Just a little thing here. Soulknife rouges with their psychic blades, are the proficient with them? Cause it doesn't say. I am assuming it's implied like natural weapons, but if not then what's the point?
If you max out dex you have only a +5 which is the same attack bonus as a level 1 character (assuming the have a 16 in the attacking stat)
If this isn't implied then i can only assume its a balance thing? Like you always have a weapon on hand that does a powerful dmg type.
Pact of the Blade Warlocks have a weapon that they cannot lose and can do more dmg, not to mention they have eldritch blast which is stronger and does force dmg. Actually spell casters in general they always have cantrips that scale with them.
The psychic blades are identified as simple melee weapons...Rogues are proficient with all simple weapons by default, so they are proficient with psychic blades

Icon is correct. You can think of it a lot like you're wielding a single psychic dagger which does +1 damage during the attack action and which you can legally throw as a bonus action, but you can't make attacks of opportunity with it. In most situations, that logic will answer your questions (an example exception is they do not work with booming blade, but almost nothing works with booming blade any more).
