I agree, just add the bonus to any dex save on something you can see. Way easier and not game breaking at all.
Can someone please tell me why shield master doesn't give you proficiency with shields? doesn't that seem utterly preposterous?
I don't have the answer :( but I have an interesting related thread instead: Is Shield Training Possible Outside of Gaining It From A Class?
Because it's a prerequisite in the first place instead.
In other words, you have to have some sort of shield training before you can become a shield master.
Right, and this is true for the similarly named "Medium Armor Master" and "Heavy Armor Master" feats as well.
