Layla... 15... Sees the light and starts to walk toward it.

Baryk stabs Jianyu bringing him down.

The crowd roars.

"Baryk has taken down his foes! He stands victorious!"

Medics slip out onto the field quickly stabilizing the fallen contestants.

Basil, jumps down into the arena to congratulate the victor. He holds up Baryk's arm. "Baryk Greycastle, earns the win!"

A short, young, human male steps out of the shadows at the top of the arena. His blue and white robes look worn, but well maintained, and the light hammer stuck into his sash looks like it met ore and skulls alike. He finds his way to the preparation rooms, and calmly says: "I hear that this is a place for people to test their mettle. I would like to test my skills".

Awaiting a response, he folds his hands within the long sleeves of his robe. He looks calm and ready.

Baryk embraces the roar of the crowd and bellows a victorious cheer! Haha! I wouldn't have succeeded if not for the support of my adoring fans! He smiles and waves to the crowd.

The fans cheer and jump up and down vying for Baryk's attention as Basil leads him from the arena.

Baryk gains 300 xp advancing to level-2 as he is awarded a prize of 100 gold coins. Basil, brings him down to the prize room.

Tier 1: 

Layla, ozmo, and Jianyu wake up on tables in the medic's bay some time later. Sore and tired they each grow in knowledge and experience through defeat. Each gains 200 xp and a pouch containing 40 gold.

"Nylah, I'd like to meet him some time. I need to focus now though." He tucks the origami flower behind her right ear, and gets up in a single, fluid motion, ready for what comes next.

The ball of nothingness rolls forward over the center of the arena...

(It applies to all attacks and saves following the failed save against bane for the duration.)

Toren moves around Viator and strikes twice, but the stick only rings against the armor plates. (That plate's really paying off.)
