I've just reached level 3 with my Cleric and I noticed I gain 2nd level spell slots. However, I also noticed that there are now two 2nd level spells that are always prepared. Does that mean that's it for me or do I also get to select two from the list to learn? I guess I've always been confused as to whether or not I can learn all of the spells on the list, even though I can only use so many slots.
You can prepare whichever spells you like from your spell list up to your limit, and your Domain spells are additional spells you always have prepared in addition to them.
Domain Spells
Each domain has a list of spells-its domain spells that you gain at the cleric levels noted in the domain description. Once you gain a domain spell, you always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day.
If you have a domain spell that doesn't appear on the cleric spell list, the spell is nonetheless a cleric spell for you.
