Hello everyone. Sorry if this has been discussed already, but wasn't able to find anything. My question is how would the secondary arms work with unarmed attacks? Would a thri-kreen monk get additional attacks, or just more options for their bonus action attack or flurry of blows? It doesn't really say in the new Spelljammer book that I can see. Just curious if there is something official on this as I'm sure I'm not the only one that sees the possibilities (for better or worse) with the extra arms.
It doesn't really change much of anything for monks. The monk's bonus action attack and Flurry of Blows are made as unarmed attacks, which are not light melee weapons. Unarmed attacks also aren't exclusive to attacks with your hands--you can kick or headbutt an enemy, for example, so you don't actually have to have a free hand.
The biggest thing you can do as a thri-kreen monk, as far as I can figure, is to maybe wield a shortbow in your main hands and then keep a shortsword on one of your secondary hands so you don't have to swap out mid-combat. Your remaining hand can remain free to hold and/or manipulate objects.
