The gourd-shaped small continent (or very large island) of "New Elbian" as the humans call it, has been colonised over a thousand years ago. Civilised races, led by human explorers have slowly settled the coast of the lower (larger) part of the "gourd", before expanding inland. The local wild lands were tamed and a multitude of evil creatures was cleansed from the land. Savage tribes of orcs, goblins and other monsters were subjugated. Some of these savages even learned the civilised ways and were allowed to settle in the allocated city districts. As of today only the smaller northern half of the continent, past the Rockgrinder mountain pass is still untamed wild land. Necromancers, demons and all manner of evilry are rumored to dwell there, and few adventurers parties return from there alive... So goes the story from the human point of view.
For you, the story is somewhat different. A strange individual deep in forest has gather non-human adventurers to fulfill missions for him. A pair of surviving adventurers returns back to him after a completed mission...
This is a continuation of the earlier compaign that I am running. For the sake of flow and pace I found it easier easier to create a new thread to save new player having to read 2000 posts just to be up to date with story.
I am looking for 3 players to join the campaign, to join the team from the campaign.
Characters:
3st level
Milestone EXP
Monster-type races
Standard gold or a single uncommon magic item
Misfits: you roll the stats, then take your stats roll in the order they are rolled. You can reroll the whole statline if you don't have at least 2 stats at 14+ (before any modifiers).
Alignment: anything except Lawful Good or Chaotic Neutral/Evil.
Backgound: some information the character's personality.
Players:
Aim to post once per day. If you go on holiday, it's fine, but do give a heads-up. Nothing is worse for a PbP than waiting for someone who has suddenly gone inactive in the middle of a fight scene. If there is a long delay, I will skip/NPC the inactive characters.
You may be a monster race, but you should be an intelligent creature. So if you decide to charge a bunch of armored knights head on, don't be suprised at the consequences. Don't be Stupid Evil.
Be respectful to other players. In-character your monster may be unfriendly to another monster, but players should be friendly to other players. After all we are here to have a good time and play together.
Depending on what you’ve got... I’m thinking a lizard folk. Maybe a ranger - swarm keeper or a death domain cleric. Maybe a scout rogue. Maybe something else, I want a good fit for what you already have.
I wouldn't mind joining back up with Nasaar, if you are past the town-building portion of this. I enjoyed your DM style, but just was not in on the civilization management aspects before. If you are past that, then I'd be up for this.

Certainly. The current part is more conventional adventure.

Raloran - Lizardfolk - Ranger (swarmkeeper) - Fisher Raloran is from the Seven Swamps. He enjoys the fine line where superstition meets real knowledge. He is a lizard man and worshipper of the World Snake, a primal entity there at the beginning. In all things, the World Snake can be seen moving the natural cycle of things. He is a fisherman and hunter of deep sea creatures. However, his homeland is often invaded by humans and elves, looking for some mythical treasure... Raloran knows them to be trespassers, and spends his days hunting them down before they can build one of their damned cities.
This isn’t to say he’s unfriendly. He just hates the elves and the humans. After all, dwarves have never come into his swamp. Orcs don’t. Most things don’t, really. And there are plenty of ways to see what the World Serpent has wrought. But you gotta get out there and see them.
Raloran enjoys fishing, and taking a nap in pool of cloudy water.
Understandable... But a little unfortunate for me, as I don't have any classic Monstruous Race unlocked at the Character Builder (unless we're counting Aarakocra,Tiefling, Goliath, Half-Orc and maybe Dragonborn as monstruous... And I'm already playing two of those races in other campaigns.)
Unless there's content sharing enabled, or failing that being able to fluff a base race in the sheet into something more fitting (A Half-Elf who's half bugbear rather than half human, for example. Yes, those are described in passing in the Wildemount setting, they can exist.)... I'm sadly going to have to drop out here. I'm sorry, and thanks for answering.

The firbolg called 'Fire-bolg' by others is an odd one, by firbolg standards. They live apart from the clans, for one thing, not because they've been outcast but because their calling makes community difficult, as well as their burn scarred form making some uneasy. As a young firbolg, they lived in a community, but fell behind as the others evacuated, falling and being lost to the flames... or so the others thought. Cut off, they managed to dig a trench, and almost got it deep enough to hide in when the flames washed over them, charring off hair and melting flesh. Caught in the agony of being roasted, they thought they heard whispering voices. They called out for help, pleading with a voice racked and coughing... and the voices paused. Flame pulled back around them as they lay weeping and smoldering... but the fire passed over.
When the fire passed, birds carried word, and the clan returned. They found the young firbolg half buried, exposed left side burnt, but still alive. The healers tended to them, and in time they recovered, but covered in burn scars along their left side, hair unable to grow back, giving them an odd, patchy look from a distance, and a partially melted appearance up close. Rather than be afraid of fire, however, they were convinced that fire is necessary and natural, and it is by holding fire away and preventing that cycle from happening that such large wildfires break free and grow to be so devastating. Once fully recovered, they began performing controlled burns, much to the initial dismay of the elders, but through demonstration and persuasion, they were permitted to continue... but it was one other thing that marked them as different.
In time, the sense of being part of the clan, but not part of the clan was more painful than just having separation, and they out, ostensibly to be able to continue their work, but also not to have to see other firbolgs they'd once been close with on a daily basis. Until recently, they lived in a small, cozy little cave when not traveling and tending to the forests, where other firbolgs would leave food or other supplies. The clan had come to appreciate the service and protection that they provided, and still did what they could to provide for one of their members.
As their connection to flame grew, they became more aware of shapes within the flame, and occasionally of whispered voices like they heard years before as they lay burning. The culmination of which was Narancal** making herself known to him. A spirit of flame, she was the one who held back her unthinking siblings from consuming him utterly, and had watched over him since. They formed a bond, a partnership, where hers is the flickering impulse and hunger and desires, while the Fire-bolg provides stability, a measure of caution, and helps her to navigate the material world successfully. Recently, Nara has become aware of things at work in the world at large, and they likewise saw troubling things in the flames. Like a forest choked with dead brush and fallen branches, cleansing fire is needed to let the cycle continue...
Hermit Feature: Discovery
The quiet seclusion of your extended hermitage gave you access to a unique and powerful discovery. The exact nature of this revelation depends on the nature of your seclusion. It might be a great truth about the cosmos, the deities, the powerful beings of the outer planes, or the forces of nature. It could be a site that no one else has ever seen. You might have uncovered a fact that has long been forgotten, or unearthed some relic of the past that could rewrite history. It might be information that would be damaging to the people who or consigned you to exile, and hence the reason for your return to society.
Work with your DM to determine the details of your discovery and its impact on the campaign.
((Pretty much whatever you'd want it to be, since it's an established campaign, just a hook to draw them out of seclusion and join up with a party.))
The Fire-bolg is accustomed to others finding them offputting, and tends to be a bit reserved, and has mostly only had conversations with Nara or animals of the forest for the last few years. It's been months since they've seen another firbolg, and months before that the time before. The tendency of humans to stare into the flickering flames of a campfire is something deeper, something innate that humans and the other short lived races have lost, a final vestige of a deeper truth they no longer can access... and truth be told, other firbolgs tend not to ponder the flames enough to see the knowledge within. They can hardly pass a flame without pausing to at least glance within, hoping for a glimpse of information...
Personality Trait • I've been isolated for so long that I rarely speak, preferring gestures and the occasional grunt. • I often get lost in my own thoughts and contemplation, becoming oblivious to my surroundings.
Ideal • Greater Good. My gifts are meant to be shared with all, not used for my own benefit. (Good)
Bond • My isolation gave me great insight into a great evil that only I can destroy.
Flaw • I am dogmatic in my thoughts and philosophy.
((If selected, I'll put together a character sheet. Have a few items I'd need to purchase or have access to through content sharing.)) ((**Nara is more chaotic neutral, being a creature of flame, and tugs him that way on occasion, but he's more chaotic good.))

Ability scores: 13179131615
Name: Shaja Race: Loxodon (male) Class: Cleric (Twilight, Raven Queen) Background: Acolyte Alignment: Lawful Neutral Uncommon Item: Gauntlets of Ogre Power (I removed the 15 starting GP from the acolyte background but kept the equipment)
Backstory:
Shaja does not know why he was summoned. He has always spent his time in the temple of the Queen of Twilight, content to tend to the altar and keep to himself. He prefers it that way, in fact. The humans say they are allies, that only the rougher races of monsters are their enemies. Shaja knows better, however. He sees their rings, their amulets, their belts. He sees the way they eye his tusks. And he knows, no matter how eloquent his speech, how logical his arguments, that they look to his tiny eyes, enormous head, and grey, leathery skin, and see only a beast.
Why else would he still be an acolyte, well into his 67 th year? There are human children barely reaching adolescence who have outstripped Shaja’s rank in the temple. Sometimes, the unjustness of it all takes him. Most of the time, his natural patience and even-temperedness quells the discomfort. But it never extinguishes it, just as the sparks of derision and condescendence in their eyes never quite disappear, either.
The herd always told him to stay out of human affairs. That joining the temple was a foolish idea. But Shaja feels the Queen call to him. Demand that he pay her homage, and give her powers life and presence in this world. He wishes nothing more to do that, but the humans would have him polishing chalices for the rest of his life. So when the call came, he answered.
The only requirement his beastly features? It was highly suspicious. But the chance to break free from his expected role as a dumb beast is too tempting to pass.
Gruntor was outcast from his tribe....because they said he was not smart. They call him names, kick him. Say he is dumb dumb. They Mean. But now...he will prove them wrong and show them strong face. He will be greatest Bugbear EVER. Who care about reading books and magics. Gruntor can smash and cut and be a good warrior...So, he will smash and smash hard..
Gruntor rolled a 6 intelligence and a con I thought not high enough for barbarian...so here he is...trying to prove himself to his tribe by earning fame as a good warrior...He is not book smart, but he is wise and brave and loyal....
NOTE: Took adamantine plate armor....seems like a lot.......and standard equipment. If I should roll for money instead of take standard equipment that is ok...
OK, I'm going to lock recruitment of new entries at this point. Anyone who expressed interest can now finish deciding their characters and I will make a pick before Wednesday.

I will accept Aarakocra, Half-Orc and Dragonborn. One of the players has kindly been sharing, so you should be able to make a monster character too. Failing that, I will accept a fluff base race.
Name:Vrakskan Onyxadyn Race: Dragonborn (Black) Class: Barbarian (Path of the Ancestral Guardian) Background: Haunted One Alignment: CG Uncommon Item:Ring of Mind Shielding
Backstory:
The local wild lands were tamed and a multitude of evil creatures was cleansed from the land. So goes the story from the human point of view...
Vrak had a home and a family once: A proud clan of Dragonborn who lived deep in the woods, in a marshland. They were self-suficient and had not done anything to anyone, bad or good. They were just living their lives in peace.
The forest was beautiful, once: Vrak remembered that when he was a child there were butterfly-winged pixies flying around, and storm giants walked the land.
But then, one day, for reasons he couldn't understand, people came there claiming to own the land the clan had always lived in. These people saw the clan's dark scales, curled horns and sharp fangs and claws, and thus they decided they were all evil. And evil creatures had to be destroyed.
Vrakskan was the only survivor of the resulting massacre, and the experience left him paranoid. He saw his family's murderers everywhere, and he couldn't sleep without having nightmares of that day. Ashamed of his fear and his weakness and fearful that he might be going insane, he tries to hide this from everyone he meets, going to far as to get his claws on a ring that could shield his mind from others. No one had to know about his nightmares, nor the hallucinations he sometimes suffered from. He thought that would mark him as weak.
But not all the voices in his head were bad: Sometimes, when he thought back to the people who had taken his home from him, he felt his family's spirits around him, comforting him, protecting him. Those were moments of peace... And of rage.

The only requirement his beastly features? It was highly suspicious. But the chance to break free from his expected role as a dumb beast is too tempting to pass.

Gruntor Beeblesnark Bugbear Fighter
https://ddb.ac/characters/45325665/Za2ZWn
I will accept Aarakocra, Half-Orc and Dragonborn. One of the players has kindly been sharing, so you should be able to make a monster character too. Failing that, I will accept a fluff base race.
What does this mean?
((Thanks, I'm going to stick with Dragonborn))
Name: Vrakskan Onyxadyn
Race: Dragonborn (Black)
Class: Barbarian (Path of the Ancestral Guardian)
Background: Haunted One
Alignment: CG
Uncommon Item: Ring of Mind Shielding
