just inquiring about the mechanics of portent vs counterspell.

In my session, I cast blindness and stated that I used portent. The bbeg used counterspell and countered it. is this correct as my div wizard would've seen the result of the spell?

Got a bit overzealous there. You don't use portent until a roll is about to occur. Counterspell prevents the roll caused by the spell entirely.

On the bright side, that means you didn't waste your portent (because it was never triggered).
