughs at herself.
She eyes your tail as you bring it around, and she is onside with your 'open minds in small towns' bit. "Exactly!"
((At this rate, I'm going to have to get Helena on the NPC tab. Will do that tomorrow.))
At this point, Kiorna is back at the table, but she isn't rushing you back or anything. She understands. It's the 'biz'.
Korrik, you shrug, rush forward and drive your palm towards her sternum. She turns slightly sideways, and your palm brushes harmlessly across her firm breast.
She brings her leg up and checks your kick to her thigh with her shin, and then tilts her head slightly to avoid the backhand. The backhand actually connects but she does just enough with her head tilt to avoid taking any damage from it.
After Korrik's backhand, Mel tries to slap Korrik as hard as she can across the face, just once, and then as fast as a cat she takes a few steps back as a bonus action. From there, she brings her hand up and calls Korrik forth once again. (she is not dodging anymore)
Slap: 12 Damage: 7
((let me know the results of that as I'm not sure if Korrik has any reactions, etc! Also, in these 1:1 fights especially in here, I think it's cool if the player describes the visual of the result of the attack that is against them.))
Ess yells and tries to get a chant going "KOR - RIK! KOR - RIK! KOR - RIK! KOR - RIK!" and he elbows Ash trying to get her to start chanting Korrik's name. "Come on, Ashy! Cheer on your boy!"
Ash, will you join in the cheering?
No one else from the crowd joins in this cheering yet.
Korrik is up, and let me know about the slap result, map is updated!
"When you find one you'll probably find a use for it in your performances! It usually is just a matter of considering which images fit best without them become the focus. It's there to support us, not the other way around. Too many with props end up over reliant on them."
On the beatings,
"The beatings came for different reasons, the way I looked, the music I play and," he coughs, "My having implied on different occasions that certain members of the audience had porcine heritage. I don't have much experience with Neverwinter, really, but it was welcoming enough. Cities have personalities but I wouldn't say any of them are particularly friendly." He laughs, "Temple choirs? I will have to take your word on that, but I do image they can provide a simple life."
Ben offers her his hand,
"Helena, again, a pleasure hearing and meeting you. May your travels be safe and your strings stay tight! I will ask after you next time I am in Neverwinter."
As his foot connects, and Mel is left gasping, Korrik unleashes a fist at her side, ducks and pivots through her legs and unleashes a kick at the back of her knee, and an elbow strike to the thigh.
(Flurry of blows.)

As Mel is left gasping after weathering his series of attacks, Korrik continues striking, moving through portions of his training forms, essentially using Mel's incapacitated body as a training dummy.
((No stun attempt this turn, but another flurry of blows, and as a rule for the whole fight, if any strike would be a finishing strike, he'll opt to leave her stable at 0HP.))
Ash goes to respond to the Thieve’s Cant, or to maybe join in the ‘Korrik’ chant… but… is just staring… at the little guy… mouth slightly open, eyes growing wide, while her pupils narrow to predatory slits…!
Ash is transfixed by the fight.. She will no doubt respond to the others in a second…
She sits slightly forward, and a little bit straighter in her chair. She almost breaths ‘whoa!…’, but nothing comes out. She just mouths it…
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ben, Helena listens intently and sympathetically to your stories about getting beaten, and she seems genuinely interested and appreciative of the advice you give her with the magical instruments.
"Ben, could you... no. I.. I can't ask." she waits a moment, looks at your tail and your face and then continues "Ah, to bollucks with it. Ben. You sound like you're well travelled. Could you... I mean, if you ever do see a magical harp in your travels, would you be so kind as to grab it for me? Or at least perhaps ask the merchant to save it? Here, I can write down my details back in Neverwinter and should you come across one could you perhaps let me know?"
She takes a quill that was around and writes down her address as well as the temple that she plays at and gives it to you.
She takes your hand and shakes it gently "Pleasure indeed, Ben! And sorry again about earlier! Ha! Enjoy the rest of your date."and then she starts to pack her things.
Korrik, you hear Mel grunt as you block her slap, and then hear a full on gag as your kick connects. It knocks the wind right out of her. (-5, as per OOC thread.) Mel is totally surprised by this kick and starts to suck air. You've knocked the wind out of her.
Korrik begins his assault. He sinks his fist into her side (-5), kicks her knee out (-9) and then drives his elbow into her leg (-5). Her eyes widen with surprise as she still tries to get her breath.
As Mel is left gasping after weathering his series of attacks, Korrik continues striking, moving through portions of his training forms, essentially using Mel's incapacitated body as a training dummy.
TOTAL DAMAGE = 46. (same number as Spider in the OOC, yay!)
Unlike Ash, a few of the other spectators now start echoing Ess's cheering given the flurry that just happened. Ash, you can hear some mumbles of the crowd who are just as impressed by Korrik's skill as you are as they watch on at the end of their seats.
Mel doesn't even realize at first what happened as she was so focused on getting her wind back. She regains focus (and air) in this split second moment and now feels the pain deep in her body where the halfling striked her. Her knee is completely jacked up real bad, and her mask is dripping blood.
Ess yells "YEAH HOW'S YER KNEE NOW!! TRY THAT FLIPPING SHITE NOW, YA DUMB BI*CH! YEAH!!! GO KORRIK!!"
(lol)
Some fighters now start to look at Ess from where they are in their corner.
Mel is up.
She hisses through her mask and then lets out a scream while she brings her leg up for an axe kick trying to bring it down on Korrik's shoulder, followed by two quick jabs to his nose.
(she is attacking, then using flurry of blows, and if either of the two flurry attacks hit, then her 'Way of Open Hand' hand technique kicks in -> and Korrik cannot take reactions until the end of Mel's next turn.)

Korrik tries to duck under the axe kick, but she carries through, catching him across the back, but it seems she's not quite as use to punching down as he is to punching up and he easily fends off the two jabs.
As she pulls back from her second jab, he follows it in with a leaping strike for the throat.
Attack: 14 Damage: 8

Ha! Enjoy the rest of your date." and then she starts to pack her things.
Attack: 13 Damage: 9 (MISS)
Attack: 28 Damage: 9 (HIT)
Attack: 18 Damage: 5 (HIT)
Attack: 26 Damage: 8 (HIT)
Axe kick: 21 Damage: 4
Jab to nose: 18 Damage: 6
Jab to nose: 19 Damage: 5
Let me know the results!
Korrik is up, map is updated.
He's momentarily distracted by Ess's hooting and hollering, but refocuses and gets his head back in the fight.

Korrik nods as she shrugs off the strike, following it with three more attacks, mixing up the height he's striking at, trying to draw her defenses low before striking high.
