"Didn't meet any messengers, but sent to take care of ogre problem. Best way to deal with ogre problem is make them the human's problem, yes? Can you get word to others? That giant is dead, and ogres maybe fight for us now?"
The guards make a bitter smile:
"You aren't joking, it seems. There is no ogre problem. There's an invasion staging ground that masquerades as such. And while losing one of the big slow-witted bruisers will stop them for today, it's not going to make the ogres switch sides."
"There is indeed more than one giant. The so called "Big Maw" is indeed a noticeably larger specimen and better equipped than his bullied brethren like the one here, who subserviently obey his orders. Still, while the giant still appears to be not quite as dim as one would expect from his kind, but organising this invasion... I do not believe in a giant's mind can be behind this."
The hobgoblins pause and turn to the fort.
"But this is something for command to work out. We just shoot things."
"Seems like we have a bit more than we expected, in order to take out this giant." Nasaar says with a frown. He looks to his two companions. "Not sure just the three of us can take on a group of giants plus this king of theirs." he says. "We'll have to try to see if we can separate the leader from the rest somehow."
"You probably want to rest after the fight. The fort should be safe for now. The commander also would want to speak with you, since you took down this giant."
"Rest sounds fine to me." Nasaar says with a nod. "If that means having to talk to an officer then so be it. I guess that is just the price we have to pay for a bit of downtime..." he seems less than enthused by this, but moves towards the fortress.
You proceed towards to the fort. You see that that ogres have have retreated, and the defence force is also returning through the gates. The fort appears slightly damaged from the fighting, but the stone walls and towers are largely intact.

Still feeling the pain of the Giant's blow, Gruntor shakes his head. "A bigger one..."
"What of the armor Big Maw wears? Is it more complete, or much like this?"

Nasaar slips the gemstones into his pouch, then moves to rejoin the others as they talk with the fort hobgoblins.
"Only saw him from far away. Armor looked very shiny and he had some king crown on his head."
"Hmmm... do you know how many giants there are? Roughly?"

"Half a dozen or so. All part of the clan of that self-proclaimed king."

"Yes, fighting through them all to take on Big Maw sounds like a bad idea.", the firebolg muses.

Gruntor nods at the others. "Maybe we be sneakies"

Gruntor nods "Need some rest, Also, me wants bigger weapons. These is too smalls"
(Gruntor is looking tu dual wield larger weapons as he took the feat...)
The Firebolg is uninjured, but knows that his fellows could use a rest and he can conserve his spells if they pause for a bit.

The firebolg will send his little fire spirit to scout the area and return while the party rests.
