Going into the room you count six wooden chair frames, their cushions rotted long ago. In a corner, a family of mice had built a nest. They run and scamper around the room, to the delight of the cats. Clipper, Truffles and Cupcake grab one each. Squeaks runs around the room, unable to focus on a single mouse at a time, until the rest hide in tiny tunnels along the back room, leaving one cat without a prey.
There are two smaller rooms that you can access from this room. Each has the remains of a bed and a desk. Each has a single candle holder by the wall. Ryota notices that by the way the metal has tarnished they are most likely made out of silver and could fetch a nice price in a store.
"Well hunted, Clipper," Thariv says, seeming almost inordinately proud of the cat's feat. He then goes to one of the desks and checks to see if there's anything else of interest beyond the silver candleholder.
Luther raises a hand to Ryota, palm up in symbolic offering, as he says "Well spotted my friend; the silver is yours if you want it. No point fighting over two trinkets between four of us, unless we decide to split a sale when we next reach a market"
Disappointed by the lack of clues as to what might be waiting for them further on, the half orc tests the tension on his bow string and nods to the door that they all just entered by. "Onwards again then? I think there was a closed door just a bit further on"
With a firm tug, Ryota dislodges the silver candle holders, and stows them safely. You return to the main corridor and continue onwards until you are in front of the next door. This one opens to the right side, but there is some light inside coming from arrowslits on the far wall. Without entering the room, you see that is larger than the previous one, even larger than the barracks outside. There are brass hooks on the western wall holding a rotten tapestry and a great table surrounded by benches dominates the center of the room. Nothing moves inside, but the cats seem tense in this area.
The corridor continues curving ahead of you, but you don't see any other doors from your position yet.
Luther advances towards the doorway leading into the dining hall (OOC: described in post #167). There is no movement or sounds coming from inside, but Truffles is acting as if he didn't want to enter this room.
Luther gets to the tapestry, he can vaguely discern the outline of a mounted knight, but the colors have faded and its impossible to tell which banner flies from his lance. While he looks, Ryota enters the room, shouting a warning, two small monsters, barely a yard tall, stumble out of the benches. Their skin looks slimy, with starfish-shaped hands and a mouth full of theet drooling at the sight of fresh food.
OOC: time to continue in the combat thread. Monsters initiative: 8.
The party proves themselves vanquishing the two chokers that were hiding in the dining room. Still Ryota endured some damage from their tentacles and Luther was unable to finish the battle unharmed.
The cats around you relax, now that the monsters are dead. You notice two more doors open at the far end of this room.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Hmph. Wirey things" says Luther, poking one of the expired chokers with his boot while retrieving an arrow. He looks up at Thariv as if seeing him anew, and says admiringly "Nice trick. I guess arcana comes to some more naturally than others huh? Anyway, best have a good look around before we move on"
Searching the room for doors, traps and treasure: Perception 20 and/or Investigation 16
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thariv raises an eyebrow at Luther's words as the tentacle dissipates into wisps of fog before disappearing completely.
"Thanks mate,"he says. "Naturally or supernaturally, I suppose. I am still still learning what I am capable of..."
Thariv quickly checks on Clipper, making sure the cat is all right and kneeling to give her an appreciative scratch behind the ears. He rubs a knuckle against her cheek as well. "You're OK, right?"he says sweetly. "Let's take a look around."
Cat and half-elf proceed to check out the room, then move slowly to the doors at the end of the room.
Other than the tracks your group and the chokers made, this room is covered in dust. The dining table and benches are made of solid wood and still look usable, but it may be cumbersome to move them around the place.
Moving towards the two doors, Thariv hears some birds fluttering behind one of them. No sound comes from the other one.
Luther rubs his chin while debating which of the two doors they should open. To the group he says "Birds fluttering could mean an empty room, silent room could mean company? What do you think?" Then to the purring Truffles, curled up in his kit bag again, "What about you, my furry friend?"
"I think Cupcake wouldn't mind some birdies for lunch, especially after that scary tentacle monster. Am I right?" Ryo says with a smile, he gives the large cat a rub on its head and goes to open the one with birds fluttering behind.
Ryo opens the door to a large kitchen. A dozen sparrows nest here and most flutter away though the arrowslits when the door opens. Only one remain, staring at the half-elf without moving from atop a cupboard. Cupcake and Truffles instantly start hissing at the lone bird.
"Unless anyone can speak to that bird"says Luther, nocking an arrow, "I'm going to put it down". He was willing to take the cats' judge of character on this one.
(OOC: readying an attack - trigger is the bird trying to fly away)

no meeces =( hoomin no gots kibble!
Ryota gives his pal a slow head rub. Keep at it Squeaks. You'll be a champion mouser in no time.
To his companions he says - Careful with those candlesticks, I think they're silver...
"Well hunted, Clipper," Thariv says, seeming almost inordinately proud of the cat's feat. He then goes to one of the desks and checks to see if there's anything else of interest beyond the silver candleholder.
Nothing useful remains in the desks. The mice got in them and ate or used the parchment pieces to build their nest.
Luther raises a hand to Ryota, palm up in symbolic offering, as he says "Well spotted my friend; the silver is yours if you want it. No point fighting over two trinkets between four of us, unless we decide to split a sale when we next reach a market"

Ryota gestures to his pals - Share the treasure equally, yes? We can discuss that when we head back to town. Meanwhile, onwards it is....

Luther advances towards the doorway leading into the dining hall (OOC: described in post #167). There is no movement or sounds coming from inside, but Truffles is acting as if he didn't want to enter this room.
Luther steps into the room, inspects the tapestry to see if he can discern the picture.
Sensing Truffles tensing up he says "Come now little one, nothing to be scared of here"
Hoomin, weese a gots a bad feeling about sa dis one :( Why youse bring us here!
Guys, the kitties don't like this room much, maybe we ought to search it?
Ryota looks around carefully, searching but unsure what he's looking for..... Perception 14
