The others open up and give him some room as Red lays down his belongings and take some distance from the bridge, nodding at the others and receiving Eldath's soothing blessing from Mihris. The artificer breathes in, clicks his heels with some magic spark, and charges on towards the bridge in a burst. The moment Red touches one of the barely visible silvery lines hanging about, a loud sound of breaking ice echoes over the bridge and around the chambers, he is still mid air when the boot wearer on the other end of the bridge jumps to action. Landing safely on the other half of the bridge and quickly sliding to the other side of the crevasse over the ice, he sends his vines at the hidden person, but they fail to connect with the person, hitting and dropping over some crates instead.
The robed figure is about to rise to his feet with a look of contempt and almost disgust over his face, one of his hands reaching for a scroll hanging from his belt.
((took the liberty of making some of Red's rolls to speed up this surprise round, and sorry for the not so awesome rolls :) you may roll Initiative now. Red and the robed figure are up the yellowed area under torchlight (already suggested Astral should make all light effects show up UNDER the tokens but yeah...)))
"He almost got them!"Mia bites her lip. She jumps out of the shadow. Three Magic Stones are trembling in her hand. The little elf shares two of them with the Harpers. "Take the guy out before they use the scroll!"
"He did!" The attack was very impressive, even if deep down Mihris hoped for a more peaceful resolution. Without hesitation anymore she raised her crossbow:
Vanys reaches for his crossbow but after a moment of consideration, he instead thrusts his hand forward and releases a spike of blue psychic energy in the direction of the spellcaster.
Cast Mind Sliver against Robed Figure. Robed Figure must make a DC 13 Intelligence Saving Throw. On a failure, they take 2 Psychic Damage and must subtract 1 from their next saving throw.

(No worries. I wasn't sure what you were going to want to roll. But that works great~ hey I didn't fall in! Only consideration was possibly using the Inspiration on it since Red still has his; but saving it for the big scene isn't good too. So I'll save it 'cause I liked the description and how its going.
Was that my action for this "round" regardless of my inititive. or do I also have an action now that we've all rolled now?)
Breathing hard and feeling the jitters of having leapt over something quite dangerous, Red couldn't steady his aim. Seeing the situation now-Red opt to try something drastic as the enemy reaches for the scroll. Pulling a small orb, resembling a marble out and throwing it as hard as a he can at the Scroll itself. Attempting his utmost to burn the scroll before the enemy does whatever it is they plan to.
[spell]Firebolt;[Firebolt] 19 If this attack occurs I will use the Inspiration now to give myself advantage here to try and destroy the scroll. 1 Fire Damage
Catching sight of the elaborate scroll the spellcaster in front of him is reaching for, Red quickly asserts the importance of the item, and accordingly throws his enchanted orb and in a stroke of inspiration as his spell's aim holds true and the flaming marble embeds itself inside the paper rolls. Soon enough the whole scroll is aflame and falling into darknened pieces to the stone floor. Stepping forward, Vanys reaches into his sorcerous powers to exert his mind upon the startled spellcaster (22), who detects the mental attack and manages to steel himself in time, his own spellcasting training clearly helping with that.
With his original plan having seemingly been foiled, the spellcaster looks desperate, kneeling down behind the wooden crates and assuming a lame excuse for a defensive position with his arms in front of him, shouting "We're being invaded! Get in here you fools!" towards the general direction of the door behind him. Mathis and Gaoch both nod at each other and squeeze through Mialee and Mihris to dash in and quickly move their way across the bridge int he hopes of cutting off the spellcaster's way to escape. At the same time, shuffing is heard from further down the corridor, behind the door, as what sounds like many feet shift and sprint across the floor, picking up weapons and getting ready for battle. Seconds later, the door slams open and a stream of robed figures—most of them showing weary sleepy eyes—fills the corridor behind the spellcaster, all bearing old rusty blades and waving them threateningly at you under screeching shouts of "Frostmaiden take you!"
((Nice move there, Red! The scroll is an object made out of paper (AC 11) and tiny (2 hp). I'll go ahead and consider paper as having vulnerability to fire, so the adjusted 2 total damage destroys it! You can also have your Inspiration back immediately. :) The spellcaster is dropping prone and dodging. To keep this moving faster, I'll make the new cultists share the spellcaster's initiative if that's OK, they just stood up/dashed for this round. Don't mind the little white spheres that appeared around the map, I took the screenshot in map editing mode. Also, removed the second torchlight in the room and left only the one carried by Red, it was getting kinda difficult to see everyone's tokens.))
As Vanys's mind blast is resisted, he now pulls his crossbow out, and steps forward and closer to the bridge so that he can get a clear shot at the spellcaster. If he can't do that, he will position it so that he can fire at one of the robed figures.
(Calling all Cultists. Holy cow thats quite a lot of them! Are we on a full new turn then?. Also the two to my left are our allies and the one below is the enemy caster. Correct?
Someone more versed in the rules; I can breifly sstand on an ally's space, do something and move back correct? I.e. I could move through our two allies (Taking attacks of opportunity), cast a spell, and then retreat?. Probably provoking more AOOs I assume. I have one AOE spell and one spell slot left. and thats a lot of scary follks. but I don't believe I can use a line and not him my allies unless i move on top of them and do it closer... because I can not stand up and shoot at that line. ((We're on the first turn, right after the enemies acted, so Mihris and Mialee are technically up, but since you're all going before the enemies, you can arrange yourselves to speed posting up. Yes, the two to your west are Gaoch and Mathis, you can move through their space (as difficult terrain), but not end your turn there (unless either you or the person sharing the square are prone, which is not strictly RAW but I allow it.))
((Totally forgot Gaoch and Mathis needed to act too, but you all can choose their actions along with yours, they're holding daggers (1d4+1) and the scimitars (1d6+1) Vanys gave them (so off-hand attack bonus action is available), all with +3 to hit. After Mihris healed Mathis, they're both at 11hp and 12AC, they also have 1d6 Sneak Attack 1/turn.))
Vanys steps ahead over the icy bridge and produces his crossbow, shooting the deadly weapon at the cowering spellcaster ((disadvantage, since he's dodging, 18, and it's still a hit)) and the bolt thuds into his shoulder as he winces in pain and curses the sorcerer. However bleeding, the spellcaster still clings to the crates beside him and tries to avoid any more fire.
((Warning: I'll be flying over to visit my brother in Brasilia tomorrow, so expect some delays and no map-changing posts (but we can continue in theather of the mind) since I'll be mostly only on my phone. :) I'll be coming back home on the 21st, so we return to the regular speed then.))
Mihris remained on her side (the other one was way too crowded already) and just sent another bolt at the "scroll guy": Attack: 22 Damage: 9
((disadvantage roll due to the scroll guy's dodge: 15, and it's still a hit despite cover!))
Mihris takes a single step to get a better view of the scene, and even among the current chaos the mob of cultists is causing on the other side, she manages a shot at the crouching spellcaster. The bolt sinks into his collarbone as a dark line streams down his already stained clothes, the spellcaster falls to the floor helplessly and unconscious.
((Mialee and Red are free to go before the enemies (somewhere between the end of the 1st and first half of the 2nd round), anyone can post actions for Gaoch and Mathis, otherwise I'll get to them before the enemies go next time. 🤙))
Gaoch and Mathis lunge forward and attempt to stab their blades into the nearest robed figures. If any of their attacks manage to take down one of the cultists, then they will switch focus to the next enemy.
(OOC: I assume they will both move around so that they can be together in front of any of the figures so that they both get a sneak attack...)

"Gaoch, Mathis, Incoming!" Red shouts as he angles in, and pulls out a copper rod, roughly carved and worked. Slipping a vial of acid within, Red dips past his temporary allies and a gout of acid fires out towards the cultiest swarms, before cutting down and standing over the fallen spellcaster to help form up a line.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gaoch and Mathis both advance over the cultists, swirling their blades in unison like the seasoned partners they are, quickly felling the two eager robed figures in the front with deep gashes across their skin. As Mathis steps in to fill the gap left by the enemies, Red rushes forward and from his metal rod flows a gush of fuming liquid over the unprepared cultists, showering most of them with burning acid, filling the corridor with the pained screams of all but one of them, who used the wooden door nearby for a quick improvised cover.
The cultists desperately try to get rid of the acid eating away at their skin, using the symbolic 'sacred' robes of their order to wipe it out. The one in front of the group is overcome by fear and attempts to head back into the room, while the others seem hesitant, but are instigated forward by the shouts of single cultist that avoided the acid. Amidst the chaos, a faintly glowing rock thrown by Mialee flies and hits one of the enemies squarely on the forehead, who shakes dazedly but manages to steady himself before advancing along with the single unharmed companion over Gaoch, who had the most success in downing his cultist allies.
The cultist trying to flee is downed by Gaoch's attack before Mathis' blade can even reach it, and the partners smile and exchange satisfied nods. However, the cultists advance and both hit previously proud Gaoch with slashes from their rusty blades.
The last droplets of acid conjured by Red hit the second wooden door in the room the cultists came froom, producing small holes which let sounds escape more easily from the space beyond it. The shouting voices you all heard before can be heard more easily now, clearly in some heated commotion, most of them somewhat familiar.
((All of the cultists hit by the acid used their actions to wipe the acid away, and are badly wounded. Gaoch is at 3/11. Greyed corpses insisted on showing up over the tokens, but Mathis is north of Gaoch and the way is blocked by the two cultists who attacked.))
(OOC: Nope... both plans sound fine to me (and Vanys) so it really is just a matter of who wants to go (Mihris or Red)...)
