Caya is half a step ahead of Ruhn (Polly), her hand on her sword that sits in it's sheath. If anybody looks at Ruhn (Polly) the wrong way, Caya begins to reach for her shield and tightens her grip on her sword.
The portal leads to the remains of a town, stone bricks and debris lie all over the dust-covered sidewalks. The faint smell of fire hits your nose as you head into the town. To the left, you spot a castle surrounded by a very large moat, and a very well in-tact bridge leading up to the entrance castle. Over there are two bulky red dragonborn guards with a halberd in each of their hand.
Cayasinia eyes the guards, tensing, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice. However, she waits for someone else to do the talking, knowing a guard should remain silent.
Tuner walks up to the guards. "This here is Rhun, leader of remnant. He requests an audience with the king, please deliver this letter to the king. It explains the request in more detail" and he hands over the letter.
"Please don't take too long, my Master has a bad temper and I wouldn't want to be on the bad end of that temper"
Polly-as-Rhun nods and grumbles as tuner speaks, ducking his head and furrowing his brow. Once the guards have the letter, he looks up, gives them a "I suppose this suffices" look and begins to take a step forward, watching to see what they do.
The goal is to show easy confidence, and definitely acting like you've been there before. It's not rude, but it's not polite. Polly guesses that Rhun would not be obsequious and polite here.
The first guard eyes the letter skimming through it. He looks up and hands the letter back to you, then both move out of the way, clearing the way into the castle.
Upon entry to Semun Castle, you find yourselves in the throne room. A green carpet with golden hinges stretches from the door you entered all the way to the throne, where a green dragonborn wearing a blue robe tied together with a gold belt. He gives you a smirk as you walk in, then says "Rhun, so nice to see you, but what business does your help have here?"
“My liege,” Polly-as-Rhun says in her best impression, bowing slightly. “These, ahem, representatives of Remnant wish to relay a question and I agreed to accompany them. ‘How much longer will this civil war last?’ I seek the same answer myself.”
(Looking around the room to see anyone else in there, any odd observers, magic, art, documents displayed - any clues at all. I’m OOC and in character completely winging this and have no idea what I am looking for or doing. Jumping headfirst into the River Plot, no life preserver. My thought was we are just looking for evidence of weirdness, since we have no idea OOC what this war has been like or what role this king has played.)

The king gives a light chuckle "This war will last until they tear each other apart, then a new beginning for this land will come."

Brightmoon looks around the room looking for anything out of place or odd (Perception: 14)
(OOC Brightmoon's backstory is that he is a trained spy with experience in the elven court)
You find nothing out of place nor anything of interest in the room, but you can feel both of the guards glare on you as you are checking the room.
"They will tear each other apart with without respect for those beneath their feet! Respectfully, good king, the small folk are not given equal rights."

The king bursts out laughing "Rights are all equal, no matter your size. We're all mortal big or small."
You all hear the first guard mumbling something to the king a little too loud "Shall I take him to the dungeon?" The king responds back "No, no. That won't be necessary." Then back to you "Isn't that what it means? A new beginning for this damned land, it is a curse with all these problems."
The second guard speaks "Something's not right about this, my king. Nobody of Rhun's represent would question us about th- wait a minute! you!" He points at Tuner "Hand over your invitation!"

"Sorry. I'm a member of the campaign for Equal Heights, and sometimes I don't think before I speak. Or I just don't think."
"My king," Caya says respectfully. "What exactly do you have in mind for these 'new beginnings' you speak of?"
She pauses, having an internal debate with herself, not wanting to question the king but knowing that it isn't right to let the war go on. After a moment she says, "And, forgive me, my king, but... should you really be leaving countless to die? If you don't stop this war, people will die. Innocents will die. As king, it is your duty to stop this. Please. I beg you. My king, please put an end to this. Put an end to the war."

OOC: Do I somehow know this guard from sort of a previous mission? Or is this just: "Hey let me read that letter again because I don't trust what is happening"? Also, do I have any clue on the "They" that should tear each other apart that the king means?

(No, this guard is of no familiarity to you at all, but it is obvious he is suspicious of you.)
You find nothing to be out of place or interesting from looking around. Everything looks completely normal, but the second dragonborn gives you a fiendish glare, apparently more suspicious of you.
(I'm just going to say Tuner handed over the invitation)
The guard looks closely at the letter, then says "Fah, forgery! They are imposters, my lord! They sould be taken to the dungeon and ex-" the king puts his hand up "That's enough, Kolvak. I'll take it from here." He looks towards Caya "You may be right, this kingdom has troubles, but it has been in my family for generations. I am unable to stop them on my own, but there is something that will help to stop it; The Five Relics of Chroma, five artifacts linked to a spirit of each of the five chromatic dragons. With them assembled together, they should be able to stop the war."
