Hello, I have a lightning-based sorceress who has Elemental Affinity, Elemental Adept and the metamagic option Transmuted Spell. I'm wondering if the benefits of Elemental Affinity (adding spellcasting mod to dmg of spells with a certain damage type [lightning]) and Elemental Adept (overcoming resistances to damage type [lightning]) work if the spell's damage type has been changed to lightning with Transmuted Spell. Also, vise versa, do they apply if I'm casting Lightning Bolt, but change the damage type to something else?
Certainly you'd make one ruling, not both. Either you can use elemental affinity for the original or the new damage type.
I'd tend to say that you can use the feature for the new damage type of the spell because you don't roll damage until after you've decided to change the type, and the feat affects the spell when you roll damage.

I would rule that if the spell is lightning damage for any reason, than your Elemental Adept works.
Like I said, it should be either the new or the original type, not both (probably the new).
