I would also like to add that even though disadvantage doesn't stack, you still need to get rid of both conditions in order to remove the disadvantage. My post shows how you might do this.
If you have advantage and disadvantage, you have neither. If you are blind, restrained, and hidden you do not have disadvantage.
Now that doesn't necessarily mean you are hidden from a creature you are inside of. That is up to DM.

Can likely be put down to a misunderstanding, however 'That is up to the DM' is very different from 'Here are two RAW reasons this particular monster should be able to still 'see' you.' Your second paragraph suggested it purely a judgement call with no guidance from RAW.
Again, though, sounds like just a misunderstanding.
I was also taking into account other monsters that swallow targets and wording my answer generally based on that.
