Hello there! I got a question that was probably asked a few times on the internet already but I couldn't find a clear solution as everyone quoted the spell as it isn't allowed to WEAR Medium or Heavy Armor. Appearantly that was the old wording of it and got changed(?) Correct me if I am wrong.
I am quite confused as "Don" is, in the rulebook, described as the ACTION of putting on the Armor and not actually wearing it?
"Starting at 2nd level, you can invoke a secret elven magic called the Bladesong, provided you aren't wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield. It graces you with supernatural speed, agility, and focus."
You are correcting that Donning the armor is just the very literal term for "putting on the armor". Once Donned, the character is then Wearing the armor and cannot gain the benefits of Bladesong. You cannot, for example, start the Bladesong without any medium armor, then Don the Armor and continue using Bladesong, because Bladesong cannot be active while a character is wearing medium or heavy armor. I suppose it's easiest to explain with a Shield, since it's much easier to pick up a shield and equip it as an action.

Here's the exact wording:

Yeah, don't worry about linguistic gymnastics. Bladesinging is incompatible with medium or heavy armor.
