Thariv looks about. "I'm sure there's an interesting story behind this skeleton and the note, but it may be a very old story indeed. Perhaps we have to keep searching?"
Squawks!Glares at Thariv! Kibble NOW hoomins!Squawks!
Ryota asses the situation, and decides that mutiny against the kitties was a Bad Idea. So, he sits down at a table, slowly, and pulls out some trail mix and water.
Break time, anyone?
The room erupts in a chorus of buzzing purrs as the cats gather around...
You rest and play for a while, sharing your rations with the cats and letting them roam around the barracks. Remembering that you came here to find a monster, the felines urge you to move on. You leave the barracks and go towards the main keep. The only building you haven't explored yet.
The entrance had a set of large timber doors. Now one of them lies flat on the ground. Ryo and Luther notice that the dirt has several tracks. Most were made by small human shaped footprints and a single set is clearly a cat's.
There are no light sources inside, and the cats coming with you are unable to see in the dark.
The main keep is a circular building some 100 feet wide. The back of the keep rests against a large rock formation. The doors are somewhat to the side and open to a 10 feet wide corridor that follows the outer wall curving along the building (like a snail's shell).
Neither Ryota nor Squeaks notice any movement inside.
OOC: I drew a quick sketch of the map, if you like it I can keep updating it as you progress. The large blob at the top is the rock formation.
Luther takes his place at the head of the line, arrow nocked on his bow and nightvision straining for signs of danger. Truffles rides nestled on top of the archer's pack, alert for sounds but unable to pierce the darkness by sight.
Luther has a speed of 30ft but will move at 25 to keep the group together.
Perception for Luther: 20
And for Truffles: 18 with a second roll in case disadvantage is applied: 25
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thariv stays at the rear of the group, occasionally glancing behind them to make sure no one or nothing is sneaking up on them. He keeps his crossbow slung on his back. He absentmindedly palms the piece of coral he carries everywhere. Perception 8
Clipper moves back and forth between being at Thariv's side and more toward the front, sniffing the air (and the floor and the walls and ...) from time to time. Perception 11
After a short rest, Ryo picks up Cupcake again and follows the group. "There, there," he comforts, patting the thick fur of the huge cat, who is obviously disgruntled, "I know you don't like dark and dirty places. Well, we are going the other way, maybe there's more interesting stuff ahead, huh?"
You start moving along the corridor, aided by Ryota's light. It is empty and you can see the child sized footprints in some places. After advancing for some 50 feet, you have an opening to your left, from the hallway you can see a table and a few chairs around it. Clipper tenses at the entrance, smelling prey inside.
The corridor continues curving, and you can distinguish another doorway 30 feet or so ahead, opening to the right side. But you are too far away to see in there.
The keep is cold, and you don't hear any noise other than your footsteps.

The four cats are gratefull for the food and water, and happily eat what Ryota offers. Soon they are playing among themselves.
While the cats eat, Thariv looks around the room, but doesn't see anything else that may be useful.
<ooc - short rest?>
(OOC: I don't need one but happy to rest if others do)
There is no immediate danger here. You could close the door and take a safe short rest in the barracks.
((OOC: I also don't need the short rest, but sure why not? ))

I hope no one minds we go forth another 25 feet slowly? You know, to build up the appetite? Ryota inquires in a low tone....

Luther will continue to move at the slowest team member's pace until they reach a room, door or encounter.
