Hey all, sorry for the delay, Labor day weekend had me away from my computer since my last post.
As you all work to assist Firth down the narrow tunnel back toward the access point, you all begin to hear rustling sounds coming from behind you, advancing rapidly. As you turn, you begin to see a living wave of rats begin to flow down the passage behind you, about 60 feet behind you. There appear to be a pack of giant rats coming down the passage toward you, shrieking and hissing with an unbridled animal fury, about 45ft away. Bryn, With your keen darkvision, you also see a cloaked figure at the end of the tunnel, holding his arms extended up over his head and chanting rhythmically.
Roll for initiative as the rats begin screeching down the tunnel toward you!
Bryn is even with Jormund as they help out the guardsman. After sighting the rat wave and the figure directing them, he yells, “RUN!!!”, casts Hunter’s Mark, looses an arrow at the cloaked figure, and then turns to help Jormund lift/drag the injured guardsman along.

(If turning to help Jormund is too much, just ignore it)
Vedui will try to provide cover while they get he guard out, standing between them and the rat hoard, drawing forth his silvered dagger and also one dart, and taking the dodge action.
Jormund will help Firth get to the exit as fast as he's able, carrying him if necessary with his dwarvish ability to move when encumbered. "Hold on lad. That be rodents! Let's move!"

As you all prepare for the oncoming sea of rats, if you are going to attempt to run with Firth toward the exit, then we're going to enter into a chase of sorts. This mass of rats appears to fill the tunnel between you and the cloaked figure and does not appear to have an end. It might not overwhelm you immediately, but they are beyond counting and would take far longer than you have to kill them all.
The entrance to the tunnel is about 120ft behind you, and Firth, being injured/exhausted, can only move 15 ft per round without assistance. each round you will have the ability to take action to help your party escape, either helping your team or harming the rats/cloaked figure.
You can dash, but each time will require a constitution check equal to 10 + the total number of dashes taken - Con modifier.
Additionally, for each round, I will roll a d20 which will create a complication for the chase.
So for round 1,
Bryn, your attack hits the cloaked figure, who grunts in pain and ducks behind the corner. The rats visibly falter as he is distracted, and their movement is reduced by half. Moving and dashing, they approach 30ft closer. The front rats are now only 15 feet away from Vedui.
Vedui, before the figure ducks behind the wall, it sends out a poisonous finger of decay in your direction attempting to strike you with a chill touch. Please make a DC 14 Con save or take 9 damage.
Jormund, as you attempt to help Firth move towards the exit, you attempt to hustle him along, but end up stumbling as you come across a rough patch in the floor. Using your movement and dash, you can assist Firth 30ft down the corridor.

you pass by a small light slit, shedding a small sliver of light into the tunnel. Next round, the party and the rats are regarded as being in dim light, not darkness.
Bryn sees, Vedui fall and curses their current string of luck as he rushes to him. Once he reaches Vedui, Bryn casts Cure Wounds on him for 7 of healing. ”Quit sleeping on the job!!! Too much work to be done!” though the tone of voice is more one of concern and friendly teasing and banter than it is one of actual scolding.
After watching the cloaked figure stumble, Bryn returns his attention to the group. He sees Jormund stumble with Firth, and quickly goes over to help him while keeping an eye out for some other way out of their current predicament.

Moving at top speed, you rush down the tunnel and see Jormund helping a guardsman towards you. You heard somebody shout Run! and see Bryn getting Vedui up off the ground. You're about 10ft from Firth and Jormund, who are hurrying down the passage toward you.
