Since casting Summon Beast takes my action; it shares my initiative but goes after me. The question is, does the Summoned Beast get to attack that same round if I summoned it in a space within melee range of a target? or am I forced to wait one round before it can attack?
I think your answer is in your question: it goes after you, so it gets its entire turn after yours. If you still have the opportunity to command the creature after you summon it then it should attempt your command.
I think the only limitation you have is whether or not your DM is super strict about your ability to speak on your turn, since the Beast is controlled via verbal commands. If you start your turn by shouting something to an ally, some DM's might not allow you to also issue a command to your Beast on that same turn. I feel like the greater majority of DMs aren't that strict, but I've seen long arguments about giving verbal commands on your turn in relation to things like Familiars.
I think the crux of it is the parenthetical: "It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you)." Since no action is required to issue the verbal command, that sure feels like they don't intend it to be bound by action economy.

I definitely agree, and I wouldn't restrict it by any means, but it's just something I feel is worth asking about with your DM, since some DM's can be very strict about that kind of thing.

Sweet. I just didn't know if there was some random rule that said any summoned entity has to wait till the next turn to take its first action.
